Sydney Sleeper (redone)
Remade the Sydney Sleeper, now with the new kill icon. And looking at the list of weapons that need to be redone, I was wondering if anyone can redo the videos, or the ones who made the videos originally. And once I'm making a new section, I'll just repost my latest link to the Bushwacka video, which hasn't seem to have gotten any response. 20xx0 18:13, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
- The ones that need to be redone can be done by anyone, just make sure you mimic the video as close as possible while fixing the things listed.
- Your Sydney Sleeper video looks good. I am watching without sound right now, so assuming you fixed the unbalanced audio issue you had earlier, you can go ahead and upload that and I will add it to the channel.
- The Bushwacka one also looks good, but it needs the new kill icon. You showed the fire vulnerability very well. Again, I can't comment on the sound or music. --Nate (T | C) 18:25, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
- Here's the download link for the Sydney Sleeper. I'll post the Bushwacka video as soon as I'm back. 20xx0 19:24, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
- For the Bushwacka, stick the music so that the end of the music is at the end of the video. It's better to leave music out of the backpack view rather than out of the rest of the video. I've done that for the Wrangler demonstration~ — Wind 19:36, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
- I just noticed that in the Bushwacka video, during the first kill there's a blue sniper corpse in the background, but it disappears by the second kill, so do I have to redo it, or it isn't that big of a problem?Take a look for yourselves. And here's the Sydney Sleeper (this time I got the taunt right!) Also I had free time so I remade the Frying Pan, but I once again fear that the audio is not balanced, but I'll redo it as soon as you take a look at it and point out any other mistakes.20xx0 21:05, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, it is a problem, also given the copious amount of blood already on the barrels and on the floor in that video. Ideally, the stage should be all clean in demonstrations. One or two blood splatters is fine, as it's not quite easy and it's a hassle to reload the map every time. But a non-natural corpse and yellow barrels turned red is a bit too much, sorry :( Could you upload the original for the Sydney Sleeper? And the audio is indeed not balanced, as there is a bit of fuzz/cracking in the frying pan "BONG" sounds — Wind 00:19, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- Fair enough, here's the download link. Expect the Bushwacka and Frying Pan in the near future (again). And since I am new to this whole Wiki thing, I keep having questions. Right now I'd like to know if I have the permission to reserve a weapon for demonstration, or do I have to report it here and someone will reserve it for me? 20xx0 00:58, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- Just edit the page and add yourself — Wind 02:43, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- Soo, did my Sydney Sleeper get uploaded yet? No rush, I'll wait. In the meantime, here's the Frying Pan, now with balanced audio! 20xx0 11:45, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- And once again, The Bushwacka, and a redone Black Box. 20xx0 18:28, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- Sydney Sleeper v3 uploaded --Nate (T | C) 22:07, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- Bushwacka: Okay save for the fact that the bot is named "Friendly_Sniper" (should be a space, not an underscore). Frying Pan looks ok, please upload original~ Black Box doesn't show splash damage well enough (only shows it on the Medic by the end but it's hard to see), forgot to reload at the end, and there's a long black screen at the end of the video — Wind 22:09, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- Frying pan download, Bushwacka v8 or something and if I manage to make new videos, shall I put them in this section or make a new one ? 20xx0 15:42, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'm uploading the Frying Pan video right now. As for new videos, I would say new sections, just so that it is easier to follow the discussion/feedback on each one. Since you are getting quite good at this, for future videos feel free to post the youtube link and the download link together, so I can upload them faster (assuming this isn't terribly inconvenient for you). --Nate (T | C) 15:58, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- I still don't have the opinion on the Bushwacka and the recently uploaded Frying Pan cuts off the last 8 seconds or so. 20xx0 17:29, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'm at work so I can't give a good review of your Bushwacka video right now. As for the Frying Pan, I unlisted it and will try reuploading it when I get home and have better internet. I'm assuming its not a problem with the file, its probably a bad download (my work has really poor internet connection) --Nate (T | C) 17:38, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- OK, reuploaded and not cut off. I guess I learned my lesson about trying to upload videos while at work--Nate (T | C) 21:21, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- But what about the Bushwacka video? It seems to be forgotten. 20xx0 18:06, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
- It looks good, but Wind mentioned in your other section that there is an audio glitch when hitting the pyro. Can you fix that please? --Nate (T | C) 18:43, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
- Bushwacka, I think I've made almost 10 of these, but the last ones have been all the same video file, I just custom added the hit sounds, they still don't sound right, but I'm hoping for the best. If this also doesn't get accepted, I should probably redo it for 1 more time. 20xx0 20:14, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
- Still the same audio bug the first time you hit the Pyro (0:05), the sound "skips". It's the only thing wrong with it D: — Wind 21:39, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
- I made a Bushwacka, hoping to stop this section from overflowing with Bushwacka links. Also how can I put a space in a bots name? If I do, it will only give the bot the name of the first word before the space. 20xx0 11:08, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- Put quotes around the name — Wind 22:31, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll do it when I need to but as you can see, I edited out the underscore and there's no audio bug, so is the video OK? 20xx0 09:29, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well that's nicely done but it's still visible for a moment when you hover the bot, and it's also visible in the kill feed on the top right. So yes it's a (lettle) problem~ Also, you can make it not swing his knife when the Pyro fires, by using bot_forcefireweapon. — Wind 17:56, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- It makes the Pyro shoot the flamethrower continously, so I can't show afterburn. I tried the command "bind o bot_forcefireweapon tf_weapon_flamethrower" and then "bind p bot_forcefireweapon tf_weapon_flame" to make the Pyro begin shooting and then quickly stop, but they didn't work. Since I'm not the best at using the console, could anyone tell me what did I do wrong in these bind commands? 20xx0 18:51, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
- You must put quotes around the commands to bind. (
bind o "bot_forcefireweapon tf_weapon_flamethrower"
,bind p "bot_forcefireweapon tf_weapon_flame"
) — Wind 02:05, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Sandman and Minigun
Made 2 new demonstrations. Once again please help me correct my mistakes. Minigun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=570k8f6_p0Y Sandman: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Cwh7zrh8rQ Glowz 20:34, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
- Sandman: Use the spy to tauntkill, not the Medic. I checked other videos and it shows a response.
- Minigun: Shoot at the target.
- Those are the only ones I can find. Shock394 23:02, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
- Alright:
- Both videos: Framerate is low and the audio is unbalanced (in-game audio is not loud enough compared to the music, and feels like it was clipped as it has a fuzz to it)
- Both videos: Music end (abruptly) 1 second before the video does. Either add a fade until the end of the video, or let the music keep going until the end of the video
- Minigun: Move closer to the wooden barrier. This is because the Minigun's muzzleflash has a bug which makes the muzzleflash look weird with the wooden barrier's top part. If you move closer to the barrier, this bug will be hidden.
- Minigun still: Show complete spin-up/spin-down animations (giving time for the barrel to completely stop spinning)
- Minigun: Show movement speed difference when revved up
- What Shock394 said (by "shoot at the target" he means "Shoot at the cardboard target at the back")

