Medi Gun

Looks pretty easy. Might need a first and third-person view. Glad to help! FireFox238 04:08, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Disguise Kit

This one seems rather involved. I'll reserve it, but could somebody please outline exactly what I need to record for it? There seems to be a lot. Bonzi77 23:21, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

There are a lot of ways this could be done, but here is what I'm thinking: Split screen, one side is the spy first person, the other is an enemy first person looking at him, quickly cycle through some disguises then attack to lose the disguise. Then maybe fade to black and come back with the one screen being and enemy engineer first person, demonstrate that you can take enemy teleporters and not being targeted by sentries. I think thats everything, but like I said there are a lot of ways to do this. Good luck Natemckn 23:40, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
Also need to demonstrate that you can disguise as a friendly (and that disguising as friendly spy = lose disguise), and the two Disguise Kit taunts. This can be done in one take with the sentry built on the other side of the fence or something~ — Wind 23:44, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
Anything else to note? I really don't want to miss anything.Bonzi77 21:22, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
I dunno, to be honest. Do that, and let's see how it goes; it likely won't be perfect on the first try for such a complex weapon — Wind 21:24, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Whew, okay. So, I tried to do this, but fraps totally slows up everything... and costs money... So I don't think this is going to happen. :( Bonzi77 19:04, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Just a suggestion: possibly also show the difference between disguising then cloaking and cloaking then disguising. I'd take a crack at this, but I don't have any editing software capable of splitscreening. — MafiaGuy7 1:54, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker

I noticed this weapon was one of the few easy melee weapons that hadn't been reserved, so i figured i would take a stab at it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PoVeGoCRgg (Sorry for the lag at the beginning, other than that i hope it's okay.) Kryzoid 21:51, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Yes, other than that it's all okay (perhaps cut the video a bit sooner, don't state into nothingness for 5 seconds). Everything's perfect save that lag (and audio lag at the same time too)~ If you get that fixed, please upload the video somewhere — Wind 22:29, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
Sorry for the late response, I've been busy all week. Anyways, I tried again - the lag problem is fixed, and in my opinion its much better in general. Here's the Youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_iQyHtXkvc and here's the Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?djynqfw8tzd8l4b Kryzoid 00:00, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, but someone ended up doing it before you D: (Just yesterday, actually...), it should be uploaded as soon as someone with non-capped bandwidth gets online. In your video, the Demoman is also holding the stickybomb launcher during the backpack view (just saying this in case you want to do other videos) — Wind 00:03, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

L'etranger Video

L'etranger video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTi49f6DmJU JackIsASpy 17:51, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

A few issues: 1) Your high viewmodel fov. Set it back to default please 2) Make sure to start with full ammo. Fix those two things and I think you're good. Natemckn 17:54, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Okay I'm on it JackIsASpy 18:27, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Ok I hope this works out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2-GySRP1Js JackIsASpy 19:32, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

One thing I didn't notice on your old vid. You are not using the custom damage numbers. They should be yellow. The project page details how to install the custom Huddamageaccount.res. Sorry I didn't point that out on the first one. Keep up the good work Natemckn 20:17, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Some other things...
  • In backpack view, the "head" slot looks like it's selected (bug?)
  • Has timer at the top
  • Audio: The steel training video is 1:02 in length, you should use that one instead, to avoid looping
  • Didn't shoot target at the back

Wind 20:40, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Another attempt - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C83DfB4O2o JackIsASpy 21:09, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Still didn't shoot the target at the back, and still has timer at the top (did you use the latest config, with mp_timelimit 0?); also, use the default crosshair (forgot to include that in the previous list) — Wind 21:13, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
It looks right to me, but i think it would be better if you killed those 3 normally, and then fade to another take where you do the cloak thing on the spy. It's what i would do. (I'm not a moderator) Swordz 21:13, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Make sure you have updated config file, it will remove the timer at the top. Only reload when you are out of ammo (with the exception of reloading before taunting at the end). Shoot the target then reload before you taunt. Keep trying, you're getting close, the first is always the hardest to get right. Natemckn 21:14, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Wow hard work. But i'll do it. JackIsASpy 21:18, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Here it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWHuuAjC56k JackIsASpy 10:13, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Sooo close! One thing: Only reload when you are out of ammo (except for at then end). Thats the only thing I noticed.Natemckn 16:20, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BuQlJZitzc JackIsASpy 18:37, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I cannot see anything more to fix (Wind might though). If you could upload that to dropbox or mediafire, I'll go ahead and upload it to the wiki youtube channel. I wont make it public or embed it until Wind takes a look at it first (he has a much sharper eye for details). Good work, sorry it took you so many tries Natemckn 18:53, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Can't it be rapidshare? I find it easier and faster. JackIsASpy 19:06, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Sure, its not my personal favorite, but whatever floats your boatNatemckn 19:09, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

http://rapidshare.com/files/433505686/Weapon_Demonstration_-_L_etranger.wmv JackIsASpy 19:26, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry but I have to ask, what resolution did you record this at and what sort of compression did you use? I'm comparing your source file to some of the others that I have uploaded and there is noticeable difference. See for yourself: Yours [1] vs sniper rifle [2]. They are both 720p so there shouldn't be this big of a difference. Natemckn 19:36, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I don't see the difference, may be my eyes but I record my game at 1360x760 (or 1360x768) somewhere there and what do you mean by compress? JackIsASpy 19:41, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Here are some full size screencaps [3] vs [4] Natemckn 19:50, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Mind joining us in IRC so we can try to figure out what you did? Natemckn 19:55, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I don't understand it.. how do I use it? JackIsASpy 20:37, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

[5] <-- Just click there Natemckn 20:44, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

This is my last attempt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIQH2m0NRKM JackIsASpy 22:04, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Rapidshare it! I actually took the time to watch it in HD on youtube and it looks good quality-wise. On par with everything else we have. Good work. Natemckn 22:09, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

http://rapidshare.com/files/433616818/Weapon_Demonstration_-_L_etranger.wmv Here JackIsASpy 10:03, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Any confirmations? JackIsASpy 18:57, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Ok tell me I didn't do all this **** for nothing, right? JackIsASpy 16:06, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Calm down, simply didn't notice your message (this page is getting huge). As for your video, it is perfect save one detail: unnecessarily long (longer than the music). Cloak regeneration doesn't have to be demonstrated three times, once (or probably twice would be better while not making it too long). If you can make another attempt that's exactly the same as this one but without the third demonstration of cloak regen, it'd be perfect~ — Wind 22:08, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Please be more specific sir(s), how long should it be? JackIsASpy 15:06, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

