The Medic taking his divine throne

The Sun King is an item set for the Medic. It is a stereotypical Ancient Egyptian "Nemes" headdress worn by the Pharoahs, perhaps most notably seen on the sarcophagus of Tutankhamun. It was added to the game in the Scream Fortress 2013. The Sun King was contributed to the Steam Workshop.

The set includes the following items:

This set includes Halloween-restricted items and can only be worn around Halloween or during a Full Moon; at other times of the year, it does not appear in gameplay nor grant its effect, unless the server has Halloween mode enabled. However, it can be equipped at any time and can still be viewed on the loadout screen even when it is not visible during games.

Trivia

  • Particularly in the Middle Kingdom, the Egyptian pharaoh was the “sun king”, a living god; Tutankhamun and Ramesses II in particular erected temples to have themselves worshiped as the sun king.
  • The "Sun King" was also a title given to Louis XIV of France, one of the most powerful and influential kings of French history and the longest-reigning in recorded European history.
  • Despite popular conception, the "Nemes" headdress was not a particularly important or universal crown and just one of many "Pharaonic crown" head-cloths worn by the many monarchs of Egypt worn on various occasions and eras.