iron curtain/brass beast/natascha
redid my original iron curtain vid also working on brass beast and natascha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMn3EIBcfSM if you like will provide upload but 12:51, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- Looks/sounds perfect except for one minor issue that got overlooked in the previous upload. Notice how the muzzle flash clips through the wooden barrier? Yeah, just take a step back so that doesn't happen, and I'll upload it. --Nate (T | C) 20:58, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
Fists of Steel
Link, download. Vulnerabilities and resistances are shown better and it has the new kill icon (if there is a new kill icon). 20xx0 14:53, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- Looks good, only issue I have is the whole 'heavy punching the wall' part. Isn't there a command you can bind to make a specific bot attack, but not others?--Nate (T | C) 19:59, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- If there is, could someone please tell me? Because it's a pain dealing with all the bot commands and binds. 20xx0 20:04, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- There is, "bot_forcefireweapon (name of the weapon, like tfweapon_fists)". You can confirm the correct weapon name after killing someone with it and checking the console log. :) - Zhnigo 20:34, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- That's what I used, but it made both of the Heavys punch. I need a way to make only one of them punch. 20xx0 20:36, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, then why not just have the attacker be a different class? --Nate (T | C) 20:38, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- But would it be okay if I use the Heavy as an attacker in 3 scenes and an Engineer in 1 scene? 20xx0 20:46, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- I would keep the attacker class the same across all 4 scenes. I dont think it matters what class it is, as long as they have a ranged attack and a meele attack. --Nate (T | C) 20:49, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- So basically you're saying that I should redo all of the 4 scenes with a different class? In that case I hope you dont mind if I stall a little bit with this demonstration, since I won't have any time on my hands in the next few days. 20xx0 21:11, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

- I'd like to add that the second part (showing damage resistance/vulnerability) goes a bit too fast. Wait a bit before and after transitions~ And since that part has to be redone, might as well do it with another class to demonstrate. I suggest using the Soldier, because rockets will kill fast enough and because it's very easy for the player to count the rockets, rather than rely on the comparison of time spent in front of a firing minigun, if that made sense. — Wind 21:23, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- Maybe a split screen for demonstrating would be better, if I shoot the rockets and melee at an equal pace? It would also save time, since I've seen different videos showing the vulnerabilities/resistances separately, or with a split screen. How would you think what should be best? 20xx0 19:38, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
- I feel either way is acceptable. They both clearly show that with one item you die in x number of shots, while with the other items you die in y number of shots. --Nate (T | C) 19:40, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well, here's the remade version with the soldier. 20xx0 12:02, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- I personally think it'd be better split-screen but it's fine. However, the Soldier missed one of his Shovel hits, which makes the comparison a little off :( — Wind 17:56, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

