Embargo is a community-created Payload map released during the Summer 2024 Update. The map is set in Cuba, featuring a Payload track through the streets and the "Rojo's Casino". The map's story follows a strike team from the USA's (BLU team) efforts to deliver a bomb filled with paint to the center of El Comandante's lair, the fictitious dictator of Cuba, who sends his elite squad (RED team) to stop them.
Embargo was contributed to the Steam Workshop.
Transitory Payload
Embargo features a dynamically shifting Payload cart that changes between a standard Payload cart mechanism and a truck-like cart with a shipping container and a rideable platform behind it. Buildings cannot be placed on the platform. When riding the truck, significantly more cover is provided compared to the standard Payload cart, albeit with limited forward visibility. It also features a built-in BLU Dispenser.
When the first checkpoint is captured by BLU, the rideable platform reveals a rail track to allow BLU to push the Payload into the truck's shipping container where it must be ridden via the platform. When the third checkpoint is captured by BLU, the top of the container opens up, and the Payload is removed via an overhead crane before being subsequently placed back onto the track.
Robots
All around the interior of "Rojo's Casino" are little robots stylized after butlers. They are harmless and populate exclusively the casino area, though they can be attacked and destroyed.
Some of the robots can be found roving the casino floor on a set path, bearing serving trays with health kits, and are exclusively RED-themed. These health kits can be acquired by both teams, but the robots actively pursue injured RED players to deliver kits to, whereas BLU players are ignored. When picked up, the health kits respawn on their serving tray after 10 seconds and, if a robot is damaged, they either stop moving, roll in circles, or flee the player. When destroyed, they respawn after 25 seconds and (if carrying one) drop a health kit on the floor where it can be picked up by a player. Dropped kits despawn after 15 seconds.
Additionally, some of the roving robots can instead be seen carrying martinis on their serving trays, exclusively in the out-of-bounds casino rooms. They function similarly to the kit-carrying robots, though drop nothing on destruction. All roaming robots individually respawn after 25 seconds. The rest of the robots are stationary and can be found attending the roulette wheels, craps tables, and a drink counter. When destroyed, they drop nothing and do not respawn.
Accompanying lines from the announcer play after a robot is destroyed depending on the player's team. If a player is standing in front of a Robot, it rolls around them to get past.
