+ | | ||
+ | A crazed patriot from the heart of America, the Soldier is the bread and butter general assault unit of the team. Although he's one of the easier to understand classes, he is far from the weakest. Equipped with his Rocket Launcher and 200 Health Points to spare, the Soldier is a highly versatile class for both offensive and defensive roles, and a great starter class to get familiar with the game.
+ | |||
+ | The Soldier is also well known for his spectacular rocket jump. In defiance of all good sense and judgment, the Soldier can shoot a rocket at his feet to launch himself skyward at the cost of some health. This ability allows the Soldier to pop up in unexpected places and reach areas off-limits even to the Scout's double-jump.
+ | |||
+ | The Soldier is voiced by Rick May.

+ | | description = Though he wanted desperately to fight in World War 2, the Soldier was rejected from every branch of the U.S. military. Undaunted, he bought his own ticket to Europe. After arriving and finally locating Poland, the Soldier taught himself how to load and fire a variety of weapons before embarking on a Nazi killing spree for which he was awarded several medals that he designed and made himself. His rampage ended immediately upon hearing about the end of the war in 1949.

+ | *If a Primary weapon is fired when the player is initially spawned into the game, a continuous loop of the reload animation can occur. This can be remedied by firing another shot or switching weapon to Secondary or Melee.
+ | **If the "Auto Reload" option was enabled and started reloading while taunting, the continuous loop of the reload animation will occur.

+ | == Trivia == | ||
+ | *The Soldier has made several posts on the Official Blog, often referring to the Team Fortress 2 team as "The Powers That Be".
+ | *The Soldier's voice actor and the Engineer's voice actor have both voiced the character Wolf O'Donnell from Nintendo's Star Fox (series) series: Rick May (the Soldier) in Star Fox 64, and Grant Goodeve (the Engineer) in Star Fox: Assault.
+ | *In Poker Night at the Inventory, an image of the BLU Soldier makes a cameo as the King card for the black suits (spades and clubs) in the "Team Fortress 2" card deck.
+ | *Stonewall Jackson served as the first BLU team Soldier.
+ | *In Worms: Reloaded, the Soldier's helmet appears as one of the hats selectable for the player's worms.
+ | *The Soldier's beta emblem was a helmet instead of a rocket.

+ | The following are not particularly useful or interesting, but may become so if an extended "Bio" section is included in the future:
+ | *Despite his impressive salary the Soldier chooses to reside in an unkempt apartment living off of army surplus soup and ribs, perhaps as part of his military facade.
+ | *Confederate General Thomas 'Stonewall' Jackson served as the first BLU team soldier, though he used a rifle, not a rocket launcher.

Meet the Soldier | |
“ | I have personally killed 6,078 men in cold blood while looking them in the eye; jumped on 1,455 live grenades; and stuffed fourteen feet of my own intestine back into my stomach.
If that doesn't scare you out of your frilly pink leotards, guess what: You are an idiot and you hate America. — The Soldier on real fear.
|
” |
A crazed patriot from the heart of America, the Soldier is the bread and butter general assault unit of the team. Although he's one of the easier to understand classes, he is far from the weakest. Equipped with his Rocket Launcher and 200 Health Points to spare, the Soldier is a highly versatile class for both offensive and defensive roles, and a great starter class to get familiar with the game.
The Soldier is also well known for his spectacular rocket jump. In defiance of all good sense and judgment, the Soldier can shoot a rocket at his feet to launch himself skyward at the cost of some health. This ability allows the Soldier to pop up in unexpected places and reach areas off-limits even to the Scout's double-jump.
The Soldier is voiced by Rick May.

- If the "Auto Reload" option was enabled and started reloading while taunting, the continuous loop of the reload animation will occur.