My first TF2 Video and my First Attempt
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VO-bCfraO7U So....I think i failed And...I don't know why my Ingame Sound doesn't Work with Fraps
Yup the sound is a problem. However some other problems.
- Letterboxed
- When you switch away from the weapon menu you don't have the gunslinger out
- Missed a hit on the solider
- Need to look up more to see the damage indicators
- Didn't tauntkill the spy or taunt at all
- Graphics seem a little to low for my liking
Not trying to harp, just trying to help. You got the basics down, now you just need to fix the problems. Good Luck on your next take :) KingofKoopas 19:50, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
- Also you have crits enabled, since the last hit on the soldier was 195 damage. The weaponref config should disable crits as much as i know. 20xx0 19:53, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
- Careful, this is DirectX 8, while the requirement is DirectX 9. I don't think your computer can handle that :( — Wind 20:48, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
Demonstrating item sets
Here's an idea: demonstration for item sets. Demos of stuff like:
- Scout with 125 HP gets hit. Set Scout with 150 HP hets hit.
- Soldier gets hit by sentry. Set Soldier with set gets hit by sentry and survives longer.
- Pyro runs, get killed by boolets. Set Pyro runs faster, get killed by boolets faster.
- Demo gets hit by fire. Set Demo gets hit by fire and takes less damage.
- Heavy gets hit by crits. Set Heavy gets hit by crits and survives longer (?)
- Medic takes damage, recovers health. Set Medic takes damage, recovers health faster.
- Sniper gets headshooted. Set Sniper gets headshotted and survives.
- Spy cloaks, decloaks, bumps into someone. Set Spy decloaks with no sound, bumps into someone too.
And stuff like that. Of course, that would require people to have the set hats. -- OluapPlayer (t) 21:56, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
- Support Yes, I like dis weapons. — Wind 21:57, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose According to the project page, the point of this project is to "To demonstrate how weapons work (duh); firing animation, reloading animation, projectile trajectory, speed, damage, and simply viewmodel". I feel like demonstrating sets doesn't apply to 6/7 of those objectives. IMHO, the set bonuses are quite simple and self explanatory in comparison to some of the weapons --Nate (T | C) 23:17, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
- Support If you're sticking strictly to the objectives, then all non-projectile weapons and melee weapons each disobey one of the seven. Plus there's no reason not to show it; for example, some people might want to see just how well a tank-busting Soldier can stand up to a Sentry. Either way, if we do make these videos, I'd suggest putting them on the pages for the set hats rather than the main Item sets page - BUT the Demo and Medic sets don't actually include hats, so that might be a problem. Ideas? —烏Γ (kaw at me), 02:06, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- SupportI think this is a good idea. I've always been curious has to how much the sets do, like for the Tankbuster I don't know how big of a deal 20% is. I say go for it. KingofKoopas 04:00, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- Support I was just going to suggest this, I guess we'd put the demo videos on the stat bonus page. I have all the set bonuses, so if this gets approved I can help with it. Perhaps for the resistance ones we could have a 3rd person perspective showing the decrease of health differing or something of the sort. Raptor Llama 21:07, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

A suggestion
Maybe all of those who got accepted into creating a successful weapon demonstration should get the wiki cap. They helped not only the wiki, but all the people who have watched the demonstrations. If you get me. JackIsASpy 19:55, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- The wiki cap is meant for people who have made significant and valuable contributions to the wiki over the course of a long time (several months at least). Doing this videos is a significant and valuable contribution, but doing a few videos does not come close to the amount of time and work that other people have put into other areas of this wiki --Nate (T | C) 19:57, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- But think about the hat craze of TF2. There'd be video submissions flying everywhere for you guys. JackIsASpy 19:58, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- Or how about a Wiki Cap for minors. If you get me. JackIsASpy 20:02, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

- I installed the custom Sounds myself to help people know the difference between them, just something i thought would help. And about the other skins i completely forgot to remove them. If i can be bothered making & uploading a new one, i'll fix these problems. Yackemflam
- Nope Everything should be as non-custom as possible except HudDamageAccount.res. Execution-wise, I'd stay in the little barrier thingy and shoot all 3 bots a bit, then start rocket jumping around (calmly). Also, please follow the reloading thingy more closely (only reload when completely out of ammo, let the reload finish completely, and reload at the very end before taunting) — Wind 05:31, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

I think i should show the vulnerabilities as well. Must also stops a little early KingofKoopas 19:03, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
- Also, keep your cursor a bit longer over the item in the backpack view because the tooltip is really long. Also, antialiasing seems to be off (minimum is 2x), and framerate is a bit low (I hope it won't get worse with antialiasing on...). On a smaller note, don't hide the cursor in the backpack view (it's a checkbox in Fraps) — Wind 02:05, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Kritzkrieg
Yes, the video is intentionally long so that I can ask whether I should speed up/fade through the building of the ubercharge to cut down on video length, or whether it should be left as is. As for content, is there anything I missed?

- good video mate just cut out the first part until 98% ubercharge is around about gotten but tother then that it demonstrates very well what the capabilities are of the kritzkreig - Lexar - talk 12:05, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
New version here, ubercharge build up faded.

