- The weapon minicrits on it's own. The soda popper isn't being demonstrated.
- Check the most recent version. He demonstrates that it mini-crits in close distance with the Soda Popper. Combatjellyfish 15:55, 7 August 2012 (PDT)
- Hmm. So you're right, I must;ve missed that. Yeah, there's no reason to show the soda popper in this demo. — Armisael (T | C) 15:33, 7 August 2012 (PDT)
- The main reason I included that was because I didn't think that actually applied to bleed out so I felt it was noteworthy enough to be in the demonstration. OrangeJuicePanda 20:40, 7 August 2012 (PDT)

- Here goes~
- Since you have the non-stock Sandman equipped in the first clip, you should show it. It's invisible right now because it is covered up by the Flying Guillotine tooltip
- Wait just a little more after stunning the soldier, to give players more time to realize that he is stunned
- Very confusing animations when killing the medic. It doesn't look like you throw the knife, and then it looks like you swing the bat for no apparent reason
- Don't crouch at 0:58 (??)
- Fades are too long; half a second of fading is usually enough
- Wait a little more before throwing the weapon at the medic at 1:15 (the fade is not even done at that point)
- Make sure to always run wepaonref.cfg. It appears that you didn't do it in the clip at 1:35; you can tell by looking at Medic's coat, with the LOD changing as you get closer
- Weapon thrown way too soon at 1:51 (give it some time)
- Wait a little more before getting minicrits in that clip (try so that about 60% of the hits are non-mini-crits)
- No need to kill the Medic in that clip, it can be ended after the minicrit-bleeding is done
- YouTube cut out the ending clip (end the sound a little before the video does to prevent this)
— Wind 17:00, 8 August 2012 (PDT)
- Thank you for the response I will get to work on that I just got back on from a mini vacation so I will get right to work on this weapon demonstration. Also I can't wait a little when stunning the soldier otherwise I can't get the critical due to the stun not lasting long enough. OrangeJuicePanda 19:46, 11 August 2012 (PDT)

- Could you do that one again, but before throwing it at the sniper, run to see the Sniper from up close , and then go back? As it stands, the Sniper is not really visible at the default youtube player size. It's clearer in the version with a dedicated clip because camera placement and the fact that it's a clip at all means that there must be something at the other end of the throw. Here, it's not as clear, so make it explicitly clear by close to the sniper before throwing it — Wind 11:26, 19 August 2012 (PDT)
- I'm going to drop the project and hand it to Armisael. I have been having way to many problems rendering. That is why I haven't been doing much on it because whenever I finally have a good render that has the sound synced with the video I realize another way I could improve then I would have to redo it. Anyways, Armisael feel free to take it at this point and I will change the reservation to you. OrangeJuicePanda 14:58, 19 August 2012 (PDT)

- A few problems to my eye (since wind is largely not present):
- Engineer is visible for a few seconds in the sentry comparison clip.
- Always have the stock sapper on the left for comparison clips
- When you're sapping a building, the building's targetid is covering parts of the building, so it's hard to get a good look at them.
- You don't show the 'placing a sapper' animations for disguises.
- Anyways, just my two cents. Feel free to ignore. — Armisael (T | C) 09:56, 6 August 2012 (PDT)
- A few problems to my eye (since wind is largely not present):
- That's all i know it need to demonstration Karmacharger 12:03 , 8/7/2012 (PDT)
- Here goes~
- What Armisael said, especially the HUD box hiding the building. Try to position the mouse so that the building is clearly visible and not covered by the HUD. If you can do that and show the HUD box at the same time, then that's great; otherwise, then look slightly away so that the box doesn't show, since the health is still shown in the corner of the screen anyway.
- In the first clip, hide the Engineer, then sap sentry (like you did), then sap Dispenser (without the engineering wrenching it), then sap the teleporters (like you did, with the revolver shots as well). Don't show the spam-sappers-on-dispenser in that clip.
- Show a split-screen speed comparison of sapping a level 1 sentry and a level 2 sentry (insert them before the level 3 sentry split-screen clip)
- Be consistent in left/right split-screens; always put the red tape on the right (you did that for the level 3 sentry but not for the dispenser and teleporter)
- Add a clip at the end of the demonstrations, with a dispenser and an engineer that shows how long it takes to destroy a dispenser by spamming sappers
— Wind 17:00, 8 August 2012 (PDT)
- I also forgot: Show what the toolbox does. Pick it up as both a spy and an engineer to show ammo refill, metal refill, cloak gain, etc. — Wind 00:49, 9 August 2012 (PDT)
- Would it be possible to show a Mini-Sentry being sapped? As I recall, the sapped animation is much slower than the normal (re)building animation, and the Mini-Sentry regains health despite the fact it cannot be repaired.
- Also, I was wondering as to the general consensus about this versus the normal Sapper demonstration. Since these demonstrations were made with the intention that there was no other Sapper, a lot of things have been added, such as: the disguised sapper placement animations, Sapper placement during numerous building demonstrations etc. What should be done about those things?
- 13:15, 9 August 2012 (PDT)
- These things don't really affect gameplay. so no need to demonstrate them much — Wind 05:14, 13 August 2012 (PDT)