From 35 to 50 seconds should be enough for L'Etranger. That's what you should get if you only demonstrate cloak regen twice~ — Wind 06:08, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

So heres how it goes: I cloak. Kill Pyro. Optionally cloak again, kill Soldier. Kill Medic without cloaking before? Shoot target Taunt Then bob's your uncle. Right? JackIsASpy 10:35, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Yes, plus all the backpack view and all. Just like your previous video, except without the last cloak (and maybe without the soldier cloak, your call). Also, wait for the taunt to finish before ending the recording — Wind 22:15, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6mePzLUQAw Here it is. JackIsASpy 10:35, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Screwed up last time, heres the new one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoL20rKvenc JackIsASpy 11:39, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

All good except the backpack view. Look at your previous video, you got it right in that one: You must show the weapon statistics~ — Wind 18:42, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iObbSlLVgJU and http://rapidshare.com/files/436445500/Weapon_Demonstration_-_L_etranger.wmv. JackIsASpy 10:29, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Perfect, will upload~ — Wind 20:49, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
All done, thanks — Wind 20:55, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

SMG Demonstration

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CjBilTdYbU Is this good enough to embed? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Feneer (talk) • (contribs)

Looks good to me. Upload it to a place like mediafire.com and post the link here so we can upload it to the wiki youtube channel Natemckn 20:18, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Some things are wrong:
  • Start the recording with your mouse on the weapon, with the tooltip displayed
  • Didn't shoot the target at the back
  • Let the final reload animation finish before taunting

Wind 20:40, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Fixed the things we talked about, here's the download link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14614191/SMG.wmv Feneer 22:10, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Uploaded, embedded, & marked as done Natemckn 23:54, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Put as unlisted and needs to be redone, because the Sniper isn't holding the SMG at the beginning of the video :( Also, the relative volume of the audio is quite off (you can't hear the Sniper go "yyyaaahh" at the end) — Wind 00:03, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
D: How did I not notice that Natemckn 00:04, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Sigh, there's always something XD. I spliced in a new intro, sniper holding SMG this time, and cut the music volume by 5dB, hope it's ok: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14614191/SMG.wmv

Feneer 05:31, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm just wondering why my SMG video wasn't used since it's the same exact thing pretty much and I posted it before. Not a big deal, just wondering. Annephrank 19:07, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Looking up where you posted it, I see that Wind pointed out some things to fix on your SMG video, and I don't see any followup by you. I apologize if there was a miscommunication and you were working on fixing those things. Natemckn 19:15, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
The things he said happen in this video too. I can't reload at the end because the clip is on the final one. Annephrank 06:53, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
You could reload, there were a few bullets left (even though, yeah, it wouldn't be a complete clip). Also, the video is lacking music. But you're right, it seems that we both failed to notice that video D: Sorry... — Wind 22:15, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Frontier Justice (Equalizer too)

How should everythind proceed? --Lurkys302 08:39, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

For the frontier justice, your gonna have to spawn the bots separately. Spawn the pyro and kill him with the nocrit FJ,then build a level 1 sentry, then spawn the medic & the soldier at the same time and have one of them die, while the other kills the sentry, then use your revenge crit to kill the survivor. For the Equalizer, beat the pyro to death while at full health, run from the left wall to the right wall then back to center (to demonstrate speed), then have the medic and soldier shoot at you (till about half health), kill the soldier, demonstrate speed, have the medic shoot you to <25hp, kill the medic, demonstrate speed, tauntkill spy. Disclaimer: These are only my ideas and are not the only correct way to do these videos. Good luck Natemckn 16:38, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
I suggest spawning the Soldier and the Medic separately, otherwise it's going to be hard to have only one of them destroy the sentry since you can't order just one of them to fire. Spawn Pyro, kill it, spawn medic, build a regular level 1 sentry on the path between the starting box and the spot where the Soldier will be, sentry will kill the medic, then spawn soldier, make him rain rockets on your sentry, and then revengecrit him (and tauntkill the spy) — Wind 16:51, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
I already got an idea and arranged the video, uploading, is kinda similar tough just that they don't attact my sentry. --Lurkys302 17:43, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Finished, how's it? : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Tq-rJfQF7o --Lurkys302 17:59, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Should I put the download link already? --Lurkys302 23:12, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay for feedback. Wind and I talked this over and we liked parts of what you did, but we feel it would be done better in one continuous recording. You have some of the right pieces but they seem jumbled. Try following the process detailed by Wind in the post above as closely as possible so that the video is one continuous recording which better demonstrates the frontier justice and is easier to follow. Natemckn 00:39, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
In a nutshell: the content and the idea are right, only the order in which the sequences are shown is wrong. Try to fit it into one single sequence (put the sentry in the line of fire of the soldier), like the Wrangler demo — Wind 00:43, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
Oh, ok! But I have a little problem, I won't be having a lot of time this weekend until maybe Christmas to make the demonstrations.
I had a simpler (though perhaps longer) way to demonstrate the Frontier Justice: start off the video like normal, but have only an enemy Pyro and a friendly Soldier bot spawned. Shoot the Pyro once, wait, finish the Pyro off. Then. hop outside the box and build a level 1 Sentry. Spawn the Soldier, let the sentry kill it. Destroy the sentry to show how 2 revenge crits are given. Build another level 1. Spawn a Medic, but make sure the Soldier bot gets the kill (so your gun is assisting). Destroy the gun, showing 1 more revenge crit added (because of the assist). Spawn another Soldier bot or a Heavy bot, demonstrate the revenge crits. Shoot the far-away target with your remaining shot (Soldier or Heavy would take 2 shells to kill). Reload and taunt kill the Spy behind the boxes.

