Map Overview | |
Asteroid is a Robot Destruction beta map, released in the July 8, 2014 patch. It is set in a space station. The goal of the map is to head to the other team's base and destroy robots wandering near their spawn. However; the player can steal a "reactor core", which holds all of the opposing teams points, and bring it back to their base to steal a certain amount of the enemy team's points, depending on how many points you loaded it with.
As of the July 8, 2014 patch, it is unfinished in development and still in Beta, but the TF2 community is allowed to play-test it and give feedback to Valve on how to balance the map.
Contents
Robots
The robots are separated into three areas, named A, B, and C. They are defenseless, but will make a feeble attempt to escape attackers. They are protected by what appears to be an Ubercharge when the robots in front of them are alive (ex B and C are protected if A is alive). There are two robots at each area, and all have the same maximum health of 500. After 7 seconds without taking damage, they heal themselves at a rate of 8 health per second.

Bugs
The robots sometimes display %HEALTH% instead of a number indicating health, or display nothing at all when moused over, especially if the player backs through them. The player can walk through enemy robots.
Trivia
- This is the first map to contain Teleporters that weren't built by a player, but still teleport other players.
- There is commented out I/O to disable the laser trap when all the robots are destroyed.
