Criticisms? Things I've missed? I had the Soldier shoot the Pyro just to demonstrate the +75 hp on kill more effectively. - Mr. Magoolachub 14:40, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Video editing tool?
Yeah... I'm trying to do a video for the Bushwhacka, and the way I'm planning to do requires a couple of fade in/out, etc. Any help? --Jetamo 10:59, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- Use Sony Vegas if you have it. You can fade things by just throwing a video inside the other (on the last seconds), i think movie maker can fades too Swordz 16:08, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Sniper Rifle Demonstration
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slWWlxKCYng
Can someone please let me know if this is the right idea? SMG on the way as well. Feneer 18:27, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
This is just me, but I woulda shown noscopes on the Pyro, shortscopes on the Soldier, and a fully charged bodyshot on the Medic, then a fully charged headshot onto the Spy. JackIsASpy 18:31, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, one thing i noticed, you're using a 16:10 ratio, hence the black bars on the sides. please use 16:9 (example 1280x720). Besides that, I like it Natemckn 18:46, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Taken both your comments on board, here's the new version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2Esek8ItIE Feneer 19:18, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- I feel that your first video demonstrated it better, it effectively showed all 5 possible shots (noscope, uncharged bodyshot, uncharged headshot, charged bodyshot and charged headshot). The spy is to only be used to taunt kills. Sorry for the confusion.Natemckn 19:24, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- Some other things...
- Didn't shoot the target at the back
- Start the recording with your mouse on the weapon, with the tooltip displayed

Shortstop
So, i tried to do it like the natascha video, but this weapon doesn't slowdown anything after all. What should i do? Swordz 19:53, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- The shortstop has no slowdown. If it did, it would be even more overpowered compared to what it is now. Don't demonstrate it, that's all — Wind 20:37, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgZ4zZP92yA That's what i got. PS: I have uploaded directly to the channel (unlisted of course) so i don't need to upload it again if it's right (slow internet + i can't use it when it's uploading because everything becomes soo slow :P) Swordz 21:08, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- "The shortstop has no slowdown" Um, lol? It does have slowdown, it's just weak compared to what Natascha does. Toomai Glittershine 23:03, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- Nope, it has no slowdown at all. Try it out for yourself — Wind 23:19, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Frying pan
Yay! I contributed too, I am still new to this tough. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t9xjowj5Ps Lurkys302 00:40, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
- Looks pretty good for a first try. One thing I noticed, at the very beginning, when you are mouseovering the frying pan, the demo is holding the sticky launcher. To make him hold the frying pan, (before you record) edit the melee slot and click "keep" next to the frying pan. Voila, he is holding the frying pan, then you can start recording. Since the frying is equippable by both the soldier and demo, you need to record the exact same thing for the soldier and add it to the end. See the Lugermorph video for a good example. Thanks for contributing Natemckn 22:57, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- What Natemckn said. Also, please put a download link to the original file~ — Wind 23:01, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

The original file is bigger tough, I think it would take more time to upload. --Lurkys302 01:25, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Lurkys302
- As Natemckn said, since this weapon can be used by both the Demoman and the Soldier, you need to record both videos and put them into one, then add the music on top of that; see Lugermorph's demonstration. Why would the "original file" be bigger? By original file, I mean the file that you uploaded to YouTube. It takes the same time as the time it takes to upload it to YouTube. — Wind 23:28, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

- Aaaalmost there. First, put the song over the final thing, not over each video; second, the Spy is visible during the Soldier taunt; and third, there is a delay at the end of the Soldier one (5 seconds of staring forward, lol) — Wind 00:16, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I still have not added the loadout part of the video and I think I did something wrong on the taunt thing. Freaking VirtualDub :(

Weird, using four tilde's don't show my name
Denmax 04:36, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
- A few things I noticed
- You need to show that shooting too fast you cant get headshots
- You need to shoot the target in the back at the end
- After shooting the target, but before taunting, you need to manually reload
- I'm sure Wind will point out a few more things, but its a good start. You can see the ambassador video I made with the old config. Its embedded on the ambassador pageNatemckn 04:39, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
- Already did the first point; but maybe it would have been best if I did it on the Pyro perhaps, since it was barely noticeable the Medic being too far.
- I noticed two targets, the one standing on top of the crates and the barely noticeable "behind the cart".
- I see; should I avoid moving the direction whilst taunting?
- Denmax 08:37, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
- I'd suggest demonstrating that fast headshots dont work on the soldier. (Two slow headshots on the pyro, then click and hold on the soldiers head to show that fast headshots dont work, then bodyshots on the medic). The target on top of the crates is the one you want (See any other video including the old Ambassador one for an example Natemckn 16:23, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Bushwacka Help - Video Editing Exp. Needed
So I've been working on the Bushwacka on and off because I've been busy. The problem I've run into is the video editing part of it. Specifically the exporting of the video file. I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and I've filmed all my footage at 1900 X 1000, give or take. (I have a weird dimension because I use my TV as a monitor.) Because of this, all the footage takes forever to export and encode. I know a quick and easy way to solve this would be recording at a lower resolution. However, that's not all. The TF2 files are at 60fps where the project file that I use for Premiere is 29.97 fps. I think it's because of this that when I export the file (after it takes like, 2 hours :V) that the footage is all blurry. It's good quality and all, but when I move the screen, the closest thing I could compare it to would be a major overkill on motion blur. Are there any video editing gurus that can help me out? Perhaps recommend another program they use or essentially hold my hand through this process? Fendermcbender 05:00, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Use Sony Vegas. It's much easier, bro. JackIsASpy 10:38, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
I have to agree with Jack, Vegas is the way to go, and surprisingly cheap if you drop by a certain Swedish website Feneer 13:56, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
- Crop to 16:9 if needed. 1920x1080 is good and is not a "weird" resolution (it's the 1080p option in youtube) — Wind 16:51, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

