— The Soldier commanding a legion

The Legionaire's Lid is a scrapped community-created cosmetic item for the Soldier. It resembles the helmet of a Roman Legionaire, with a team-colored plumage.
The item's model, materials, textures, and backpack icon were all found in the GCF files, but have since been removed, and the item is currently unavailable in-game. A similarly themed helmet, the Defiant Spartan, may have been implemented as opposed to this hat. The Legionaire's Lid's name and description can still be found in tf_english.txt
.

Update history
September 30, 2010 Patch (Mann-Conomy Update)
- [Undocumented] Materials for the Legionaire's Lid were added to the game.
Notes
- Based on
$blendtintbybasealpha
and$colortint_tmp
values in the item's material files, the item appears to be in the early stages of testing for what would eventually become the Paint Can tool.- This also explains the item's current state, as it is set to tint over its base texture almost completely with a flat white color.
