The Amputator is a melee weapon for the Medic. It is a saw with angular edges and a distinct team colored handle with an arrowhead-like extension near the top and the Medic's emblem in the center.
The weapon is statistically identical to the Bonesaw; however, upon taunting with this weapon, a Medicating Melody is produced and all nearby teammates are healed. This process allows multiple healings to occur at once.
Should teammates within the taunt's area successfully kill an enemy, the Medic will be credited with an assist kill.

Note: The second blueprint simply makes a Medic's melee weapon; there is still a chance of getting the Übersaw or Vita-Saw instead. There will be approximately a 33.33% chance of crafting this item using the second blueprint.

Trivia
- The Amputator was originally going to be a dagger-like weapon named the Flammenspritze, as seen here.
- The taunt does not heal enemy Spies. Additionally, the light animation seen on teammates will not play with a disguised enemy Spy.