PS: Already on the channel Swordz 13:22, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
- The only problem I see with the three is the weird flamethrower visual bug thingy where you light the soldier yet the flames dont go near him. The same thing happened in the degreaser video and Wind said to redo it so I'm sure the same applies here. Just jump on or out of the box to light the soldier. Besides that, I see no problem with the other two. Natemckn 16:31, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
- What Nate said — Wind 16:51, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

- I'm sorry about the problems on others videos. It's very easy to screw something when you do it 20+ times. I usually start doing everything extremelly fast when it goes wrong a bunch of times. Swordz 13:37, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- Sandman video should probably show a moon shot as well as a regular hit (and maybe even one that's too close-range to work), if the map is big enough for it to be possible. Toomai Glittershine 14:48, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- I think there's enough space. Swordz 15:39, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- Sandman: Yes, show a moon shot, put a bot somewhere or something.
- Pain train: Do all of the Soldier stuff before the Demoman stuff, don't mix things up. This will also allow you to show bullet vulnerability in one take (less takes is always better)
- Dalokohs bar: Doesn't really demonstrate all of it. Has to show that it goes back to normal after 30 seconds, has to show that eating again won't get you 400 health, and has to show that the overheal limit is still 450; see the other video about it on this page
All the others are good, please publish~ — Wind 22:08, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- Huntsman/Revolver published. Going to do pain train/dalocks/sandman/flamethrower remake tomorrow. Swordz 22:42, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

