The Sharpened Volcano Fragment is a promotional melee weapon for the Pyro. It appears as an obsidian axe with glowing lava flowing along the blade's extreme edges.
This weapon delivers 20% less damage than the standard Fire Axe, but has the ability to ignite enemies upon contact.
Players who pre-ordered RIFT on Steam before March 1, 2011 received a Genuine quality version of the weapon; the March 1, 2011 Patch made these weapons tradable. It was originally stated that normal quality versions would be available via crafting after the pre-order period ended. However, the details on this are still unknown. Note: crafting this weapon will not result in the Genuine quality prefix.

- Updated the burn effect from the Pyro's Sharpened Volcano Fragment to only last for a limited time on enemies.

- Updated the Sharpened Volcano Fragment and the Sun-on-a-Stick so they can be traded.