- I didn't get a chance to watch it, but if you don't have it maybe it would be a good idea to show a comparison with the normal medigun for just a few seconds, just to show that the Kritzkrieg is faster at building up charge. —烏Γ (kaw at me), 00:54, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- It does compare it with the Medigun charge rate by having another (regular) Medic heal someone else
- Pretty cool~ Two things though:
- Don't use the flamethrower to show the healing effect of the taunt, because the afterburn decreases your health and reduces the effectiveness of the effect. Use any non-burning non-bleeding weapon instead
- Make the two Medic/OtherClass pairs more distinct; the current layout looks a bit cluttered, not sure where the healing beams are going
- When fading, make sure the camera angle changes during the transition. The fade was almost unnoticeable otherwise, making it look like the charge had just gone up in one shot
- In the backpack view... isn't that a regular Medigun? If it always does that on kritzkrieg, then it's fine.
Really good demo though; is it really all bots? That's some impressive automation, if it is. — Wind 02:05, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Darn it I was going to do this after school today lol
Well anyhow it looks good to me KingofKoopas 20:33, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
- Some things~
- The cloaked spy reveal is a bit confusing. Is the spy coated in urine the same as the one seen in the dark corner? Did he move? It's not obvious if it's the same or not. I'd suggest putting the spy somewhere (not the usual dark corner though, because, well, it's dark, so the effect doesn't show well), making him cloak, wait a bit (he doesn't move), and throw jarate at him.
- At the beginning of the video (right after the backpack view), you have the jarate selected but switch to the Kukri less than a second later. I suggest waiting a bit more while holding the Jarate, before switching to the Kukri~

- Alright, here goes~
- For the batting part, don't mvoe the camera angle up and down all the time. Pick an angle (where the damage numbers are visible enough) and stick to it
- No need to demonstrate every distance. Show short range, medium range, longest-range-possible-in-that-weaponref-map, and then 2fort. This should really shorten the video
- If you do want to show that the ball can kill, you can bat the Medic until he's low on health and then shooting him with the ball
- If possible, try to make the poor Medic move a bit when he can to show that he can still move
- While I agree that the 2fort part is quite creative and funny, the BLU sniper, serves no demonstrative purpose, so it shouldn't be in a weapon demonstration (srs bzns)

Have at these
I'm sure you'll find lots of things to criticize. You always do. Armisael 22:05, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
I also stuck in a sandman demo that I had already recorded when the one above this went up. Armisael 01:52, 18 January 2011 (UTC
- Well, you know me~
- Backburner: It's actually a Sandman demonstration, but it's not bad. I'd actually say yes, but the Sandman demonstration of i-ghost right above makes me hesitate. Can you demonstrate the full-length shot?
- Crusader's Crossbow: Forgot to shoot the target at the back; also, try to damage the heavy more; the way it is right now, the heavy almost always gets full health, so it seems like the crossbow's healing is always the same, but the heavy's maximum health cap hides the difference (which isn't the case)
- Iron Curtain: Has the same nuzzleflash clipping glitch as the demonstration video a few sections above. Should also demonstrate right-click and show spin-up/spin-down delays (how long does it take from pressing the left button to actually shooting?)
- Minigun: Same as above
- Ullapool Caber: Perfect :3
— Wind 02:05, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
As far as I can tell, there is nowhere where that a full length shot can be lined up. Just for fun, a brass beast video.
Also, on the front page, why does it say that there is no video for the flamer? There's one on the weapon page. Armisael 03:23, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- If you look at the flamethrower video, you should show the damage falloff for the backburner. I was told to do that for when I did the Degreaser. KingofKoopas 18:43, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- Backburner: Yes, please show the damage falloff thingy (on the Pyro), as well as the full duration of afterburn (on the Soldier).
- Crusader's Crossbow/Iron Curtain/Minigun: Those are all the same videos as last time. Did you copy/paste the wrong link?
— Wind 21:25, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
The link right above? That say redux? They happen to be the same, but that's because I updated both of them. Note that the in the crossbow video I do shoot the target at the back. The backburner video will be done. Armisael 00:36, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
- Alright then, but I see little difference o.o
- Crusader's Crossbow: Doesn't show taunt. I like how the Medic is pinned to the wall though... If it has no taunt, then my bad, and please upload the original~
- Iron Curtain/Minigun still have the muzzleflash glitch; move forward to hide it. They also don't show right-clicking D: (going from being idle to just right-clicking, and then releasing)
— Wind 01:55, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
The crossbow in fact has no taunt. DL link is in the video description. The other two will be uploaded with the backburner. Those may take a few days (today is the last day of the weekend for me, due to weather). - Armisael 02:06, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giQn5lb53yk
I put this one separately because it's very much a guess at an appropriate way to do the demonstration. I chose to use the kukri instead of the direct hit because it's both countable and because it allows me to easily be a sniper as well.
Thoughts? Armisael 00:17, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
How did you get a bot with an unlock? KingofKoopas 00:24, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- It's actually one of my spare accounts I was running in the background with sandboxie. Armisael 01:52, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- It was not a bot (dun dun dun, dramatic music here). Also, I don't actually see anything wrong with this. It's not as fancy as a split-screen or something but it works quite well regardless. — Wind 02:05, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

