The Sniper, aka Mr. Mundy, is a rugged and ready crack shot from the Australian outback, and prefers to pick his targets off from a distance with his lethal headshot ability. Taking to hiding in elevated or hard-to-see spots, the Sniper can pick off slower classes like the Heavy with ease. The Sniper is also ideal for eliminating enemy Medics, giving his team a chance to advance into enemy territory and turn the tide of the battle. He is sometimes seen as a huge target for the Spy since the Sniper is often focused on the field in front, and can't pay attention to things behind (which can be countered with the Razorback). See Backstab for more details.

The Sniper on his profession

The Sniper, aka Mr. Mundy, is a rugged and ready crack shot from the Australian outback. Capable of putting down enemies instantly with his rifle's lethal headshot ability, he can also use his Submachine Gun or Kukri to deal with foes at a closer range. Taking to hiding in elevated or hard-to-see spots, the Sniper can pick off slower classes like the Heavy with ease. While the Sniper tends to isolate himself from the frontlines, the Huntsman allows him to move up the field, laying down suppressive volleys of arrows while his ancient and mysterious Jarate powers can increase damage dealt against his foes by himself and teammates alike. Despite his speciality being instantaeous kills with headshots the Sniper is also able to equip the Sydney Sleeper and provide valuable mini-crits to the rest of his team at a distance.

The Sniper is an excellent class for supporting the rest of the team, as he is able to help pin the enemy at choke points from a long range, allowing him to avoid danger. The Sniper has a long-running feud with Spies, who often target him because he is often too focused on the battle field in front to identify threats from behind.

The Sniper is voiced by John Patrick Lowrie.

The Sniper removes the arrow from his bow, twirls it behind him, then stabs it forward fiercely to stun the enemy momentarily. He then brings the arrow back to his bow again, killing the enemy. Perhaps the quickest and easiest taunt kill to use.

Trivia

  • In his fight scene with the Sniper in Meet the Spy, the Spy inflicts a gash on the left side of Sniper's cheek to his nose. The gash was later added to the Sniper's in-game model.
  • The bullets the Sniper keeps in his vest pocket are different than the ones he actually uses for his rifle or his Submachine Gun.
    • If using the Sydney Sleeper, the Sleeper's Jarate darts replace the bullets in his vest pocket, though the bullets remain in his vest while using the Huntsman.
  • The Sniper's parents live on Adelaide Street, Australia.
  • In Meet the Spy, the BLU Sniper holds his rifle left-handed.
  • The Sniper's voice actor, John Patrick Lowrie, is married to Ellen McLain, voice actress for the Administrator, as well as Portal's GLaDOS and Half Life 2's Combine Overwatch Voice.
  • The Sniper's world model is only seen with a fingerless glove on his left hand, and a watch on his left arm, where all of his view models have a glove on both hands, and no watch. (Viewmodel_fov must be set higher to see the watch, or lack thereof.)
  • The Sniper's sunglasses, hair and hat make an appearance in Worms: Reloaded as one of the hats selectable for the player's worms.
  • The Sniper's voice actor, John Patrick Lowrie, also voiced the male citizens from Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode One.
  • Template:W served as the first BLU team Sniper.
  • The Sniper class from Monday Night Combat has a promo item of the Team Fortress 2 Sniper's hat named "Mental Illness", a reference to Sniper's conversation with his father in Meet the Sniper.
