VS Saxton Hale is a community-created game mode added in the Summer 2023 update with the July 12, 2023 Patch.

Gameplay
One player is chosen at random to play as Saxton Hale, and the rest of the players are assigned to RED team with one singular goal: kill Saxton Hale on behalf of their new boss Gray Mann.
Saxton Hale
As Saxton you have several different attacks/abilities to help you take on the Mercs. Some of these have cooldowns that are displayed on the HUD as you play.
Charge attack
Saxton charges up his fist as he yells out different voice lines. You can charge up your fist for as long as you want making your fist glow blue. The charge attack can be used to send Saxton in any direction that he is facing allowing him to reach high places if needed.
- Key(s): Shift, R
- Cooldown: 10 seconds
- Damage: 165
Saxton fist
Saxton will start a 30 second countdown from when he spawns. This attack will turn Saxtons left lower arm bright red with crit sparks all over it. Saxton will also give an audio cue when the cooldown is over alerting the other players that his next melee attack will deal a lethal blow
This attack is not triggered by any special key and will simply affect your regular melee attack on your next successful hit upon an enemy. Upon striking an enemy with Saxton fist, a shockwave will be sent out as you strike, damaging every enemy around you.

Ground pound
When Saxton becomes airborn, he has the ability to preform a ground pound. This ability is very helpful in protecting yourself against air blasting Pyros who try to juggle you. The ability is triggered by holding "Crouch" [CTRL] while in the air. This will Immediately start pushing Saxton downwards.
Upon hitting the ground, a big shockwave will be sent out in every direction from the point of impact, and every merc close to your landing site will take damaged based on their distance from the point of impact.

Brave jump
Similar to Scout, Saxton has the ability to double jump. Useful as a general mobility tool, this ability launches you forward with no cooldown, only needing to touch the ground to perform it again.

Mercenaries
The Mercenaries have a few changes in this gamemode, some of them are as simple as Voice lines.
Voice lines
Every mercenary has a custom Voice line packaged with the maps. These voice lines are used to help the mercenaries alert each other of Saxton’s location without having to use Voice commands or Voice chat.
Example on some of the lines
- Soldier: Contact!
- Sniper: Ruuuuun!
- Scout: I see him!
- Engineer: Look out boys, its a Hailstorm!
- Heavy: He's there!
- Demoman: He's over there!
- Medic: I see him! Protect me!
- Pyro: (No line)
- Spy: (No line)
Abilities
To make it more fair for the mercenaries, when there is only 3 mercenaries left, they all get ["Mini Crits"] on all their weapons.

VS Saxton Hale maps carry the vsh_ prefix; community maps are identified with an italic font.