- Not a problem; I just did the same thing with a sandman video. Armisael 01:52, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- The same can be said to this video ("try to damage the heavy more; the way it is right now, the heavy almost always gets full health, so it seems like the crossbow's healing is always the same, but the heavy's maximum health cap hides the difference (which isn't the case)"). Also, it would be nice to make the heavy not shoot when the Soldier does (not a big bug but annoying). To do that, you can use the bot_forcefireweapon command~ — Wind 02:05, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Shortstop and shiv is already done
As for the problems
- All of them
- Letterboxed
- No taunts
- Don't start with your cursor over the weapon in the loadout
- Battalions Backup
- It only takes 175 to fill the meter. shouldn't have needed to refil your health
- Shouldn't have died at the end
- Should have showed it blocking crits
- Watches
I think they all don't show enough.
- Natasha
- Didn't show the demonstration, just showed the slowdown
- Rocket Launcher
- Killed the targets too fast
- What's with the brass beast?
- Didn't show splash damage
- Stickylauncher
- Didn't start on the launcher
- Music ends early
- Again moved to fast
This sums up most of the problems. As it stands non of these can be used. sorry but they all look rushed. KingofKoopas 03:14, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- Indeed. Please try focusing on the technical problems first (correct ratio, no letterboxing) and please don't do a lot of them at once until you've done enough to know your way around it (otherwise, you end up having to redo a lot, like right now) — Wind 07:02, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

- Hm~ Needs to demonstrate that you can have up to 8 stickies total, that you can detonate them in mid-air, that you can detonate them while reloading the Sticky Launcher. Also, I think the weaponref map is large enough to demonstrate those jumps... I may be wrong though — Wind 21:25, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
While I know it's big enough, I think 2fort shows the distance and speed better becuase of how open it is. The weaponref course has a lot of obstacles. If it's a big deal I can use the wepaonref map, however I think 2fort does it better. KingofKoopas 21:40, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well, try recording both and see which one looks best. — Wind 22:08, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Brass Beast (redone)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQXC4jGQj7U, added a part with another heavy to compare revved up movement speed. Any improvement needed? --Garticuno 23:45, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- Pretty good, but two things:
- Show the spin-up/spin-down time difference (to show that, look at the Heavy at a 45-degrees angle (so that you're not targeting each other) and hold fire while he mimics you, to show that he can fire before you can; then proceed to the movement speed difference (in the same clip)
- The same muzzleflash glitch that all Minigun demos have is there. Move forward until it disappears before starting the recording.

- Slow down there, you have to wait longer on the loadout screen so the message on the minigun video wouldn't appear. You still have problems that I told you before. Shock394 23:12, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
- Ullapool Caber was done a few posts ago, but not uploaded by the author yet, so yours may not make it if he uploads it. Also the case for the Sandman...
- For the Minigun one, however: The graphics quality is low, especially the lighting (look at any other weapon demonstration video and compare). There is chat text visible soon after you close the backpack. Forgot to shoot target at the back. Demonstrating revved-up speed is good though~ — Wind 03:04, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Buff Banner (Redone)
The current version the wiki uses is marked for replacement, due to having a visible clock and not using Fast Weapon Switch. Here is my replacement version. The quality in the source file is much better, of course, but I chose a severe compression method due to how much trouble YouTube normally gives me with uploads. Mainman (Talk ▪ Contribs.) 20:45, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
- Do not make the character turn around, it will make the demonstration go longer. Shock394 23:00, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
- There's a few technical problems with it, and since the video will be uploaded on YouTube in the end, they have to look good on YouTube. First, the video is letterboxed (black bars on all 4 sides); the colors look also washed out with a tint of green (compare to the other videos to see the difference). Did you use x264vfw as suggested? The audio is also of kindof poor quality (especially the in-game sound). The demonstration itself is good though, save the thing Shock394 pointed out (no need to circle around the mouse either). Also, try to taunt while the Buff Banner is active so that the flag is visible on the Soldier's back. — Wind 03:04, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
- As Wind witnessed on IRC, I couldn't get my video editing software to co-operate, as it was always making the visuals muddy during export, which made adding Training Video music useless because I'd end up sacrificing one thing for another. The video footage itself, pre-import, is fine (I uploaded it with no audio this time, not realising that "AudioSwap" doesn't let you switch the audio with a file on your own computer), and you don't need to take my word for it that the in-game audio is of a good quality too, since you can download it here and see for yourself. As agreed over IRC, Wind will grab this download and try adding the music (cp_steel Training Video) himself, at which point it should hopefully be suitable to use in the project. Mainman (Talk ▪ Contribs.) 16:05, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- That works, I guess, it's just way mroe convoluted than it has to be :( But it's fine. Now get on solving the rest of the problems~ (recording aspect ratio must be 16:9, don't circle the mouse around, don't rotate the model, taunt while Buff Banner is active, don't use a custom crosshair) — Wind 16:10, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

- Could you use (vertical) split screen to show the same scene from both angles in a synchronous manner? (No need to retake any footage, just stitch them together)
- Ideally, the scene should be set up on the record (build the teleporter entrance and exit in the demo itself)
- Should show telefragging on both the UberCharging medic and the UberCharged target
- Spy sap-telefragging the Engineer should show the scene from both point of views like the other scenes do