http://youtu.be/ZiVQqVKC9mw Karmacharger 11:31 , 8/13/2012 (PDT)
- Missing destruction sound when the teleporter entrance is destroyed in the first clip (?)
- Progressively-increasing audio/video desynchronization in first clip. Look at 1:00, the time between the moment the spy takes the toolbox and the moment the "ammo pickup" sound is played. This is a longstanding source recorder bug when rendering demos with large framerate. You need to do a second render with a low framerate, and use the audio from that render with the video from the first render with the high framerate.
- No sapping sound from either sapper during the teleporter split-screen clip
- I just realized that the video doesn't currently show the advantage of using this sapper: that the building's level decrease stays after the sapper is gone. This is kind of shown during the sapper-spamming in the last clip but it's not very clear because there's a lot going on in the clip and the dispenser's levels are not very easy to distinguish. I think it may be worth adding a new clip (that goes before the sapper-spamming clip) with a RED engineer bot with a level 3 sentry in front of him and a level 3 dispenser full of metal behind him. As a spy, sap the building a little and have the engineer destroy the sapper very quickly. Wait for 2 or 3 seconds, then have him repair it back to full health and fully upgraded. Then sap a little longer but not enough to make it go back to level 1 (to show the extent of time that the engineer has to remove the sapper before the sentry goes to level 1), wait a few seconds, and have the engineer upgrade+repair the sentry. Then sap longer so that the sentry goes back to level 1, have him destroy the sapper, wait a few seconds, and then repair+upgrade it again. During all of the clip, stare at the sentry like you do in the dispenser sapper-spamming clip so that the current health, level, and upgrade progress are always visible

It needs to show that you can sap robots on MvM. Xeoxer 10:33, 19 August 2012 (PDT)
- Are we demonstrating MvM abilities in this project? That's a lot of redoes. — Armisael (T | C) 10:36, 19 August 2012 (PDT)
- Definitely not upgrades, but capabilities such as the Sapper being usable on robots is something that may be worth demonstrating. The problem is that it's not very easy to demonstrate without making a full MvM game, but then with all the robots moving around and shooting it won't be clear what's happening. Thus it should be demonstrated only if there's a way to demonstrate it clearly, with an isolated, non-aggressive, preferably immobile robot, as done in current weapon demonstrations — Wind 11:26, 19 August 2012 (PDT)

Unarmed Combat
Fraps still won't allow the jigglebone prefect :( , is there any other recorder with "No Lags?" Karmacharger 8:50 , 4 July 2012 (PDT)
- There's the Source Recorder (records .TGAs that later have to be put togheter transformed into an .AVI file). You can check this post from '09 on SPUF. — kill — 20:32, 4 July 2012 (PDT)
- That's what SrcDemo2 requires, so if he tried SrcDemo2 then he tried that too, by proxy. Also we have help pages on the wiki itself about that — Wind 20:41, 4 July 2012 (PDT)
- It's not fraps doing that, fraps doesn't communicate with the game in any way. The fact that jigglebones don't work is because at some point in the game, the frame rate dropped under a threshold that the source engine considers "too low", at which point it disables jigglebones because it thinks that it will increase framerate. No, I don't know of any good recorder, but you did manage to get them working when you did the Holy Mackerel demo recently. - Few things:
- Quality seems a bit on the low side for high definition.
- Very fast-paced video. Slow it down a bit next time.
- During the Soldier segment, try to attack at a consistent rate. Waiting before the second hit is generally used for the Pyro segment.
- This might just be me, but if I am correct, as of the Pyromania Update, the Unarmed Combat should now have a taunt. If not, then disregard this.

