Meet the Sniper | |
![]() |
“ | Snipin's a good job, mate! It's challengin' work, outta doors. I guarantee you'll not go hungry, cause at the end of the day, long as there's two people left on the planet, someone is gonna want someone dead.
— The Sniper on his profession
|
” |
Hailing from the Australian Outback, the Sniper is a tough and ready crack shot. The Sniper's main role on the battlefield is to pick off important enemy targets from afar using his Sniper Rifle and its ability to headshot. He is effective at long range, but weaker at close range, where he is forced to use his Submachine Gun or his Kukri. As a result, the Sniper tends to perch on higher grounds or in hard-to-see places, where he can easily pin down enemies at chokepoints.
Although he is typically known for instanteously killing enemies at a distance, the Sniper can use the Huntsman to get closer to the enemy. On the other hand, the Sydney Sleeper, or the mysterious Jarate, allow him to take on a support role by causing enemies to take increased damage.
The Sniper is voiced by John Patrick Lowrie.

Basic strategy
- The longer you spend zoomed in using the scope, the more damage the shot will inflict.
- Aim for the head to inflict critical damage.
- Zoom in with the sniper rifle by hitting MOUSE2.
- Use your secondary slot Submachine Gun to deal with nearby enemies.
- When you use Jarate on a enemy, it will make every shot you hit a mini-crit, therefore try not to waste it.

The Sniper removes the arrow from his bow, twirls it behind him, then stabs it forward fiercely while muttering menacingly: "Stab, stab, stab". - The Sniper's voice actor, John Patrick Lowrie, is married to Ellen McLain who voices the Administrator, as well as GLaDOS from the Portal series and Half Life 2's Combine Overwatch Voice. Lowrie also voices all of the citizens in Half Life 2.
- The first BLU team Sniper resembled Template:W.
- The Sniper's sunglasses, hair and hat make an appearance in Worms: Reloaded as one of the hats selectable for the players' worms.
- The Sniper class from Monday Night Combat received the Sniper's regular stock hat, under the name "Mental Illness", during a cross promotion with Team Fortress 2. The name of the item is a reference to Meet the Sniper during the Sniper's conversation with his dad explaining that being an assassin, as he claims to be, is a job, while being a crazed gunman, as his dad thinks he is, is mental sickness.
- The Sniper is referred to as a "camper" by the other classes due to the fact that sniping is most often associated with the act of camping in a video game.