Sandman - Suggestion for Plan
Here's a complete list of what I think it should be like:
- 1. Kill all 3 enemies normally with melee hits.
- 2. Go behind the Spy and taunt-kill him from behind to show the corpse flying far away.
- 3. Have one Scout with default loadout getting damage (eg. a rocket from a near Rocket Launcher-Soldier) and surviving, while other one wielding the Sandman receives the same amount of damage and dies.
- 4. Throw the Baseball on a wall and show that it can be collected.
- 5. Have an enemy Scout throw his Baseball on a wall and show that it also can be collected.
- 6. Show the Baseball hitting one enemy from close range (no stun), medium range (stun) and far range (total stun).
- 7. Use the Baseball to reflect projectiles such as enemy grenades, Jarate, Mad Milk and other Baseballs.

- Better but~
- There are some "clueless-looking moments", like from 0:37 to 0:43, where you just look around without much purpose
- Comparison should be split-screen if possible
- Second Soldier starts with 171 HP during the comparison, which makes it inaccurate
- Chat text visible at 0:57, 1:02, 1:07, 1:17

Weapon Demonstration Player
The youtube template is making the player 4:3 instead of 16:9. So that needs to be fixed. Also, it might be worth mentioning that a smaller size of about 450px width for the players on the individual pages would look nicer. Right now it is huge, and very ugly. -- Benjamuffin (talk | contribs) 02:32, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- I agree about the player's being 4:3, it should be 16:9 since all the weapon demonstrations are. I disagree in regards to the player's size, it seems pretty reasonable right now, to me.--Spyonce 02:47, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- This is already planned. If you look at the code of
{{Weapon Demonstration}}
, you'll see that it includesratio=16:9
. However, the current mediawiki plugin that Valve was generous enough to install doesn't actually have ratio support. However, I will eventually write a javascript thingy to change the dimensions of all videos on the page to work around the problem. Thanks to the ratio parameter already being in there, there'll be nothing to update~ — Wind 02:56, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Boster Basher and Claidheamh Mòr
Took a stab at both of 'em.
--Garticuno 07:41, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Both are pretty good, except the color balance. Try comparing them with other videos, yours look really overcontrasted. So please reduce the contrast (might be in your codec settings; if it's not, then add a contrast filter that tones it down to compensate) or use x264vfw as recommended~ Content-wise, Boston Basher is perfect, and one little thing with the Claymore: both charges should start at the same time. It's easier to compare if they start at the same time than if they end at the same time. You can use the
getpos
andsetpos
commands in order to start in the exact same position and angle in both versions too, rather than relying on external signs for orientation — Wind 15:47, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Boston Basher
Pros:
- Good fluid motion and good start in the Backpack
- Self-harm with the Basher and then hitting surfaces was good to prove there is no blood penalty if you actually hit something
- Using the Basher to reveal the Cloaked Spy was a smart Demonstration
- Using the Basher to give you the extra boosts to clear the gap was an intelligent nod to the Basher's Article
Cons:
- Failure to hit the Target on the Crates. It can be reached with Double Jump, and will display a "HIT!" Marker when struck
- Taunt comes at the end of the Vid as a way of signing off. Not a big problem though
- As already said, color balance was a bit off
Claidheam Mòr
Pros:
- Comparison of Charges was well put together and showed the difference
- Good Demonstration of the Weapon's damage counter
- Sharp Demonstration with no nonsense which can make a clear Demonstration
- Hovering over the weapon to show Information. Just make sure not to close the Backpack too quick.
Cons:
- Like the Basher's Video, failure to hit the Target again. Might've been reachable by standing on the Payload and then jumping onto the loose Demoman Target before jumping across to the Soldier Target.
- Charges were out of sync and should have been launched at the same time to properly show the Claidheam Mòr's extra 0.5 Second Duration instead of just the distance travelled.
- Referring to above point, maybe planting an enemy at the back of the room to show how they would've been out of reach of the Eyelander's/Bottle's/whatever's Charge, but they would've been caught by the Claidheam Mòr's Charge.
Review by Lancer anti-tank Rocket 19:36, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure there's no requirement to hit the target in the back when demonstrating melee weapons. Also, for the charge part of the Claidheam Mor, I had the charges end at the same time rather than start at the same time. Anything I should re-do/edit before uploading? --Garticuno 22:13, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, derp. Missed Wind's comment reading through the first time. Re-did the Boston Basher, kept it exactly the same except with less contrast. Re-did the charge section of the claymore as suggested and lowered contrast.

