A Teutonic man of medicine with a tenuous adherence to medical ethics, the Medic is nonetheless the primary healing class of the team. Although the Medic does not possess the best arsenal for direct combat, he can typically still be found near the front-lines, healing wounded teammates while trying to stay out of trouble. When his Medi Gun or Kritzkrieg is focused on a teammate, they will quickly regain health. Unharmed teammates will have their health buffed beyond the normal limit. While healing, the Medic's ÜberCharge bar will fill up until the weapon begins to crackle, at which point he can then activate a deadly charge that either makes himself and an ally temporarily invulnerable or gives his patient 100% Critical shots for up to 8 seconds.
The Medic is capable of regenerating health over time; the longer a Medic stays out of combat, the faster his health will recover. A damaged Medic will regenerate health at a rate of 3 HP per second, which scales up over the following ten seconds to a maximum of 6 HP per second (though carrying the Blutsauger reduces the regeneration rate from 3–6 to 1–4).

- The Medic was the first class of the 9 to receive his own class specific update. This update was prompted due to players feeling the Medic was underpowered and was therefore the least played class overall. After the Gold Rush/Medic Update was released, the amount of players playing Medic on a regular basis increased dramatically.
- Although he lived through the Second World War and his bio hints at a dark past, Valve has stated that the Medic is not a former Nazi. [citation needed]
- Along with the Pyro, the Medic has not received any new lines, either in-game or in the Meet the Team videos, since the game was released.
- Valve's tips on the loading screens stated that the Kritzkrieg's taunt heals 10 health. Community testing shows that the Kritzkrieg actually heals 11 health.
- The Medic's glasses & hair make an appearance in Worms: Reloaded as one of the selectable hats for the player's worms.
- Ironically, the Medic is the only class to have perfect health compared to the other eight classes.
- The Scout suffers from radiation poisoning due to regular consumption of Bonk! Atomic Punch and Crit-a-cola
- The Soldier has damaged his legs due to Rocket jumps.
- The Pyro suffers from cancer due to the fact that he (or she) is under constant exposure to asbestos, which is what his flame-retardant suit is made from.
- The Demoman is a heavy drinker.
- The Heavy is obese.
- The Engineer sawed off his right hand so he can use the Gunslinger.