- This looks like upscaled-to-720p video. Are you sure you recorded at the right resolution and didn't set Fraps to record at half-size? Sound also sounds distorted. Perhaps you have some sort of audio driver program that modifies your sound to increase the bass or the treble or something, but this certainly doesn't sound like most demonstrations do. Also, jigglebones are .required, and this definitely won't do :( It's very hard to get them to work, but it is possible, or at least has been despite being hit-and-miss. Framerate looks a little pokey too — Wind 22:24, 13 July 2012 (PDT)
- You watched the second version, right? The second version has jigglebones and (I think) fixed audio. Also, I have Fraps set to 60 FPS, full size, and loop uffer every 30 seconds. Anything I should change there? Spam90675 00:17, 14 July 2012 (PDT)
- Yes, the second version has jigglebones but they're clearly not behaving correctly. Fraps isn't at fault for low framerate, Fraps just takes what it can get, and if it can't get enough frames, then... it can't get enough frames. So the framerate won't be 60 even if it's set to 60. 60 is just the maximum number of frames that fraps tries to take every second. — Wind 11:52, 14 July 2012 (PDT)
- The bugs that are seen in the video are documented on the Wiki's page. Also, my laptop is top of the line, so if you're trying to imply that it'd my computer's fault, then you're wrong. Spam90675 05:32, 16 July 2012 (PDT)
- I am saying that this video has insufficient video quality, low framerate, and distorted audio. Whether that's because of bad hardware or bad drivers or faulty game engine or wrong recording settings or wrong encoding settings or a combination of these things doesn't matter; what matters is the result of that on the video. As for the jigglebones, whether it's a documented bug or not, it's a bug, and the behavior that they show on that second version makes the demonstration not very presentable, as you can see — Wind 00:46, 17 July 2012 (PDT)

Righteous Bison
I'm not so sure if this is true, but according to a Youtube comment it can actually go through buildings and hit players. Could we demonstrate that?--Uknownada 19:58, 23 August 2012 (PDT)
- If it does then it's probably a glitch (not intended behavior), so no I don't think so — Wind 17:02, 24 August 2012 (PDT)
Eyelander
You know that trick you can do with the Eyelander, where if a Demoman has a head count and you kill him you take his head count too? I found out this trick also applies with Snipers using the Bazaar Bargain. Their head count goes into your count as well. Is that worth redoing?--Uknownada 15:04, 26 August 2012 (PDT)
- That's a nonstandard weapon and probably unintended behavior (due to reusing the head counter system), so no, probably not worth redoing — Wind 15:15, 26 August 2012 (PDT)

I have this problem where I activate crits and some weird text shows up in the chat box. I need some help
Here's the video if you need to take a look Ben10508 08:12, 20 August 2012 (PDT)
- The text is entirely normal - that's the server notifying you that the tags have changed. Your issue is that your chat box is showing up at all. Start a server, exec weaponref, and then type
hud_saytext_time
in console. It should be 0. If not, set it to 0 (and then check your copy of the config to make sure that line's there). — Armisael (T | C) 08:22, 20 August 2012 (PDT)
Also, sometimes once I swing the bottle, it plays the Crit sound when it doesn't show the Crit animation Ben10508 09:24, 20 August 2012 (PDT)

