Team Fortress 2 Beta jest osobną wersją beta gry, dostępną dla wszystkich graczy premium. Została otworzona 2 grudnia 2010 i usunięta 7 czerwca 2013. Był to drugi okres publicznych beta testów – pierwszy odbywał się przed ukazaniem się gry. Beta była stworzona by:
- Testować różne zmiany w klasac postaci, przedmiotach i broniach.
- Testować zmiany w mapach i trybach.
- Wchodzić na wyższe poziomy, przełomowe zmiany w grze (np.: podwajanie zdrowia gracza).
- Testować nowe technologie bez psucia gry.
Nowi gracze dostwali bronie które były podczas testowania, także przedmioty promocyjne do których konto Steam było upoważnione, oraz inne przedmioty które był przekazywane do testow okazjonalnie. System losowych przedmiotów i wytwarzania były włączone, natomiast wymienianie i Sklep MannCo. były zablokowane. Team Fortress 2 Beta używał tego samego systemu losowych przedmiotów co normalny Team Fortress 2.
To Team Fortress 2 Beta różniło się od pierwszej bety która została wydana dla każdej osoby która zamówiła grę przedpermierowo przed 2007 rokiem, i była bardziej podobna do zamkniętej bety z 2009 roku.
