Ideal for atomizing moon soldiers or neighborhood dogs at your earliest convenience!
Manmelter publicity blurb

The Manmelter is a secondary weapon for the Pyro. It is a grey, futuristic laser Pistol.

The weapon fires flaming bolts of energy that function similarly to flares from the Flare Gun. Unlike flares, shots cannot be deflected and will not normally inflict critical hits on flaming players. The weapon also has unlimited ammunition and can only fire crits when they have been accumulated via the alt-fire function. Holding the alt-fire button will extinguish teammates on fire and earn a guaranteed critical hit for each one, which will be stored for later use, similar to the Frontier Justice or Diamondback. Up to 35 crits can be stored at one time.

Enemies killed by the Manmelter suffer a distinctive death by incineration, wherein they disintegrate into smoldering orange cinders that quickly fade away.

Taunting with the Manmelter active allows the Pyro to perform a deadly Hadouken.

This item was named the "Manmelter 3600 ZX" in promotional materials from the TF2 blog and Weta Workshop.

Bugs

  • The Pyro holds the Manmelter like a Flamethrower in the store's preview.
  • Hits from the weapon that kill the target (not afterburn) use the Flare Gun's kill icon.
  • The Pyro's right hand significantly clips through the weapon in client view.
  • Holding down the MOUSE1 button after firing will cause the weapon not to fully go back to its resting position.
  • When rapidly switching from the Manmelter to another slot using "Q", for a split second in the lower right corner you can see its ammo, 100 loaded 32 carried, despite this it still has infinite ammunition. A similar bug used to appear on the Cow Mangler.

Trivia

  • The appearance of this weapon is based on that of the "Manmelter 3600ZX Sub-Atomic Disintegrator Pistol", which can be purchased from the online store at Weta Workshop.