This is a longer, but more thorough way to demonstrate it. I would like to do this either tomorrow or Thursday, depending on if I can get my HDD to stop dying. Henry Spencer 12:27, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

The watches

Changed my mind. Thought about doing one for the watches. Any tips for the videos? I was thinking for the cloak and dagger to show how quickly it depletes while running, how slowly it depletes while crouch walking, and a 3rd person view of what happens when you move without any cloak left. Tardisphere 19:35, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Don't forget to show yourself standing still to show that the meter isn't depleting. Armisael 20:43, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Forgot to add that too. I can get a video up tomorrow. Tardisphere 21:08, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Don't forget to show enemy shots on you will reveal your position. Moussekateer 21:10, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Bushwacka Demonstration

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F05RCdLBDeA&fmt=22 How's this? I was initially going to show off the Bushwacka with Jarate and the Sydney Sleeper in two seperate portions, but that ended up going over the one minute requirement. RagnarHomsar 01:13, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

In your inventory you have translucent tooltips (which makes me think you use frankenhud). Those can be removed by taking every file in tf\resource\ui (or better yet, throwing them in a storage folder). I don't know if that's a game breaker, but if you do redo it, that's something to watch for.
Ach, I thought I got rid of FrankenHUD when I was preparing to record the video. Shoulda redone it when I noticed it, but oh well. Here's a fixed version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47n_EYJTe6E&fmt=22 . RagnarHomsar 02:01, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Not sure if it's a requirement, but you didn't show the 20% fire vulnerability. I had an example in my Bushwacka video above. Again, not sure if it's a requirement. Fendermcbender 17:25, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Would be nice, yes, just like the Southern Hospitality demo — Wind 22:08, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Eyelander and Headtaker Demonstrations

According to the checklist, these haven't been done and I don't see a topic on it in here or the archive so here are my contributions (once they finish processing)

Eyelander after corrections: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfYnzD6qzsU&fmt=22

Headtaker after corrections: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKn3ljuDSyM&fmt=22 Final :l

Also, I've just noticed that in both, the Sticky Bomb launcher is out.. That would be because when I boot up the CFG, the number of stickybombs out changes to '%ACC' which I remove by shooting a sticky off to the side and detonating it.

That's happening to me as well in my default config. Anyone know why or have a solution?

Forgot to sign again.. Sentry 09:05, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Nice work, but just some things I noticed. The sound seems to be dull and quiet, I can barely hear the Pyro's muffles for example. Also you don't need to do to the taunt twice. Once is enough. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 03:09, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Please have the class hold the demonstrated weapon during the backpack view (applies to both videos); sound seems off-sync for the eyelander one at the beginning; framerate is quite choppy; have the mouse on the weapon slot when you start recording — Wind 23:06, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Grenade Launcher Demonstration

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygOAJ5v8qXI

I probably need to clean this up a little bit. Mainly removing the extra Grenade I launched at the Medic. Bferret 22:02, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Alright, lots of things here:
  • Video looks blurry and upscaled; did you record at a low resolution and stretch it to 1920x1080?
  • Video has no music
  • Demoman is not holding the grenade launcher in backpack view
  • On the HUD, the sticky counter is overlapping the grenade ammo count for some reason
  • Video needs to demonstrate that grenades can bounce and roll, and still do damage when exploding (so don't do only direct hits)
  • Didn't reload at the end

A good attempt though~ — Wind 23:06, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

I will roll them towards the medic and add music.

I run the game at 1920 x 1080 and record at max quality and 60FPS in Fraps. I will fix these issues today or tomorrow for you. Bferret 23:11, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Also, is that a custom kill feed I see? I can't be all too sure. If it is, please switch to the default HUD when recording this. Thanks. :) -The Neotank ( | Talk) User The Neotank Signeotank.gif 23:26, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

It shouldn't be but I can reset my TF2 to defaults and see how that goes. Bferret 17:57, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

HHHH, Homewrecker and Telefrag

So, I made some demonstrations as well:

Please tell me what can I improve, and I'll try to do it right away. User McComBat Star.png mcComBat (t s) 15:05, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

The HHH should probably show the speed increase somehow. It should also show the cap at 4 heads.
The homewrecker should show you attacking an enemy building.
The telefrag video should probably show that telefrags can kill ubered players.

Just my two cents. Armisael 16:26, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

That's a good start~
  • Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker: Good, but like the Eyelander, it should also show the 4-heads cap on the health increase effect. Also, Demoman is not holding the weapon in the backpack view
  • Homewrecker: Good as well, but needs to show additional damage against enemy buildings too (have an engy bot build something). Also, Pyro is not holding the weapon in backpack view
  • Telefrag: Good idea, but not really easy to follow. I suggest using a third-person perspective for this one, and doing it more slowly. Or perhaps using a spectator camera to show what happens, and doing a picture-in-picture thing like the Razorback one~

Edit: Damn, Armisael beat me to it — Wind 16:29, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Ok, Thanks for the tips guys! I'll start working on that :) User McComBat Star.png mcComBat (t s) 18:23, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
Also, a question, to show the cap on the HHHH do I need to kill 5 bots? Or is there some other idea on how to demonstrate this? User McComBat Star.png mcComBat (t s) 18:39, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
Yes, kill 5 bots (and not the Spy, preferably). — Wind 18:40, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
Take 2 for the HHHH:
I already have new ideas for the homewrecker and telefrag, but i'll do them tomorrow.. it's pretty late here.
Also, does somebody work on the eyelander? If not I could do it too, it's pretty much the same as HHHH. User McComBat Star.png mcComBat (t s) 21:16, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
Very good, please upload the original and it'll be uploaded on the official channel. Only thing I can say abotu it is that it uses a minute-long song for a 30-second video (would be better with a ~37 seconds song), but that's very minor and no song will fit anyway so it's alright. Go ahead for the Eyelander, if you're first then it's okay, hehe — Wind 23:33, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
Ok :P I made the Eyelander:
Here's the HHHH:
If the Eyelander is ok you can download it from the same megafire folder. I'll make the tele and homewrecker a bit later.User McComBat Star.png mcComBat (t s) 14:19, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Eyelander is not OK because the sticky counter says "%A" D: — Wind 19:37, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Damn I always forget that one :< The config does this for some reason and I need to launch a sticky and blow it to get the counter back to normal.
Oh well, I'll do a new one tomorrow. User McComBat Star.png mcComBat (t s) 22:42, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Here, new Eyelander:
That's good, please upload original~ — Wind 18:42, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
Uploaded :)
It's in the same folder as the HHHH (http://www.mediafire.com/?w9m6ml7ugiwcm). User McComBat Star.png mcComBat (t s) 22:21, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
New Homewrecker:
It's already in the folder in case it's good enough. User McComBat Star.png mcComBat (t s) 21:29, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
Two things: (Minor) You should try having the RED Engineer not hold his toolbox, and (Major) Take your tiiiime, this is way too fast. Don't hammer things so fast, don't run this quickly, etc. — Wind 21:42, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
One thing to add: Make sure its a fully constructed sentry that you are demonstrating. Maybe even have one sentry of each level to show how many hits for each. I'm not sure how this would be set up though. Natemckn 21:46, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Knife

Noticed that nobody has done the stock knife yet.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_S4G-2eg7g

Used the supplied weaponref config with the exception of tf_weapon_criticals being set to 1 (so that the backstab animation actually plays).

