Maps are the setting where Team Fortress 2 gameplay takes place. Initially, the game launched with only three game modes (CP, CTF, TC) spread across six maps (Dustbowl, Granary, Gravelpit, Well, 2Fort, Hydro). However, with various major updates, this has expanded to 39 official maps, with several new different game modes added. Many of these maps were created by members of the community, and were selected by Valve to appear in the game due to their outstanding quality; community maps are identified with a double dagger (‡).