- The flamethrower one still goes way too fast (do nothing for like 3 seconds before having the Soldier fire), and you should take some steps back when reflecting the rocket back at the Soldier, otherwise it looks like the rocket doesn't appear on screen at all. Also, both videos have a very long period of black screen (Especially the Flamethrower video, all of the second half is a black screen) — Wind 04:08, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
- I have no idea how this black screen thing happened. I think i forgot to cut the music, but it was ok when i rendered :O You didn't said anything about pain train, so i guess it's ok? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pP2BWIoxVE -- Swordz (talk | contribs) 09:31, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Armisael 21:26, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- I recommend to leave the videos that need to be redone to the people that did them. My jarate video was alright, it just needed a spy cloak thing in the end. (Please not that i'm not impeding you from doing it :P)
- Fair enough. I did it because I was bored and knew how to do that video. Armisael 21:37, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- The framerate is very low. If you set Fraps to 30 frames per second but only get this output, then Fraps is trying to get 30 frames per second but can't because there simply isn't that many frames to grab. I suggest lowering your resolution to 1280x720 to see it that helps (less strain on your graphics card and less strain on your hard drive). Make sure the weapon you want to demonstrate is selected in backpack view. Take your time between transitions (especially the jarate/mad milk ones), and only do them if necessary (try your best to make it fit in one take). Don't forget to shoot the target at the back (only once, it's enough). The above applies to your previous videos as well, so yes, I'm afraid all of them will have to be redone :(
- Fair enough. I did it because I was bored and knew how to do that video. Armisael 21:37, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
Now for weapon-specific things:
- Jarate: Why headshot the medic and soldier?)
- To show the non-stacking nature of crits and minicrits.
- Gunboats: Rocket jump multiple times, from the same position to the same position
- Fair enough.
- Dalokohs: I suggest speeding up the 30 seconds instead of transitioning out
- I was trying to indicate how long the buff lasts, and if there's no game clock we'll need an overlay to indicate the time. Is the speed up preferred just for matters of style? Neither conveys the passage of time accurately. Also, in the post-processing step of the main page it says not to mess with the speed of the videos.
- Crit-A-Cola: Show the things using the Scattergun and against the Soldier. This way, there is more distance (and time, since rockets have travel time) for the viewer to realize what is going on.
- The melée weapons have more reliable damage. I can run the attacks slower if you think that'd be better, but I really don't see the need for the scattergun and the RL.
- Powerjack: Spy is visible
- My bad
- Shotgun videos: Good; they'll be concatenated without cutting any part of it (so yes, it will be a very long video). Add the audio track after concatenation, not before
- Alright. There actually isn't an audio track that runs long enough for that unless each shotgun run can be done in 16 seconds (ha, I wish); cp_steel only runs 1:06. Ideas?
- Frontier Justice should be done in one take; there's the plan of the video somewhere on that page~
- Fair enough
I strongly suggest doing only one at a time until one of them is perfect; then it's okay to do them in bulk. Otherwise, lots of footage might go to waste :( Another thing: You have set your name to "Official Team Fortress Wiki". While this is not a requirement, feel free to use your own name, as it is a way to give you credit for making the video. This being said, you're also free to leave it as "Official Team Fortress Wiki" if you prefer~ — Wind 04:41, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Joke on Project's Wiki Page
On the page about the Weapon Demonstration Project, someone has inserted a small inside joke into the page for careful readers (referencing an internet video about Super Smash Bros. -- cannot find link right now).
In the Requirements section, someone has written
- "Having the item you want to demonstrate in either normal or vintage quality (no nametag, no description tag, no gifted weapons, no community weapon, final destination); you can edit your game files to give yourself the item (Golden Wrench for example)"
Even though (IMHO) the joke is funny and well-used, it probably violates the TF2 Wiki style guidelines and should be removed. However, I was wondering if the TF2 Wiki has a "Bad Jokes And Other Deleted Nonsense" (often shortened to "BJAODN") page or something similar (see Wikipedia's BJAODN pages for examples) where humorous content is preserved. Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion in BJAODN is "at least one Wikipedian found it funny." If the TF2 Wiki does not yet have some form of BJAODN page, I think that creating one would be a good idea: the TF2 community tends to have an excellent sense of humor, and I doubt this is an isolated instance. Having a place to preserve jokes like this would help maintain the style guidelines while still allowing the Wiki to have a sense of humor.
VNilla 21:43, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
- This is a project page not a real article, and ifaik, the style guide doesn't really apply here. As for the BJAODN, here we have the Team Fortress Wiki:Trivia Wall of Shame, which showcases the strange, odd, and absurd trivia additions that people have added. Natemckn 21:50, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
- I'm with Natemckn on this one. The page is meant as a means of organization and a way to simplify the division of labour. It is not the face of the Wiki and doesn't really need to be held to quite the same standard as article. It shouldn't look like total crap, but a small joke isn't exactly out of line. -- - (talk | contribs) -- 22:11, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

- This looks good, but it has no sound from the actual game, only music. It'd also be nice to show that teammates also get health somehow, for example by getting a friendly bot to be damaged and shoot a coated player. — Wind 23:06, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
A Couple of Videos I Made
Hey, I've done some videos some time ago, and I had them lying around until I uploaded them to YouTube today.
I know some were already made above or reserved, but at the time they were made, they weren't.
- Mad Milk
- Grenade Launcher
- Eyelander
- Ambassador
- Invisibility Watch
- Enthusiast's Timepiece
- Dead Ringer
- Cloak and Dagger
I had some doubts on how to proceed with the Mad Milk and the Cloak and Dagger, but I think they are fine. --EpicEric 16:02, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but while the idea is nailed down perfectly, the visual quality of the video is poor. It looks like you are running in DirectX 8 mode, too. The minimum requirements for graphics is 1280x720 resolution with DirectX 9 and at least 2X antialiasing. D: — Wind 19:32, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, I forgot about that. Well, I'm going to remake them. Regardless of graphical issues, do you think they are OK? --EpicEric 20:11, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Alright~
- Mad Milk: Good~
- Grenade Launcher: Needs to show that grenades can roll and detonate, so don't do only direct hits. Also, the Demoman is holding the wrong weapon in backpack
- Eyelander: Also holding wrong weapon. Don't wait 15 seconds in backpack view, 3~5 seconds is enough~ Sticky counter is displaying "%A" for some reason... I think you might also want to add one bot or two to show that there is a cap on max health after 4 heads.
- Ambassador: Distinguish headshots/bodyshots more: instead of shooting at head and neck, shoot at head and balls or something. Also show that you can't get headshots if you fire too fast
- Watches: All watches should also show cloak regeneration: by ammo, by standing still, etc. It'd also need to have a third-person perspective, and a perspective from the other team, kind of like the Razorback video... It's a lot of work, and probably can't be done alone with bots, so I suggest you ask a friend or something (or don't do them, lol)
The best piece of advice that I can give you, though, is to not do them in bulk. Do them one at a time and wait for the OK before moving on, otherwise a lot of footage goes to the void D: — Wind 20:33, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Also, the milk video should show spy cloak and fire extinguishing effects. Armisael 00:00, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Gunboats, Axtinguisher, Dalokohs Bar and Shotgun
I made two shotgun videos to be chosen from. The first runs each audio track until it ends, and then starts the next one. The second associates each audio track with one of the classes and fades with that class's video.