Feedback welcome. Also, the source video file looks much better than the upload; this was the best I could make it with Premiere Pro (complete youtube + video newb). --I-ghost 21:34, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

It's okay to turn on critical hits for this one, yes. However, this does look kinda bad: It is double-letterboxed (black borders around all sides), not HD, and it looks slowed down for some reason (the Spy takes a while to raise his arm up). Content-wise, however, it looks fine, except two things: In the backpack view, the "Misc 2" slot looks active for some reason (probably a UI glitch, but it shouldn't show up), and you shouldn't taunt at the end (end the recording right after the tauntkill). That's it~ — Wind 23:33, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

New Grenade Launcher Demo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thCc05JLWU4 Kryzoid 03:55, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Seems that you don't have the modified HudDamageAccount.res D: Otherwise, all seems good. Since you're going to redo it, here's two other little details to fix on the next recording: wait a tiny bit longer in backpack view (just one more second), and a tiny bit less at the end of the video: don't show a black screen (either use a fade to black, either don't have a black screen at all and end the video with the in-game frames) — Wind 05:35, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
Are you sure about the HudDamageAccount.res? I installed it and everything just how the project page states, and you didn't say anything about that with my Headtaker demo O_o. Anyways, i'll redo it and everything later today (along with the HudDamageAccount.res) and sure, i'll get rid of the black screen, the only reason i add it is because last time i checked, YouTube cuts the last 1 second from every video uploaded. I didn't want it interfering with the end of the nade launcher taunt. That is unless i'm mistaken and they fixed it. Kryzoid 15:32, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
HudDamageAccount.res changes the damage text to a big yellow font instead of the small red one by default, to make it visible in videos. I didn't notice it in the HHHH one, sorry D: And for the cutoff, it all depends on the codec you use. If you use x264 like the project page recommends, there should be no cut-off~ — Wind 19:55, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
Second attempt/version here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWDoWu1MmrE Kryzoid 09:18, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
Good, can you upload the original? Small question though, why is there the critical hit sound in the last shot on the Medic? Can't see if it's a real critical pipe or not... If it is, please don't upload it and redo it without criticals. Also, if you feel like redoing it, you might wanna see the video just below this section, it has some pretty interesting shots.
I noticed the critical hit sound as well, and i was sure confused by it, since the "exec weaponref.cfg" has a "crits-off" line in there if i'm not mistaken. It's just a sound glitch. Anyways, here's the download link for version 2: http://www.mediafire.com/?yl858rpnnzp6wj1 AND i did a re-shoot without any glitched crit sounds, and more interesting shots. Grenade Launcher Demonstration Try 1

Im new and tho will not probably edit much but am glad to make videos to contribute to the Wiki my first attempt at the demo grenade launcher http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeUEj9RTx4Q I followed the steps as close as I could but please feel free to pick it apart. But 15:49, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Check the post just above you, someone did it already :( But I'll "pick it apart" anyway:
  • Stickybomb counter says "%A"
  • You are not using the modified HudDamageAccount.res (it makes damage text yellow and bigger)
  • You are using a custom crosshair
  • You have antialiasing off

You do have some pretty interesting pipe shots though (showing how they propel into the air), so if you fix all those things, perhaps your video should go instead of Kryzoid's — Wind 18:42, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Can weapons labeled as "Done but needs to be redone (old config)" be remade by anyone, or only by the original person? Kryzoid 21:04, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

They can be redone by anyone (assuming they are done correctly), but try to do one that doesn't have a video for it, if you can. If you don't feel comfortable doing any of the open ones, then go ahead and redo one that needs it Natemckn 21:15, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Not bad, not bad :3 I see you figured out how to make him cloak... Anyway, few things to fix:
  • The bots must be in the exact same position when you fire with the Bat/Scattergun for the second time, otherwise damage values aren't the same.
  • No need to use so many fades; the more that can be done in one take, the better (unless it makes the video too long, which probably will be a problem for this video). For example, the 4 first shots (bat+scattergun) plus the spy cloak thing should be in one take~
  • The fire extinguishing effect is better shown when extinguishing a bot, as shown in Jarate.
  • The video also needs to demonstrate that teammates can get healed too. I suggest you get a friendly bot to be damaged, then throw milk at some enemy bot in front of him, then have him fire and keep your cursor on him all the time to show that his health regenerates

That should be it~ Don't worry too much about video duration, as it will probably be quite long for this one — Wind 08:19, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

The Hibernating Bear

Other

Notes I'm glad i was able to do this in between all the hectic-ness around TF2 and the Wiki itself, but right now i'm going for the night. Hopefully i'll finish the Mad Milk demo as well sometime soon, along with maybe a few other demonstrations for the easier-to-do new weapons. ALSO: The new weapons need to be added to the bottom section of the project page, i was meaning to do it today but lost track of time.Kryzoid 09:46, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

That's a big bunch~
  • Brass Beast: Good but audio glitched at 0:25
  • Buffalo Steak Sandvich: I think the Sandvich thing is going to get removed soon anyway, so the taunt version is better. It's also better because it shows that it does not heal. However, both videos go quite fast :( Slow down between actions a bit~
  • Warrior's Spirit: Good, please upload~
  • Ullapool Caber: Good, please upload~

The Warrior's Spirit is uploaded but should be redone because the spy is showing. The Ullapool Caber and the Steak will both be live shortly Natemckn 22:47, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
I'm just curious to why it matters at all if there's a little glance of the spy? Annephrank 00:48, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
It doesn't, that's why the video has been accepted and uploaded. However, for the sake of consistency, if someone does a video of this weapon with all the same good stuff but without the Spy showing, that video will replace the current one. That's all it means~ It's not a big issue at all. — Wind 00:53, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Candy Cane

I'd like to reserve the video for the candy cane. While I'm setting up, anything specific that I would need to show? Elpacho 20:16, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

You need to show the same as the Bat, plus the health kits (stare at one for a few seconds and take it) and additional explosive damage. That's convenient: take a rocket from the soldier to show increased damage, then take health kits to heal yourself — Wind 20:27, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Ok, the video itself is done, gonna be uploading shortly. Apparently youtube hates me, I can't upload it for the time being, but here's a mediafire link: http://www.mediafire.com/?wdq5mmmdhx7jbgd Elpacho 21:23, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Not bad for a first attempt. A few thing I noticed: 1) The candy cane is not being held in the backpack view 2) You're not using the custom HudDamageAccount.res that makes the damage numbers big and yellow. 3) You have a custom kill feed (top right corner) 4) You should probably also demonstrate that getting a kill with other weapons still grants you the health kit. Thats all I noticed, Wind might see more EDIT: One more thing: make sure you are running on all high settings and at least 2x AA. EDIT2: And make sure the spy is not visible when you taunt at the end Natemckn 22:26, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback. I'll aknowlege it and tomorrow i'll remake it. Also I am running it Maxed out. For some reason on Highest quality, it still looks bad. Anyways expect an update. Also do you know which file is the custom killfeed? I wiped the hud, now I just need to whipe that bugger. Edit: V2 Done. A few things yes:
  • Use the config (it should have hud_fastswitch 1, which doesn't seem to be the case in your video)
  • Reload weapons when you're done using them
  • Scattergun the Soldier from a little bit more far away, I think it'll look more clear
  • In-game sound is a bit too loud, causing clipping (the little fzzzz in the sound) when the Scout says "Who wants some-a-dis?"