- May I say? I told it to the one who made the previous Claidheamh Mor video (he didn't respond) and I'll tell it to you: It'll be more obvious if you adjust your charges so that the bottle charge stops at one of the striped markers on the floor (and the claidheamh charge overshoots it), this way the added charge distance will be equal to the distance to the marker on the floor and thus easier to visually judge. Just an offer. :3 - Zhnigo 18:55, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
After watching my video again, I think the pillars serve as a good marker. Just my opinion KingofKoopas 19:15, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Mad Milk: Chat text visible when backpack closes; it should also show that allies can heal themselves using it. As for the Mor, it's good, but the portion of the screen shown doesn't seem to be the same: the charge meter is visible on the right, which is a nice thing to have. Is it possible to have it on the left too? — Wind 19:24, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

P.S., how do I convert with x264? All I can do with it is configure. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lancer anti-tank Rocket (talk) • (contribs)
- Sadly, the Boston Basher was done a few hours ago D: (see two section before this) As for x264, it should appear in your codec list. Where the codecs list is depends on the software you are using — Wind 19:15, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well, if that one gets a problem and can't be used, you'd hafta wait another 2 Hours before my 2.5 Megabyte Vid can be uploaded to view. 2 Hours for 2.5 Megabyte is a bit over the top to me. But then again, it doesn't beat waiting 7 Hours to upload a 3 GB Vid. And then being told that uploading a 2.x GB Vid will take 20 Hours to do when it's clearly smaller. What the hell is wrong with Youtube's Uploader? Lancer anti-tank Rocket 19:27, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Edit: Make that 2.5 Hours. This is getting stupid. It started off with Half Hour and now it's slapped on 2 more Hours. Make up your damn mind! Lancer anti-tank Rocket 19:28, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Edit: I thought Youtube was meant to be fast. Now it says it'll take 7 Hours! FOR 2 MEG! Lancer anti-tank Rocket 19:37, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Considering a Boston Basher Vid still ain't been chosen I may as well leave this here for you to look at if ya want. Lancer anti-tank Rocket 10:30, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- Garticuno's video has already been chosen for the Boston Basher. This being said, I should still point out that this video has quite a lot of technical problems: Cropped edges (especially in backpack view), very low framerate (not smooth), not HD, and not antialiased. You should try fixing all of those for any weapon demo — Wind 19:25, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Scottish Resistance
I wanted to try my hand at weapon demonstration, so I reserved a gun. Only afterwards did I realize that the Resistance requires a ton of stuff to be shown:
- Faster firing speed
- Maximum placed stickies
- Slower arm time
- Selective detonation
- Sticky jumping still possible
- Breaking stickies
These are what I'm going to try to demonstrate later. If anyone thinks of stuff to add beforehand, go ahead - I'll check the page before I start recording. — nVis (talk) 00:32, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
Be sure to show that stickies det if they're near you, whether you're looking at them or not. Armisael 01:06, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
- I had some trouble with codecs and syncing the audio, but eventually managed to get it working after several attempts: Scottish Resistance v1. It demonstrates most of what I wanted it to, but it doesn't exactly follow the proposed format. I'm pretty happy with the timing, though. — nVis (talk) 23:31, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
- Not bad for a first attempt~ But some things should be improved.
- Always reload at the end of a clip (before taunting, and after jumping on 2fort)
- The main purpose of the scottish resistance is the ability to detonate stickies in an arbitrary manner, and I think this video fails to demonstrate this properly. For instance, show how the outlines become blue depending on cursor position, make a sticky carpet and explode it progressively, etc; this would show it better than by making clusters.
- Faster firing speed should be demonstrated by split-screen: have two demoman firing 8 stickybombs as fast as possible (don't forget to reload)
- You should also show arming time with a split-screen, by having them fire a sticky and exploding as soon as possible
- This clip shows what happens when you drop more than 14 stickybombs at 0:51. This is a good thing to show, keep it in (just saying this in case it was unintended)
— Wind 02:47, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback.
Here'sa version with a different bombing approach and split screen views to illustrate the differences (download). — nVis (talk) 10:42, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- I noticed that my last video had a slight problem with one of the fadeouts, and was missing ammo counts during the firing speed comparison (a pretty significant flaw). I ended up using a panning motion to reveal the ammo counts in a hopefully non-distracting way. The arm time comparison doesn't display them, but only two bombs are fired, so it shouldn't be necessary. Uploaded on YouTube and MediaFire. — nVis (talk) 14:32, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Good job with the Stickybomb-Scottish Resistance comparison, but...
- Premature loading at 0:50 before Taunt. Let your Clip empty before reloading.
- Considering you fully loaded before taunting, it may have been recommended to use editing Software to plant that part at the end.
- Bots not killed in order. Not a big problem that needs a re-take though.
- Might be a good idea to put a SR Bomb behind an obstacle on purpose to show you can still see its Aura. Lancer anti-tank Rocket 16:24, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- 0:50 is not a premature reload; always reload before taunting/when clip is over. Bot order is a worthy sacrifice to make because that way it makes it easier to show how stickies can be exploded selectively. Agree about the aura thing though. On to my analysis~
- Reshoot the clip at 0:41: We should be able to see the Demoman firing his stickies, otherwise they're not obviously visible. Since the stickies shouldn't be all clustered in one single place, you should have a friend drop them, or using bot_mimic with some clever bot_mimic_yaw_offset value.
- The planning to show the ammo count isn't necessary. It looks kind of disturbing (non-natural camera movement) and doesn't bring much value (they know that both weapons have 8 stickies already)

