Meet the Heavy
HeavyVidSplash.png

A towering hulk of a man hailing from the USSR, the Heavy, also known as Heavy Weapons Guy, is the largest, and possibly the most dangerous class in Team Fortress 2; boasting the highest stamina and the biggest gun, as well as the slowest speed. His firepower is highly impressive, allowing him to mow down opponents in seconds. However, revving up and firing his Minigun brings his already-unimpressive speed to a snail's pace, making him an open (and very large) target for any enemy outside his range of fire. Though large and imposing, this makes the Heavy somewhat vulnerable , but with a Medic at his back and a well coordinated team flanking him, he can become an unstoppable entity of destruction. The Heavy can even benefit his team by dropping plates of Sandviches, which give his teammates a delicious and much-appreciated health boost.

The Heavy is arguably the 'face' of Team Fortress 2, appearing the most prominently in box-art and promotional materials as well as starring in the very first Meet the Team video and all following ones to date. In addition, he appears in Template:W as the Team Fortress 2 representative.

The Heavy is voiced by Gary Schwartz.

Trivia

A Heavy Lithograph currently sold at the VALVe Store.
  • The Heavy's Minigun fires 4 shots per 1 ammo point (out of 200) and it takes him 20 seconds of non-stop firing to run out of ammo, meaning that "Sasha" only fires 2,400 rounds per minute rather than 10,000 rounds per minute, as the Heavy claims in the Meet the Heavy trailer.
  • The songs the Heavy may sing as part of his response rules include Mily Balakirev's 'Song of the Volga Boatmen', Chopin's 'Funeral March', Khachaturian's 'Sabre Dance'.
  • The emblem on the Heavy's sleeve was originally a skull and crossbones. This is still visible in Meet the Heavy.
  • The Heavy is the mascot of "Heavy Gulp," a brand of drink sold in Left 4 Dead 2.
  • On 03/09/2010 Template:W announced a comedy poker game called 'Poker Night at the Inventory' starring Strong Bad, Max, Tycho and the RED Heavy.
    • Heavy's bio on the Poker Night at the Inventory official site reads:

The Heavy Weapons Guy is an esteemed member of the RED team where he works as a professional killer. When not embroiled in the eternal blood-soaked battle against team BLU, the Heavy enjoys classic Russian literature, listening to tapes and cleaning his Minigun. He is as cold and calculating at the poker table as he is on the battlefield. Join The Heavy and his pals for hour upon hour of playful "combat" in The Second Team Fortress, available for PC and Mac on Steam or TeamFortress.com.

  • The BLU Heavy has been killed and/or horribly maimed in every Meet the Team video to date, alongside an equally unlucky teammate, the BLU Soldier.
  • The Heavy's hands are so large, he grips the pump of his Shotgun with only his thumb and index finger, and can spin his Shotgun around his finger as a taunt. He also holds the Sandvich and Dalokohs Bar in this fashion.
    • Also, as seen in Meet the Scout, he fires his Shotgun with his ring finger.
  • John Henry was hired as the first BLU team Heavy.[2]
  • The voice actor for the Heavy, Gary Schwartz, also voiced the Demoman.
