The Soldier

The Beta Pocket Rocket Launcher is a primary weapon for the Soldier that currently only exists in Team Fortress 2 Beta. It uses the Direct Hit model.

This weapon encourages the Soldier wielding it and a Medic to work together; the Soldier will take ten damage for each successful hit they score and the Medic's healing rate with the Medi Gun, Kritzkrieg, or Quick-Fix can make up for this downside, in addition to activating the weapon's upside.

Three variants of the weapon exist, each one offering a different upside. The standard Beta Pocket Rocket Launcher gives the Soldier a Mini-Crit boost for six seconds if the Medic healing him is killed. The Beta Pocket Rocket Launcher 2 increases the rate at which the Medic builds ÜberCharge by 15% while healing the Soldier. This effect does not work in the spawn room. Lastly, the Beta Pocket Rocket Launcher 3 allows the Soldier to reload his weapons faster while being healed.

Since the item is still in an unreleased stage, these attributes may be changed or the weapon may be scrapped entirely.

Trivia

  • Pocket Soldier is the term used in competitive play to describe a Soldier pairing up with a Medic.
  • A Pyro that successfully hits a target with a reflected rocket from this weapon will lose 10 health.
  • An unused attribute, seemingly designed for another variant of this weapon, would cause the player who killed the Soldier's Medic to be marked for death, the attribute applied by the Fan O'War.