Thanks~ — Wind 20:22, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Fists of Steel

Since these videos don't take up too much time and I'm staying at home sick, I guess I can tackle this one after the Candy Cane. I'd like to reserve it and get any specific details, like how should I demonstrate it's attributes. Time to brainstorm! Elpacho 00:17, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Do the normal damage testing, then teleport the pyro and the soldier back. Do a melee exchange with the pyro and have the soldier shoot you with a rocket (be sure to heal in between). If you can, run the two exchanges split screen so that the differences are obvious. Armisael 23:21, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

The Back Scratcher

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMQqg36NvMM Not done processing, but I'm going to sleep now. If there are any problems I'll try to fix them tomorrow. [L4G] Zook 06:47, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

A few things: 1) You're gonna need to demonstrate both healing effects that the back scratcher does, so you're gonna need a medic and health packs to show the altered stats there. How you do that is up to you. 2) Try not to miss. You miss multiple attacks. 3) You aren't using the custom HudDamageAccount.res which makes the damage numbers big and yellow. 4) Don't show the spy unless you are taunt killing him, which you aren't in this video, so don't show him at all. 5) After killing the pyro, theres no reason to stare at his dead body (this one isn't that important, it just bothered me a tad). If I see anything else, I'll add it to this post Natemckn 13:49, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKrCxGQ6Uhg [L4G] Zook 01:11, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
Better, but quite some other things:
  • Medic bot should be called "Friendly Medic" preferably (not a hard rule but if you're doing it again, it'd be nice)
  • Cut the portion at the beginning where your mouse isn't hovering anything (first frame of the video should be showing the info box)
  • Framerate is low: Look at the rake swinging, it feels glitchy and slow (are you rendering using Source Recorder? Did you adjust host_framerate?)
  • No need to demonstrate healing effects twice. I realize that you are doing it two times to show that the attribute is still active while another weapon is held, but you can simply do it by holding the other weapon only; it should be enough (and use the Flamethrower as other weapon, preferably, because you know, it's the Pyro's main and iconic weapon). I agree that it's not a comprehensive demonstration if it doesn't show with both weapons, but the video is quite long as it is so this can be cut.
  • Spawn the bot and the health kits before recording, so no time is spent spawning them during the recording
  • There's a long stare before taunting for some reason
  • If, by cutting those extra things and reducing delays, you can get the video under a minute, pick a song that spans the whole video. If not, that's okay, and simply repeat songs like you did (but preferably not the same one over and over)

Brass Beast & Loch-N-Load Demonstrations

Blip.tv's being a pain, so until the videos are done uploading there, here are the files for download: http://www.mediafire.com/?4t72yirjx7dvv88 --Akuago220, The Jungle Expeditioner 03:42, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

When you go from the equip screen to the beginning of the video, instead of using a fade, you should click the close button so it looks more like in game. Besisdes that the LnL video is almost pefect, but the video cuts off a tad too soon at the end. Make sure you're back into first person view after the taunt before cutting the video. The Brass beast video you need to demonstrate the slowdown while spun up. and while shooting your muzzle flash glitches through the wall, so take a step back so that doesnt happen. Fix those minor issues and I think you're good. Natemckn 22:02, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Flamethower (again)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcmD2vW79-E Good now? I'm getting back to the videos. -- User Swordz Swordz.pngSwordzUser Swordz Swordz.png (talk | contribs) 17:19, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Looks good, but some parts feel too rushed, in my opinion. Also,
  • It would be nice to show the flamethrower's ability to ignite cloaked and invisible spies.
  • A good idea would be to show the pyro reflecting different projectiles, particularly that reflected grenades change color, reflected black box rockets heal you, reflected jarate/milk coats enemies, etc. I'm not sure how many different types of projectiles are needed for a demonstration video, as it'll take pretty long to show them all, even omitting the non-interesting ones.
  • A non-obvious feature to show would be that you can ignite the sniper's arrows. Since bots can't equip unlocks, I can help you with that, by playing an enemy sniper. :) Same thing with reflecting projectiles. I can also help with editing the videos. Zhnigo 01:02, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
Oh sorry Swordz, didn't see that one... Anyway yes, the comment on the video and Zhnigo bring the good point of demonstrating igniting cloaked spies. I don't think it's necessary to show reflection of all projectiles, but I suppose things like pushing stickies wouldn't hurt. Igniting arrows is a bit hard to demonstrate, but if you can, it'd be pretty awesome.

That weapon is a lot more complex than it looks, heh~ (Little detail: Name the BLU spy "Friendly Spy") — Wind 01:18, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

By the way, in your video all the bots attack simultaneously. You can prevent that by using the console command "bot_forcefireweapon (weapon name)", namely "bot_forcefireweapon tf_weapon_rocketlauncher" and "bot_forcefireweapon tf_weapon_flamethrower". - Zhnigo 01:20, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

The Jag

I'm doing the Jag vid, and I was wondering, should I just kill the bots with the wrench, or should I also demonstrate the increased build speed? My plan was to kill the Pyro, then build a sentry for the other two bots, Taunt, then end.

That sounds ok to me, I would also build a dispenser, just to show the speed difference twice, and make sure you are hitting the building while they are building because that is what causes the 30% speed boost to take effect. Natemckn 01:48, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
I'm afraid I can't do it, the software I was using imploded. GentleDementia 02:38, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Backburner, Brass Beast, Jag, Loch-N-Load, and Darwin's Danger Shield

Comments: Jag: I figured that running the two teleports at the same time would be the best way to demonstrate the acceleration. If you feel that one should be done with the Jag and one with the regular wrench, I understand, but won't be able to help (limited video editing software).

Loch-N-Load: I take splash at the beginning, when I'm not trying to demonstrate the increased splash. The splash fills the entire box.

DDS: I didn't have a bot with the DH (imagine that), so I went with the shotgun. It's a similar effect, but it may not be quite as demonstrative as you wanted. I could have the pyro melee me and the bot, if you would prefer that.