- Axtinguisher is perfect, please upload the original. Dalokohs Bar needs to demonstrate that it also heals, too, when you are damaged. Also, wait a moment before having the Medic heal you so that viewers realize the health change, and preferably, drop takes where the Heavy says "Sandvich" while eating a chocolate bar... A small detail, but it just sounds wrong, lol. Gunboats: It's cool, but for a player who doesn't know what the map looks like, he woudl get confused, as the video starts with the cursor pointing all the way down; it's a bit disorienting. I suggest doing the same, but starting from the regular starting position, get in place near that fence, and rocket jump. Also, you should use a script for rocket jumps so that the delay between the jump+crouch and the firing is consistent between jumps (otherwise, damage differences could be attributed to that difference in timing). I might do a shameless plug for this one... As for the Shotgun, I originally suggested to put the audio tracks aftert everything had been concatenated (which would correspond to the first version). After having watched both versions, however, I'd say I prefer the second one. So I guess the choice is yours: please upload the original for whichever version you prefer. Thanks for all of these~ — Wind 19:32, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- I completely understand your comment about the chocolate and the boats, with one exception. I did use a script for the rocket jumps, and the damage on those is identical for each jump.
Armisael 19:59, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Here are updated version of the boats and the chocolate. They run longer, and I don't feel that the Dalokohs Bar one is very clear, but I couldn't think of a better order of actions to show the length of the timers while avoiding taking up an unreasonable length of time.
- Gunboats
- Dalokohs Bar Armisael 20:49, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Gunboats is good, please upload the original. Dalokohs is also good, but he said Sandvich D: Also, the "Shotgun (classy)" link goes to the Axtinguisher demo — Wind 20:54, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Shotgun is now fixed. The reason I didn't get non-sandvich lines is that 13 of the possible 17 responses to eating the Dalokohs Bar reference sandvich, which means that the odds of not getting one both of the times I ate it are about 5.5%. I didn't really feel like doing it the 13 or 14 times it would take.
- Shotgun and Gunboars (and Axtinguisher) all done. Can you redo the Choco bar one though, please? >: — Wind 00:02, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- A little poking around in the responses section has revealed to me how to disable the sandvich specific responses. I'll have a sandvich-less version up by tomorrow. Armisael 01:06, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Here is the promised video. I think it'll be up to par, so I threw the dl link in the description, but if you see something please say so.
- Looks good to me. Nate, can you please upload~? — Wind 22:51, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

HHHH, Pistol & Frontier Justice
- Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker
- Pistol (for both the Scout and Engineer)
- Frontier Justice
The videos might still be processing, but at least they have a better graphical quality than my previous ones. --EpicEric 20:24, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- That's a bit better, but it's still not 1280x720 and there is not antialiasing. The framerate is very low, too... I'm afraid your computer can't do it :( — Wind 22:13, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, that's too bad... --EpicEric 22:23, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Degreaser and Pistol
I imagine these will need some touchups first:
Also, a question about the CaC: the soldier's rocket at that range is a guaranteed OHKO on a CaC scout. Would it be better to take a shotgun from the soldier, needles from the medic, or something else entirely? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Armisael (talk) • (contribs)
- The criticism I have for the Degreaser one is exactly the opposite as the criticism I have for the Pistol one:
- Degreaser: Like the Flamethrower video, this goes too quickly. Wait a few seconds before reflecting rockets, take your time; also, don't scroll madly through the weapon selection, do it one at a time, slowly. Also, the map causes this weird flame bug that makes it look like the flame doesn't reach the Soldier; that's why the previous Degreaser video was rejected... So you should jump on the wooden thing or get closer to the Soldier somehow so that it doesn't happen, otherwise people get confused. Also don't kill the Medic with the Fire Axe o.o
- Pistol: Too slow. You can wait between shots during the first few shots but after that you can go at full speed. If you're out of ammo, you can press B to give yourself full ammo again~
- Crit-a-Cola: The one-hit-kill is a way to demonstrate the difference it has: show a non-crit-a-cola scout not getting one-shot'd, against a crit-a-cola scout getting one-shot'd by the soldier. Might want to do that by splitting the screen top/bottom or left/right (whichever looks best) and syncing the moment the rocket comes out of the soldier's rocket launcher~ I think that'd look nice.

Take 2:
Armisael 03:18, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Degreaser looks alright, can you upload the original? Pistol: Pistol not being held in backpack view (both classes), and forgot to reload at the end of the Engineer one; timing is good in both videos now though. — Wind 03:31, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
Pistol should be up by the end of the day.
