Coal Town is a map that was released on August 15th, 2012. It is designed for the game mode, Mann vs. Machine. It was first seen in the Mann vs. Machine update announcement. The map contains 3 missions: the normal invasion mission Crash Course, and the advanced invasion missions Ctrl+Alt+Destruction and CPU Slaughter.

- The "First Mined Piece of Coal" display's description reads: "Seventy-six members died in the excavation of the FIRST MINED PIECE OF COAL at MANN MINING COMPANY, marking a safety record for fewest deaths per ounce of coal in the nation's history."
- The "Historic Secretarial Alcove" display's description reads: "Originally staffed by an injured employee unable to work in the mine, the secretarial alcove allowed Bilious Hale to communicate with the nation's four other telephone owners."
- It has a telephone there that has a number of contacts listed, these are the President of the United States, Bilious Hale, Redmond & Blutarch Mann and Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the telephone.
- The "John Wilkes Booth's Death Hat" display shows the Towering Pillar of Hats with a description that reads: "Following the shootout that killed presidential assassin John "Tower of Hats" Booth, Bilious Hale was awarded Booth's hat tower for bravely sitting on Booth's chest while people shot at him.
- The "Steam-Powered Hat Prototype" display shows the Full Head Of Steam with a description that reads: "Eager to re-ignite the nation's waning interest in coal, Bilious Hale introduced the steam-powered hat in 1921 at the Paris World Fashion Expo. It required 50 pounds of coal per day for it to run."
- The term "steam-powered" is a reference to the Steam Store.
- The "Bilious Hale's Hat" display shows the Scotsman's Stove Pipe with a description that reads: "Wearing this hat, Mann Mining Co. owner Bilious Hale would enter mines and punch the coal out of them, while his employees followed behind his windmilling fists with coal-collecting sacks."
- A stovepipe, in addition to being a kind of top hat, is also the name of the chimney of a wood or coal-burning stove.
- The glass case to the right of the 3 hats, surrounded by the newspaper clippings, is a scale model of Coal Town.
- The "Historic Storage Closet" display's description reads: "Some say it was Bilious Hale himself who first pointed at this room at said, 'Let us put things here that we do not presently need, until such time as they may be needed.'"
- The "Panoramic View Of Coal" display's description reads: "Experience the life of an 1890's coal miner! The sights, sounds and smells of the period come alive in this pile of coal, painstakingly recreated from descriptions of coal piles from years past."
