This article contains the list of maps for Team Fortress 2. Maps are the settings where gameplay takes place. According to the game universe, these locations are areas of prominence for the rival companies RED and BLU. As the land and any important property cannot be won by legal means, the 9 mercenaries are employed under each company to take the land with force by completing a series of objectives.
Initially, the game launched with only three game modes (CP, CTF, TC) spread across six maps (Dustbowl, Granary, Gravel Pit, Well, 2Fort, Hydro). However, with various major updates, this has expanded to over 190 official maps and several new game modes added. Many of these maps were created by members of the community and selected by Valve to appear in the game due to their outstanding quality.

Custom maps
A custom map is a map created by a third-party for use in Team Fortress 2. Third-party mod makers create many, many varied maps. Their creations can be modifications of official maps, including the addition or removal of areas, additional items, or functions, and even time of day or weather alterations. However, mappers are not just limited to playing with existing maps. Many create completely new and unique maps. During major updates, certain custom maps that have proven popular with the community and Valve-team alike may be directly added to the official Team Fortress 2 map cycle.
