The Holy Mackerel is a melee weapon for the Scout class. It appears as a fish wrapped in faded newspaper, shaped for easy handling.

Whilst the weapon has no discernable attributes from the Bat, being slapped by the fish is considered so humiliating that the kill list displayed in the HUD will record every connecting swipe, displaying a number corresponding to the number of hits dealt. Should an enemy be killed by the Holy Mackeral, the kill feed will proclaim "FISH KILL!".

Trivia

• Based on its appearance, the fish is a chub mackerel.
• 42 is a reference to Douglas Adams' novel, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
• The Holy Mackeral plays a distinct squish sound when struck against an object, unlike any other weapon.
• The Mackeral appears to have jigglebones implemented, causing it to bend each time it is swung. Additionally, it may move on its own, suggesting it may be alive.
• The weapon itself is a likely reference to the Monty Python sketch The Fish-Slapping Dance.
• This is the first weapon that appears to be a living organism.
• This is the only Scout's melee weapon that isn't a baseball bat.
