Thanks for the aid.
The Soldier

The Beta Pocket Rocket Launcher is a primary weapon for the Soldier that was tested in Team Fortress 2 Beta. It uses the Direct Hit model.

This weapon encourages the Soldier wielding it and a Medic to work together; the Soldier will take ten damage for each successful hit they score, and the Medic's healing rate with the Medi Gun, Kritzkrieg or Quick-Fix can make up for this downside, in addition to activating the weapon's upside.

Three variants of the weapon exist, each one offering a different upside. The standard Beta Pocket Rocket Launcher gives the Soldier a Mini-Crit boost for six seconds if the Medic healing him is killed. The Beta Pocket Rocket Launcher 2 increases the rate at which the Medic builds ÜberCharge by 15% while healing the Soldier; this attribute will not work in spawn rooms, however. Lastly, the Beta Pocket Rocket Launcher 3 allows the Soldier to reload his weapons faster while being healed by any source, including Dispensers.

All three variants of the weapon have been removed from players' backpacks as of the November 9, 2011 Patch (Beta).

Bugs

  • As with all rocket-using primary weapons, excluding the Rocket Launcher, the Soldier does not load any rockets while reloading.
  • This weapon can be preserved by not opening TF2, keeping the Beta Pocket Rocket Launcher in your backpack.

Unused content

  • Two unused attributes exist, which are likely to have been intended for more variations of this weapon based on their wording. Their descriptions can be found in the localization files:
When the medic healing you is killed you gain 2 revenge crits
When the medic healing you is killed the killer becomes marked for death

Trivia

  • A "Pocket Soldier" is a commonly used term in competitive play to describe a Soldier that sticks with and protects the team's Medic.
  • A Pyro that successfully hits a target with a reflected rocket from this weapon will lose 10 health.
