"Reserve" redirects here. You may have been looking for Aladdin's Private Reserve.
Military scientists were at first dumbfounded by the request made by soldiers of the airborne divisions to make a gun with the same firepower in a smaller package. It's usually their job to put vastly more firepower in a package that's the same size or much bigger. Grudgingly the work was completed, and this was the result, a compact shotgun.
Reserve Shooter publicity blurb

The Reserve Shooter is a community-created secondary weapon for the Soldier and Pyro. It is a compact pump-action shotgun with wooden furniture, an olive-shaded metal frame, and a white U.S. army insignia on the right side of the receiver.

The Reserve Shooter has a magazine capacity of 2 less shells compared to the Shotgun, but can be switched to 20% faster. Additionally, the Reserve Shooter deals mini-crits against targets launched into the air by explosions, enemies using the Grappling Hook, and enemy Pyros flying via the Thermal Thruster.

Taunting as Pyro with the Reserve Shooter equipped results in the Hadouken kill taunt.

Trivia

  • As with most shotguns in the game, the Reserve Shooter is a left-handed shotgun (as shown by the ejection port being visible on the left hand side of the gun), despite this both Soldier and Pyro hold it right-handed. A right-handed shotgun has the ejection port on its right side to prevent ejected shells from striking the user.
