Robot Destruction is an upcoming game mode announced on July 8th, 2014. Currently this game mode is in beta and only includes one map, rd_asteroid. However the map is available to play by going to the quickplay menu, checking "Play Beta Maps" and selecting "Robot Destruction". The release date for the game mode and map is currently unknown. Because it is in beta, certain textures and animations are missing.

Robot Destruction maps are all symmetrical, similar to Capture the Flag maps. This game mode requires players to go into the enemy base and destroy their robots to earn points. When the robots are destroyed they will drop things that can be collected to add points to your team's total score. The Robots are split into three tiers, each tier being harder to kill, located deeper in the enemy base and worth more points. Robots are indestructible until all robots of the tier before them have been destroyed. Your team's points will be stored in a "battery" deep in your base. This "battery" can be collected and captured like an Intelligence briefcase; the battery can also be captured to restore points to your team. Currently the game will go on indefinitely until one team reaches a certain score, in which case that team will win.

Unlike Mann vs. Machine robots, these Robots are harmless and will run when you attack them. Currently these Robots are similar to Buildings in their attributes: they are unaffected by knockback (including Compression Blasts and shield bashes), Afterburn, Backstabs, Mini-crits, Critical hits, and Bleeding. Robots also do not grant any on hit/kill bonuses (for example, health on hit with the Black Box), nor can they be sapped (interestingly, some classes have increased damage: Spy, Scout, and Medic weapons deal twice their base damage, and all Sniper weapons deal triple their base damage). They can be destroyed with taunt kills. Most weapons deal their minimum base damage; exceptions include all weapons for the aforementioned classes, Sentry Guns, and Shotguns (which both deal maximum damage). However, these conditions may change later on due to the fact that this is a beta game mode and is still in development. Robots explode into Dispenser gibs upon death, which can be picked up as Metal or ammunition.
