Winter Ridge publicity blurb

Winter Ridge is a community-created King of the Hill map released during the Smissmas 2025 update.

Winter Ridge is set within a coastal desolate industrial area experiencing turbulent frigid weather. When the center control point is captured there is a chance for a snow storm to blow through for 15 seconds, rattling players as a thick cloud of fog is cast onto the map with a strong windgust sound effect.[1]

Winter Ridge was contributed to the Steam Workshop.

Locations

  • Spawns: The RED team spawns inside of a large lumber facility while BLU spawns within the confines of a steel factory. Each team has three separate spawn exits available.
  • Dead Tree: Located in front of the spawns, on the left/right side, is a open field with a dead tree in its middle.
  • Dugout: This is one of the paths leading to Mid. It is a narrow cave that starts near the Dead Tree area and leads to a medium health and ammo pack.
  • Warehouse: A large, single-room building that offers the quickest route from the Spawn to Mid. It can be accessed through two big and wide open barn doors.
  • Stairwell: Inside the Warehouse's right/left wall is a stairwell leading to the top of the Railway Bridge. Found beneath these stairs is also a medium health and ammo pack.
  • Mid: This is the central-most part of the map. Found in its middle is a dilapidated barn that houses the central control point. There are several openings in this barn from the front entrance facing the Railway Bridge, two large ground level holes in the wall covered by awnings, two smaller holes further back and a larger opening on a pile of rocks. The areas surrounding is called the barnyard.
  • Railway Bridge: Found on the right/left side of mid is a railway bridge elevated above ground that connects the two Stairwells. Below the bridge is a cliff with a small health pack and a medium ammo pack.
  • Perch: Opposite the Railway Bridge, on the other side of mid, is an opening in the cliff that leads to a perch a waterfall draining into an adjacent river. It features a medium health pack and a large ammo pack.

Trivia

  • Winter Ridge started off as an Arena map, but the developer thought there was a general negative conception among members of the TF2 community towards the game mode. This influenced them to switch the map's game mode to King of the Hill.[2]
