The Kritzkrieg is an unlockable secondary weapon for the Medic class. Similar in appearence to the Medigun, it sports an additional fixture to the barrel. The Kritzkrieg's beam has small yellow lines floating into the recipient.
+

Just like the Medigun, this weapon can heal and ÜberCharge allies as well as disguised Spies, and will boost the total health of the target to 150% (also called overhealing). Once the ÜberCharge is deployed, however, it will bestow a 100% of Critical hits for the next 8 seconds, rather than giving invulnerability. This effect does not work in combination with the Axtinguisher, but can be used with the Sniper Rifle. It can also cause any projectiles reflected by the Pryo's Compression Blast to be Critical hits.
+
The Kritzkrieg ('krɪtskriːg KRITS) is an unlockable secondary weapon for the Medic. Similar in appearance to both the Medi Gun and Quick-Fix, it sports an additional fixture to the barrel with two glowing yellow lights on each side. The Kritzkrieg's beam has small yellow particles flowing into the recipient.

The Kritzkrieg additionally charges 25% faster than the Medigun, allowing for faster Ubercharges to be built and used for attacking whilst the Medigun can be reserved for defensive purposes.
+
Functioning similarly to the Medi Gun, this weapon is capable of healing teammates and disguised Spies up to the 150% base health overheal limit. The Kritzkrieg's ÜberCharge is acquired similarly to other Medi Guns, however, upon activation, it bestows a 100% Critical hit chance to the patient rather than invulnerability. While ÜberCharge is deployed, the Medic and his patient are able to capture points, push the cart, and carry the intelligence; however, unlike the stock Medi Gun, the Crit effect instantly wears off a patient as soon as the beam disconnects, making flashing other teammates useless. Additionally, the Kritzkrieg's ÜberCharge bar fills 25% faster than that of the Medi Gun.

The heal rate is based on how long ago the target was damaged; if they were damaged less than 10 seconds ago, it heals at 24 health per second, if they were hit 12.5 seconds ago, you will heal them at 48 health per second, and if 15 seconds have elapsed, they will be healed at 72 health per second. source
+
When healing a patient with a faster movement speed than the Medic, the Medic's speed is increased to match the patient, allowing him to keep up with Scouts, or teammates that have a weapon-boosted movement speed. Any kills that the patient gets is counted as an assist to the Medic.

The Kritzkrieg beam will stay locked onto its target as long as the wielding Medic keeps the attack button held down and keeps within range of the target. This allows the Medic to turn around and effectively keep an eye out for incoming enemies from behind. In Options > Multiplayer > Advanced, there is an option to have the beam stay locked on without having to hold down the fire button.
+
Taunting with the Kritzkrieg results in the Oktoberfest taunt, which heals for 10 health over 4 seconds.

Taunting with the Kritzkrieg equipped results in the Oktoberfest taunt attack.
+
The Kritzkrieg is automatically given to any player who obtains 16 Medic achievements.

+
10
*The Kritzkrieg has a Community weapon variant.
+
* Undocumented Added Strange quality.
*The name "Kritzkrieg" is a pun on "Crits" (Critical hits) and "Blitzkrieg", which is German for "lightning war", a technique used by the German army in World War II.

*Before the Kritzkrieg was released, Valve stated in interviews that they were going to add an Overhealer that could permanently overheal team-mates to 200% of their standard health, but it would have a significantly worsened ÜberCharge, or be unable to ÜberCharge at all. However, this was cancelled after playtesting. The model for the Kritzkrieg attachment still bears the filename 'Overhealer'.

*The Weapon was called Critzcrieg but it was changed to Kritzkrieg in the release.

*The Kritzkreig has no "c_model" and is just a luminescent attachment to the normal Medigun's barrel.

*Like the Medigun, the Kritzkreig resembles the famous Proton Packs from the movie Ghostbusters

Notes
+
* Unlike other Medic secondary weapons, the Strange variant of the Kritzkrieg ranks up based on kill assists, not ÜberCharges.
+

+
Bugs
+
* On the loadout screen, the Medic's model may sometimes still appear to be holding the Medi Gun even when the Kritzkrieg is equipped.
+
* Taunting with the Kritzkrieg sometimes may not render the healing effects that the Medic inhales.
+

+
Trivia
+
* The name "Kritzkrieg" is a pun on the term "crits", short for Critical hits, and "Blitzkrieg", German for "lightning war" – a technique used by the German army in World War II. This is a reference to the Kritzkrieg strategy, which involves wiping the enemy team as quickly as possible, much like the Germans did with Poland in World War II.
+
* According to a screenshot in the Gold Rush Update page, the weapon was originally named Critzcrieg, but was changed to Kritzkrieg for the release in-game.
+
* Before the Kritzkrieg was released, Valve stated in interviews that they were going to add the Overhealer, which could permanently overheal teammates to 200% of their standard health, but it would have a significantly worsened ÜberCharge or be unable to ÜberCharge at all. This idea was later canceled after playtesting; however, the model for the Kritzkrieg attachment still bears the filename
Overhealer
.

What the hell was that crap?
The Scout after missing all his shots with full critical hits

The Kritzkrieg (/'krɪtskriːg/ krits-kreeg) is an unlockable secondary weapon for the Medic. Similar in appearance to both the Medi Gun and Quick-Fix, it sports an additional fixture to the barrel with two glowing yellow lights on each side. The Kritzkrieg's beam has small yellow particles flowing into the recipient.

When healing a patient with a faster movement speed than the Medic, the Medic's speed is increased to match the patient, allowing him to keep up with Scouts, or teammates that have a weapon-boosted movement speed. Any kills that the patient gets is counted as an assist to the Medic.

Taunting with the Kritzkrieg results in the Oktoberfest taunt, which heals for 10 health over 4 seconds.

The Kritzkrieg is automatically given to any player who obtains 16 Medic achievements.

Notes

 • Unlike other Medic secondary weapons, the Strange variant of the Kritzkrieg ranks up based on kill assists, not ÜberCharges.

Bugs

 • On the loadout screen, the Medic's model may sometimes still appear to be holding the Medi Gun even when the Kritzkrieg is equipped.
 • Taunting with the Kritzkrieg sometimes may not render the healing effects that the Medic inhales.

Trivia

 • The name "Kritzkrieg" is a pun on the term "crits", short for Critical hits, and "Blitzkrieg", German for "lightning war" – a technique used by the German army in World War II. This is a reference to the Kritzkrieg strategy, which involves wiping the enemy team as quickly as possible, much like the Germans did with Poland in World War II.
 • According to a screenshot in the Gold Rush Update page, the weapon was originally named Critzcrieg, but was changed to Kritzkrieg for the release in-game.
 • Before the Kritzkrieg was released, Valve stated in interviews that they were going to add the Overhealer, which could permanently overheal teammates to 200% of their standard health, but it would have a significantly worsened ÜberCharge or be unable to ÜberCharge at all. This idea was later canceled after playtesting; however, the model for the Kritzkrieg attachment still bears the filename Overhealer.