Golden Wrench: The golden wrench doesn't have a number, like a real one would. This is because I don't have one (wouldn't that be nice). Armisael 22:08, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

  • Backburner: Need to show that if you start crits by burning the back, afterburn damage doesn't crit
  • Brass Beast: You had a domination message. This should never happen if you reload the config before doing the demo
  • Jag: Hands are stuck... The Engineer should swing his wrench against his hands, like all other wrenches. That animation glitch happens sometimes. I'd hold off on that demonstration anyway, the additional build speed seems to be off and may be changed soon.
  • Loch-N-Load: Take full splash damage at the beginning, it saves time and prevents having to kill the Pyro twice. Also demonstrate that grenades don't bounce and don't have splash damage.
  • Darwin's Danger Shield: Not a bad idea, but here's an idea to make it a bit better:
    • Switch to third person view
    • Move somewhere in the middle (divided in two lanes)
    • Have two Soldiers (one per lane), one shooting at you and one shooting at the Sniper bot (which should be named "Friendly Sniper")
    • Record a demo of the thing, then play back the demo and put the camera in a position where you see both Snipers equally (one on the left half of the screen, one on the right)
    • (Don't taunt, the Darwin's Danger Shield has no taunt)
  • Boston Basher: Show that you can jump higher by hitting yourself, and that you can die by it too
  • Wrench: For demonstrating building construction speed, I suggest having two Engineers (one bot, one you) and having them build a Dispenser or a Sentry Gun side by side, like the Darwin's Danger Shield
  • Golden Wrench: The model in the backpack view is the regular wrench D: Also, corpses look like... chocolate or something. Did they change the texture? Try upping the graphics a bit. Lastly, spawn a fourth bot so that the Engineer may play his 4 unique Golden Wrench lines. Players don't get to hear them very often, so it'd be nice to have them all.
  • All demonstrations: Framerate and graphics seem a bit low compared to your previous demonstrations. Did you change computers? >: Also, please don't hide the mouse in backpack view. I know it's hidden in previous demos, but don't do it on future recordings if possible for more consistency. Not a big issue, but yeah.

Lastly, all of these weapons are soon going to have new killicons (at least, I assume); demos will have to be redone then. — Wind 00:20, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

    • General points:
      • Same computer. I dunno.
      • FRAPS hides the mouse my default. I'll go ahead and unhide it.
    • Weapons without killicons:Fair enough. Their stats are probably going to be shifting to, so those can wait.
    • Backburner: Fair enough.
    • Darwin:
      • The problem is that one rocket isn't enough to kill either sniper, but two will kill both. I'm working with bots, so if this will require the DH, then I'm not going to be much use.
      • I taunted to show what the darwin danger shield looks like, since it's not actually visible at any earlier point in the video.
    • Wrench: I suppose that works. I though that the two parts of the teleport would do the job just as well (since the point is to show one of them not being hit), but whatever.\
    • Golden wrench: I had all the texture altering graphics settings all the way up. Either they changed the texture, or my computer just won't do the job.
    • Anyways, I'm out on holiday travel until after the new year, so if anyone else wants to do these, please, go ahead.

Armisael 15:20, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Darwin's Danger Shield: That's why using a third-person camera would help, and alleviate the need to taunt; see Razorback
Wrench: The thing with two teleporters is that they're not built at exactly the same time, and it's not exactly the same building, so a newbie might simply think that they don't build at the same speed in the first place, and that the Wrench doesn't affect anything at all

Wind 21:34, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Also, I cranked all my graphics settings all the way, and I was still getting the chocolaty textures and the non-golden wrench in the backpack view. I think that that's just the way the golden wrench is; someone else should try it to confirm. Armisael 15:22, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

See Bots~ — Wind 02:02, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

The Amputator

Can I contribute the Amputator demonstration? I'm thinking of first demonstrating it as a regular melee weapon, then do a quick fade to black, have an enemy soldier fire a rocket at myself and two friendly bots, then heal them both (but not the medic himself) with the taunt. Zhnigo 01:12, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Of course you may contribute, provided you fulfill all the requirements. Some little details about your (good, by the way) plan:
  • Make sure the rocket damages yourself, to show that the taunt does NOT heal the Medic
  • While taunting, point your cursor at a friendly bot to show his health bar regenerate
  • If you somehow can do it (not sure how you would do it, but if you somehow can), try showing that you can fully heal a 1 HP heavy to 300 HP provided the time after injury is long enough

That should be it~ — Wind 02:02, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

The first version of the Amputator video.
  • In the first cut I should probably wait a bit before attacking the pyro.
  • Should I taunt in the first cut if I'm going to taunt in the second? The first cut allows to look at te taunt animation from different angles, because in the second cut I'll have to show the rasing health of the teammates I'm healing.
  • Concerning your offer about healing a heavy from 1 hp, the plan is as follows: change the second cut so that my team has two heavies, then have the soldier fire three rockets at the first one, one rocket at the medic, and three more rockets at the second one, then have the medic heal both heavies for different amounts of health. I'll make sure so that the procedure takes long enough time for the first heavy to be able to be fully healed in one taunt.
  • I'm using Fraps, and the sound quality of the recording is worse than I expected. Is there a way around it? Zhnigo 00:33, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
  • Also, is there a console commad to clear gibs and blood?
"In the first cut I should probably wait a bit before attacking the pyro." -> Yes
Taunting: You may do it in both, but do NOT show the Spy when rotating the camera (visible in first cut)
"healing a heavy from 1 hp" -> Alright. By the way, how are you making the Scout not shoot? I thought bot_forceattack made all bots attack, with no way around it.
Sound quality: That's the fist thing I noticed and that's the only technical complaint about your video. Is that your microphone recording your speakers, or is it really the Stereo Mix input? Make sure to select the right one, adjust its volume so that there is no clipping, and check that Fraps does use it. Also try recording from that input.
command to clear gibs and blood: No, sadly, I wish there was one too sometimes. it's okay if there's just a little blood on the walls due to previous takes, but not okay when there's bodies or fallen weapons, or excessive blood (which is the case in that video), so please reload the map when it gets too messy. I know it's annoying :(
Thanks though, that's a pretty good first attempt :o
P.S.: Wait a bit between the 2 taunts in the second take, to make viewers understand that the healing effect stops after the taunt and doesn't continue for a few seconds or something. — Wind
I'm making only the desired bots shoot by using the "bot_forcefireweapon" command, "bot_forcefireweapon tf_weapon_rocketlauncher" in this case.
Of course I'm using stereo mix input, with all the parameters done right, it's a fraps problem. Guess I'll just have to use a separate tool to record audio simultaneously with fraps recording video. What a pain.
There should be a console command to enforce decals' limit. Might use that to my advantage by setting it to low and then spilling some blood somewhere out of sight, like killing the spy behind crates a couple of times.
Is there a way to get back to default HUD after I'm done with the videos? Except for deleting/renaming HudDamageAccount.res. - Zhnigo 01:16, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
I see~ Good to know. I think the decal modification and then spilling some blood on the side will take longer than actually reloading the map though (it takes a second to reload if it's already loaded), but I guess it does require resetting up the bot and all. I'm not sure what you're asking about the HUD though, because this is the default HUD, only with big yellow damage numbers. So yes, delete or rename HudDamageAccount.res to go back to the default HUD, no other way than that. — Wind 01:22, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
It has just occured to me that the Amputator has no custom kill icon. Does that mean I'll have to wait with the video until it appears? Anyway, the second cut has no kill icons displayed, so making it sholuld be okay by now.
Yeah, and the custom HUD disables clock.
Indeed it doesn't; that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it, it just means that it'll need to be redone afterwards. Whether that "afterwards" is tomorrow or in 3 months, I can't say, so... Anyway, HudDamageAccount.res doesn't remove the clock, it's just hidden because the map has no objective or timer. You can play on a regular server and the clock will show up fine~ — Wind 02:21, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