Shouldn't the fact that the bottle does the same damage if broken or not broken be shown? I see that a lot in the "TF2 tips" in loading screens.--Uknownada 18:01, 20 August 2012 (PDT)
I don't think that's really necessary Ben10508 18:54, 20 August 2012 (PDT)
- Me neither, I'd put it under the same category as "cosmetic things that don't affect gameplay" like the Wrangler hand-shaking animation. The fact that the loading screen message explicitly dispells the possible confusion means it's even less important to show because players will see that message eventually — Wind 17:02, 24 August 2012 (PDT)

- This weapon isn't up for redo. It doesn't get random crits, and it was made on the hdr map. — Armisael (T | C) 02:53, 20 August 2012 (PDT)
- It should show the crits blast damage, I think. But I don't think it's enough to add in Melee Makeover. Hinaomi (talk) - (contributions) 08:39, 20 August 2012 (PDT)
Lets at least wait for what Wind would has to say Ben10508 09:55, 20 August 2012 (PDT)
- I think the page is pretty clear on this: no random crits + no special condition to trigger crits (without another weapon) = no redo. However, it is true that the Chargin' Targe is pretty much made to override this behavior and to give crits to melee weapons for the Demoman. The question is up for opinions then I guess. Poot votes here — Wind 17:02, 24 August 2012 (PDT)
- Neutral I have no idea. But I think it should do... Hinaomi (talk) - (contributions) 17:25, 24 August 2012 (PDT)
- No Crit-a-Cola and the Buff Banner both force minicrits (which largely behave like crits), and we didn't include them. Don't make an exception for the shields. If we want to show crits on nocrit weapons, then we should just do a second pass after we get through multiclass and do them consistently. — Armisael (T | C) 18:06, 24 August 2012 (PDT)
- No When a weapon is demonstrated, it is the *only* weapon being demonstrated. There are rare examples of this (such as the ali baba's wee booties, and the Flying Guillotine), but the number of possible interactions between weapons is too great to show them all, and the current logic for showing multiple weapons in one demo is if that weapon has a special effect (Axtinguisher crit on fire) that it is impossible to demonstrate with only that weapon. For non-crit-boostable weapons, there is no custom animation or glow (afaik), which were the two key goals for this makeover (aside from just general quality.) Darkid (|) 08:28, 25 August 2012 (PDT)
So I'm guessing no? Ben10508 10:13, 26 August 2012 (PDT)

Bird-Man of Aberdeen
Reserved by Akuago220
For demonstrations for the following items: Alien Swarm Parasite, Triboniophorus Tyrannus, Teddy Roosebelt, Pocket Medic, Cremator's Conscience, Bird-Man of Aberdeen, and Balloonicorn, I recommend this format (NOTE: Pyrovisions goggles are needed for the demonstration):
- Go into thirdperson, showing the item, then back to firstperson.
- Kill the Pyro with the Melee Weapon
- Kill the Soldier with the Secondary Weapon
- Kill the Medic with the Primary weapon
- (ENGINEER Only): Perhaps killing an enemy with sentries of all levels, including the mini-sentry.
- Next clip, go to thridperson, still have the item, but no Pyrovision goggles. Kill an enemy, showing that it only works in Pyrovision.
Hopefully this format will be helpful to all demonstrators. --Akuago220, The Jungle Expeditioner 21:39, 7 July 2012 (PDT)

Is it not true that items are supposed to not have "Crafted by" on them? Xyphink 11:58, 1 August 2012 (PDT)
- Indeed, it's preferable not to have craft marks on items. You may be able to erase it from the video using your video editor. But other than that, and more importantly:
- Video is not 720p
- Framerate is too low
- These sorts of demonstrations to show the kill feed are best done as split-screen. See the other sections about this — Wind 17:10, 1 August 2012 (PDT)

- It's not bad at all, but sadly we are discussing another format for these demonstrations in the "Pocket Medic" section of this page. You should probably wait until one such video is finished, and then use that as a template. Other than that the video is alright, except that the Spy is visible (he shouldn't unless it's tauntkill time), the volume is very very low (open this demonstration and an existing demonstration side by side with the same volume and compare), and the audio is low-fidelity (it sounds like a 64kbps MP3 or something. Use uncompressed PCM audio, it's not that large) — Wind 12:12, 19 July 2012 (PDT)
