Map Overview | |
“ | Your robot attackers have been replaced by a single apocalyptic wave of zombies! How many zombies? How does 666 sound, fear friends? Because it sounds like a candy-ass pile of crap to us! 666 is where we started. But where we ended was MORE THAN EIGHT HUNDRED!

Ghost Town is a Mann vs. Machine map was released as part of the Spectral Halloween Special update. The map is set at night, with pumpkins, gravestones, and other Halloween-themed objects scattered around. It is unique in that all robots on the map are reskinned to look like zombies, though this is purely cosmetic. The map contains only 1 mission: the Nightmare mission Caliginous Caper. As it is not playable in Mann Up mode, there is no reward for completing this mission.

Locations
Hatch Area
The hatch is located between the two merc spawns, with fences surrounding the front and sides of the hatch. Stairs on both sides lead up to merc spawn rooms, while a ramp (right side) and set of stairs (left side) lead down to the hatch from Salt Rock, acting as paths for both the mercs and Robots.
- Red Shed: The left side merc spawn. Contains an Upgrade Station.
- Mann Mining Post & Parcel: The right side merc spawn. Contains an Upgrade Station.
- Hotel (Bottom Floor): A small room with the "Panoramic View of Coal", containing large health and ammo kits.
- Hotel (Top Floor): The leftmost pathway for robot waves. On the balcony are medium health and ammo kits.
- Mann Mining (Right Side): The rightmost pathway for robot waves. Inside are large health and ammo kits. Near to the stairs and behind the building are two additional large ammo kits.
Salt Rock
Salt Rock is the central area and structure of the map, with multiple staircases that lead up to the roof of the building. To both sides are lanes, and on the outskirts two buildings that can be accessed by players and used as pathways for robots.
- Mining Accident Simulator: A bottomless pit behind the structure. Pyros can airblast robots into the hole for instant kills.
- Salt Rock Interior: A small room at the front-end of the building. Can be accessed from the left lane or the front windows. Contains a lone large ammo kit.
- Rooftop: On the left side is a short platform. The right side has a bridge to the right lane Ale House and catwalks. Further at the front are powerful Sniper sightlines looking down towards the robot spawn point, as well as large health and ammo kits.
- Mann Mining (Left Side): A bottomless pit, "Mine Tours", is stationed infront of the building. Inside are large health and ammo kits. Used by robots to access the Left Side Hotel, with a small balcony with short sightlines, optimal for Sentry Guns.
- Coal Town Pharmacy: Infront of the building has a small room that contains a large ammo kit.
- Ale House: A small room containing a medium ammo kit. To the left are is a platform with a medium health and large ammo kit, and stairs that can be used by robots to access the Ale House. To the right are catwalks leading to the Right Side Mann Mining Company building.
Main Road
The Main Road is a linear straight path leading from the robot spawn up to Salt Rock, with buildings to both sides. On certain waves a tank comes out from the mineshaft. Near the spawn are Sniper vantage points with large ammo boxes on both sides. The robots only have one path they can take until they reach the Salt Rock.
- Chaps: To the side is a small staircase that leads to the roof of the building, holding a large ammo kit.
- Mann Mining (Main Road): A staircase leads up to the roof of the building from its side, the roof holding a large ammo kit.
- The Cliffs: The spawn point for robots. They may jump down from above the mineshaft, from a small opening next to the Mann Mining building, or next to the "Judgement Shed". It's worth noting that despite the low height of the building, neither players or robots can stand on the Judgement Shed.
- Mining Re-enactments: Underneath the main spawn for regular robots, the mineshaft acts as the spawn point for Tanks, which will break past the barracades of the mineshaft.

Bugs
- When playing with minimal HUD, the bar on the top does not display correctly.
- Some of the zombie reskins encountered on this map do not have an animation for jumping into the bomb hatch; as a result, they appear to simply vanish when the wave is failed.
- When Halloween mode is disabled, the zombies appear as humans.
- Sentry Busters spawn with Demoman's zombified upper arms levitating at their sides, and Spine-Chilling Skull hats on their invisible heads when Halloween mode is activated.
- This can also happen to the Critical Demoknights, appearing to have a Sentry Buster model, but they cannot explode and attack normally.
- At the robot's left drop point, knocking them back may cause them to become stuck in the ground and therefore invulnerable.
Trivia
- There is a medkit and an ammobox that are unreachable without
noclip
. - There is a second version of Caliginous Caper available for this map that does not contain zombies, has slightly different robots, and ends early before every bot is dead.