The second version, anything else to improve? - Zhnigo 04:46, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Yes: Don't rotate the model in the backpack view; pre-select a good rotation before starting the recording (Sorry I didn't catch that one in the first attempt)... You can however only re-shoot the backpack part and then use the gameplay footage you already have, it'll be fine. — Wind 07:25, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

The third version. :) Zhnigo 16:59, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Looks good to me. Post a download link and I will add it to the wiki youtube channel Natemckn 17:01, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

The download link. Thanks to everyone for good advice and understanding. :) I'd like to make the Targe video next. - Zhnigo 18:09, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Video is uploaded and live on the Amputator page. Good job Natemckn 19:10, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Chargin' Targe

I'm thinking of demonstrating these abilities, filmed with appropriate cuts to allow the meter to recharge:

  • Naturally, the ability to dash. I'm planning to use a bottle, as it's the default demo melee weapon, any objections?
    • No crit from short distance, mini-crit from medium distance and a full crit from a full distance shown separately.
    • Targe bash. Might demonstrate this and a full crit simultaneously.
  • Resistance to fire and explosions (by having a demoman bot with a stickylauncher out get killed off by a pyro and a soldier, then survivng the same attacks).

Some less-obvious things to show - please choose what to include and what to omit, as adding them all will greatly increase the video length. Some can be combined with others:

  • The ability to slightly turn while charging.
  • The ability to charge with the grenade launcher out (without being able to shoot).
  • Prolonged charge duration with a Claidheamh Mor.
  • Reduced charge speed with a Skullcutter.
  • No resistance to own explosions. (How do I show that obviosly enough?)
  • Increased Targe bash damage with every head taken (up to 5).

Also, my targe is vintage, is that acceptable? I'll try to acquire a common one for a cleaner look. - Zhnigo 18:09, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Use all stock weapons except the targe.
  • Ability to turn: You can show that during any charge really
  • Ability to charge with the grenade launcher out: You can also show that in any charge, and then demonstrate that you can switch weapon while charging
  • Prolonged charge duration with a Claidheamh Mor: No, that's part of the Claidheamh Mor demo.
  • Reduced charge speed with a Skullcutter: Same
  • No resistance to own explosions: Not sure that's worth demonstrating nor obvious indeed, so no
  • Increased Targe bash damage with every head taken (up to 5): If possible, but not all 5 possibilities (only 0 and 5 heads probably)

Vintage weapons are accepted without any "discrimination", so please use whichever one you like — Wind 00:27, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

The first version. I was in a hurry, so I forgot to add fades to the second half of the video. Also, the friendly demo doesn't have his sticky launcher out. I'll fix both. Anything else aside from that? Zhnigo 03:53, 28 December 2010 (UTC) Two things:

  • Please not be in a hurry (this also applies to the video, please take your time. I know you're going fast to stay under the 1 minute limit, but don't try so hard, do take longer pauses before and after charges)
  • Chat text visible at 0:30
  • Do things in the "natural" order: Charges are the primary function of the Chargin' Targe, so they should be demonstrated before effects like fire/explosive resistance

Wind 05:51, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Trouble getting the map properly downloaded

I think I may be doing something wrong when I try to download the target map for making the video. I save the link provided in maps, and saved the weaponsref thing as a text file. Was I not supposed to do that? I know I made a mistake somewhere, but I just need someone to point out where.--Karonen 06:04, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Did you unrar the map file (so that you get tr_weaponref.bsp)? The weaponref file is meant to be saved as weaponref.cfg file, and the HudDamageAccount file is supposed to be saved as HudDamageAccount.res. — Wind 07:56, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

The Brass Beast

This is my first go at a demonstration video. I noticed The Brass Beast didn't have a video yet, and it seemed like a relatively easy weapon to showcase, so that's what I ended up choosing. Let me know what needs improving.

Very good for a first attempt, but...
  • Colors look washed out (use another codec (x264vfw) or change your color settings)
  • Don't rotate the model in backpack view
  • OH GOD THE CLIPPING ERRORS WHILE TAUNTING THEY'RE HORRIBLE (just kidding, they're Valve laziness's fault)

I like how you wait until the spindown is finished completely; however, you can start re-spinning up before the gun is completely non-spinning, so don't wait that much or people might think you really need to wait that much. Only wait that much before the final taunt~ — Wind 21:11, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

The Claidheamh Mòr

This is my first submission. The first part is the usual killing all the enemies, the second part is a comparison between the Charge n Targe length of the Bottle and the Claidheamh Mòr.

%A on sticky counter and don't taunt if there's no taunt. Shock394 19:39, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
Also, the spy is visible. Shock394 19:41, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
Quite a lot of things D:
  • Resolution is too low (not 720p, and even the current resolution looks upscaled)
  • Framerate is too low (video not smooth)
  • Audio quality is poor (fizzzzz in audio, clipping, volume too low)
  • (%A visible, spy visible, and don't taunt, as Shock394 said)

The Charge idea comparison is good though~ — Wind 21:11, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

Alright I redone it. Hopefully this one works better, tell me if anything else needs to be fixed.