Any thoughts about showing the crit-negating effects of the battalion's backup? The current video doesn't show it, but it ought to be shown. Having a friend kritz a bot could certainly work, but if anyone can think of a simply solution that would be nice. Armisael 01:16, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

That has been fixed. Armisael 13:30, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
- You are quite right about the battalion's backup. Kritz medic seems to be the best solution, and the most obvious one when demonstrating things with critical hits involved (like the heavy set bonus effect).
- As for the videos, I only got a problem with the Backburner one, when demonstrating damage on the Soldier: Are you sure the minimum amount of damage possible when puffing is 5? Try going backward just a little bit and see. Also, when demonstrating the closest-possible damage, we can't see the damage number. All other videos are good, thanks a lot :3 — Wind 02:47, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- Backburner redone. I'm at the maximum range, as demonstrated in the video. I suspect that 4s are possible, becuase I think I saw some, but I couldn't reliable produce them. Armisael 03:24, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Two videos were made for the Claidheam Mòr. Vote for which one looks the best~
- Entry 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mpgiuRLcKY by Garticuno (Advantages: Smoother, has the interesting twist of killing the Pyro at the end of the charge)
- Entry 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UXt8s_Oe1c by KingofKoopas (Advantages: Shows charge meter, shows that you don't have to hold the weapon to get the increased charge time)

- I prefer Garticuno's. Smoother, and the split screen on the charge comparison looks much better, IMHO. Armisael 02:33, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

- Anti-aliasing and ratio are settings in options->video. Make sure that your ratio is at least 1280x720. The frame rate? Well...that's a matter of squeezing more power out of your computer. If push comes to shove, you can take a demo at really low settings, then use fraps on a playback of that (at high settings). Armisael 20:46, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well I never knew what anti-aliasing did and I didn't spot Aspect Ratio. My Monitor Supports 1280X1024 (Native Resolution) so it should have no problem with that. Framerate I can't seem to boost, don't know about getting HD, but thanks for the Info. I'll see what I can do... Lancer anti-tank Rocket 20:52, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- Videos must be 16:9, so pick "16:9" under the "Aspect ratio" menu (in TF2's video options) and pick any resolution that is equal or larger than 1280x720. As for the framerate, type
cl_showfps 1
in console to have an idea of what framerate you're getting, then start the recording. Fraps will "take away" frames from you (so if your card gets 45 fps, and you set Fraps to record at 30 fps, you will only see 15 fps, and Fraps will record the 30 other ones). The objective is to have 30 frames recorded or more every second. If you can't seem to reach that, then you probably have to use the source recorder and merge videos to include the backpack view... Which is quite a bit harder. — Wind 00:16, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Backburner
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCfD-MVMz-k - look at this! Gringo perm 10:56, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- Very nice! Nice work showing the Backburner critting from behind. Just a couple petty things I would've added: The Backburner having no Compression Blast (Soldier's Rockets will work) and said Backburner shown doing slightly more damage than the Flamethrower. - For this purpose there is a Flamethrower Demonstration. Gringo perm 14:01, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- It is a good weapon demonstration but has the wrong aspect ratio :( In the meantime, Armisael has done his own Backburner video, so I think it'll be used. — Wind 19:25, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- *WALL*. I think, when I'll buy new monitor, all demonstration videos will be allready created =((( Hmm... Wait a sec, I have an old 32' TV with DVI cable jack. It have a resolution 1280*720... I'll try to switch on and connect it to my computer, when I'll have free time. Gringo perm 19:40, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Battalion's Backup
Well. That was fun. Two puppet bots to control and two accounts to control. Anyways, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSfG0DxRONw --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Armisael (talk) • (contribs)
Very Nice. Well planned out and clearly showed comparison between deployed and undeployed Flags. Struggling to find faults to point out. I'm no caller of shots here, but I think this could be a liable candidate for the actual Article. Lancer anti-tank Rocket 16:29, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- That's very good indeed. Please upload~ — Wind 19:25, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Not so smart with your Brains OUTSIDE your head are ya?
I just came up with a suggestion for the Razorback Video. What you could do is hide RED Spy behind the Player and empty his Revolver Ammo so he's using his Knife. Then have BLU Sniper pick off RED Pyro and RED Soldier, then RED Spy breaks his Razorback (via Bot Commands). BLU Sniper spins round and dispatches RED Spy before finishing with RED Medic. It might also be a good idea to have a shot from RED Spy's Point of View as to show the Knife being disabled and RED Spy being unable to do anything until his Knife cools down. It's a random plan I just thought of for the Vid. Whaddya say? Lancer anti-tank Rocket 16:45, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well, there already is a Razorback demonstration (the only problem with it is the aspect ratio). It uses a third-person view to show the sniper, and a picture-in-picture thing to show the spy's first-person perspective. I don't think the Sniper should be "busy" with other targets, as it distracts attention from the main purpose of the demonstration: the Razorback. However, I agree that it should contain the sniper's first-person perspective while scoped in, to show that it makes the Sniper unscope. — Wind 19:25, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