You still have problems on visual(fuzzy on HD) and audio (low volume), did you just modify the video instead of doing it again? Shock394 22:34, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

I remade it. I didn't just edit the original. I can try to fix these. --DarkShard 22:58, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

Before I go on to fix the remaining problems, If I edit the game volume in the Audio tab in options, will that interfere with sound? So you don't hear that fizzz sound coming from the map. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by DarkShard (talk) • (contribs)
Better, but the framerate is still low (video is not smooth D:...), audio still fizzes for some reason, and antialiasing seems to be off. I don't know why that fizz is there (are you putting your microphone in front of your speakers and recording from that? lol), so play with the sound options and see what works. — Wind 23:29, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
If possible, can you keep this weapon on reserve? Thanks. --DarkShard 00:30, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Might I make a suggestion? You way want to adjust the begginning position of your bottle charge so it'll stop at one of the yellow and black markers on the floor, then initate a Claidheamoh Mor charge from the same starting position and overshoot the marker (and then turn around and look at it). This way, the increased distance of the Claidheamh Mor charge will be easier to visually judge. :) You can use the "status" console command to accurately pinpoint your current position in X, Y and Z. - Zhnigo 00:46, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

I finally fixed the audio!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Th-08iqPtAc

As for the FPS, I think it looks a bit better, but does It have to be perfect as if you were playing on a super computer? The requirements state more than 30 frames, that looks like more than 30 frames to me. --DarkShard 01:54, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Audio is good~ (What did you change? In case others have the same problem) But for the frames per second, this definitely isn't 30 frames per second :( Compare http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rv5gEkcZr9o and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Th-08iqPtAc ; doesn't one feel a lot smoother than the other? (Hint: if it doesn't, your computer can't play the smoother one at 30 frames per second in the first place) — Wind 02:00, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

How I fixed the audio: I use Realtek drivers, and there is an option in the Realtek Audio Manager which enables Dolby Audio Enhancer, "Adding clarity to your highs while extending up to an octave of extra bass" It turns out this was the problem and so I disabled the Audio Enhancer. As for the FPS, I did see a difference in the videos, I will try to fix it. Thanks. --DarkShard 12:51, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Question:What did you use to record it? There maybe a problem with the recorder you're using. Shock394 16:52, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
I used FRAPS. If your curious about my specs, here they are:
  • Toshiba Satellite L675D
  • AMD Phenom II N640 Dual-Core 2.90 Ghz
  • 4.00 GB of RAM
  • ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

Hopefully these can do If I find a solution. --DarkShard 21:40, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

I was only hoping for the program you are recording, is it full version or downloaded (can only record for up to 30 sec)? Shock394 22:07, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
It is the full version. --DarkShard 23:17, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Try using a different recorder. Shock394 03:44, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Sandman

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkntgMsR8L4

First submission, for the Sandman. Comments and stuff are welcome :3 seb26 [talk] 07:11, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Framerate is a bit low D: Also needs to demonstrate full-immobilization if hit from a large distance. Only the Spy should be used for tauntkills (move him if you need to show that it throws people away) — Wind 07:16, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
Take 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SB-tUECA2Cw
Framerate upped to 60fps, and I altered the general format of the demonstration as well. The first part demonstrates a simple melee kill with the bat, a short stun and then being killed by the ball. I chose to break the long range Medic stun and the Spy taunt kill up into separate sequences. I've left a few of the scenes run a little too long towards the end which I'll fix up and re-export soon, however, I wanted to see if the overall demonstration setup is okay. seb26 [talk] 09:15, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Huntsman

I've seen the weapon demonstration video for the huntsman, but I think it's redone. I think it's good that they included the bodyshot, headshots (charged and uncharged), how long until the "shaking" starts, as well as the taunt kill. However, they missed out two things: how the arrow pins ragdolls to the wall, and how friendly Pyros can light up friendly arrows and set fire to enemies on hit. The former one, I think it can be optional to show, as it's purely cosmetic, but the latter one is not shown in the video, and it's an important feature,so I think the video has to be redone. I actually commented on the video about this, but apparently no one listens to me there so I posted this here again. TFHK 02:14, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Then again, on second thought, if you wanted to show how far the ragdoll flies with the Sandman taunt (which is also purely cosmetic), maybe you should include the ragdoll being pinned to a nearby wall by an arrow, for that matter. TFHK 04:26, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

You make a very good point. Thanks for bringing this up. I went ahead and marked the huntsman to be redone Natemckn 05:07, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Seconded — Wind 05:11, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

YouTube Partnership?

If the TF2 Wiki YouTube channel decides to go onto the Partnership program, what will happen to all the video contributors? Corkscrew 03:48, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

We asked Robin about the Partnership program already (unrelated to weapon demonstrations) and he said no, because that would be making money of Valve's back. Mistakenly, Pilk did enable the account for revenue sharing, but the money isn't going anywhere and we currently have a ticket open to YouTube support about disabling that (except that it seems YouTube isn't bothering). In any case, no one will get paid here, staff included — Wind 05:11, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Another batch to be critiqued

Also: I ran through the golden wrench with the graphics cranked all the way (obviously couldn't record at any decent framerate), and still got the chocolate textures and non-golden backpack wrench. Somone should check to verify, but I suspect that the those are the textures. If not, there's nothing I can do.

Crusader's Crossbow: Differentiate bodyshots and headshots more clearly (aim at their nuts) to demonstrate non-headshot-i-ness; also try to demonstrate the heal points based on target distance a little more clearly (see the current demo), by damaging the heavy a bit more.
Sydney Sleeper: Also differentiate headshots from bodyshots a lot more clear than this; for example, at 0:21, you aim for the Soldier's head and keep charging on the head, yet right when shooting you put the rifle down and do a neck-shot. Either aim at their head or at their lower torso, but not in between and don't change your aim in the middle of it, preferably. Also show a fully-charged jarate'd shot~
All other demos are good, please keep up the good work :3 — Wind 20:45, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Do you record with some weird codec or something? The colors in your videos seems strange, like, the blu and red are stronger and the skin color in darker/messed up. Compare to other videos and you will now what i say. Maybe it's just my monitor -- User Swordz Swordz.pngSwordzUser Swordz Swordz.png (talk | contribs) 20:51, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Yes, the colors are a bit contrast-y, especially in the Backburner one if anything. Not a big issue, but if you've got the original video files, you might wanna reencode them some other way~ — Wind 20:53, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Fair enough about the headshots. I'm using the windows movie maker 2006 720p codec, so nothing strikingly unusual. Its the way that all of the videos I've submitted have looked, so I guess it's your call. I do have all the unencoded files if redoing them is necessary. Armisael 21:20, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Please try encoding them with x264vfw as recommended. — Wind 21:24, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
