Criticisms? Things I've missed? I had the Soldier shoot the Pyro just to demonstrate the +75 hp on kill more effectively. - Mr. Magoolachub 14:40, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Looks perfect to me. Upload it somewhere so we can add it to the wiki youtube channel Natemckn 15:06, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Video editing tool?

Yeah... I'm trying to do a video for the Bushwhacka, and the way I'm planning to do requires a couple of fade in/out, etc. Any help? --Jetamo 10:59, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Use Sony Vegas if you have it. You can fade things by just throwing a video inside the other (on the last seconds), i think movie maker can fades too Swordz 16:08, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

L'etranger Video

L'etranger video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTi49f6DmJU JackIsASpy 17:51, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

A few issues: 1) Your high viewmodel fov. Set it back to default please 2) Make sure to start with full ammo. Fix those two things and I think you're good. Natemckn 17:54, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Okay I'm on it JackIsASpy 18:27, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Ok I hope this works out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2-GySRP1Js JackIsASpy 19:32, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

One thing I didn't notice on your old vid. You are not using the custom damage numbers. They should be yellow. The project page details how to install the custom Huddamageaccount.res. Sorry I didn't point that out on the first one. Keep up the good work Natemckn 20:17, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Some other things...
  • In backpack view, the "head" slot looks like it's selected (bug?)
  • Has timer at the top
  • Audio: The steel training video is 1:02 in length, you should use that one instead, to avoid looping
  • Didn't shoot target at the back

Wind 20:40, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Another attempt - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C83DfB4O2o JackIsASpy 21:09, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Still didn't shoot the target at the back, and still has timer at the top (did you use the latest config, with mp_timelimit 0?); also, use the default crosshair (forgot to include that in the previous list) — Wind 21:13, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
It looks right to me, but i think it would be better if you killed those 3 normally, and then fade to another take where you do the cloak thing on the spy. It's what i would do. (I'm not a moderator) Swordz 21:13, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Make sure you have updated config file, it will remove the timer at the top. Only reload when you are out of ammo (with the exception of reloading before taunting at the end). Shoot the target then reload before you taunt. Keep trying, you're getting close, the first is always the hardest to get right. Natemckn 21:14, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Wow hard work. But i'll do it. JackIsASpy 21:18, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Here it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWHuuAjC56k JackIsASpy 10:13, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Sooo close! One thing: Only reload when you are out of ammo (except for at then end). Thats the only thing I noticed.Natemckn 16:20, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BuQlJZitzc JackIsASpy 18:37, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I cannot see anything more to fix (Wind might though). If you could upload that to dropbox or mediafire, I'll go ahead and upload it to the wiki youtube channel. I wont make it public or embed it until Wind takes a look at it first (he has a much sharper eye for details). Good work, sorry it took you so many tries Natemckn 18:53, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Can't it be rapidshare? I find it easier and faster. JackIsASpy 19:06, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Sure, its not my personal favorite, but whatever floats your boatNatemckn 19:09, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry but I have to ask, what resolution did you record this at and what sort of compression did you use? I'm comparing your source file to some of the others that I have uploaded and there is noticeable difference. See for yourself: Yours [1] vs sniper rifle [2]. They are both 720p so there shouldn't be this big of a difference. Natemckn 19:36, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I don't see the difference, may be my eyes but I record my game at 1360x760 (or 1360x768) somewhere there and what do you mean by compress? JackIsASpy 19:41, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Here are some full size screencaps [3] vs [4] Natemckn 19:50, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Mind joining us in IRC so we can try to figure out what you did? Natemckn 19:55, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I don't understand it.. how do I use it? JackIsASpy 20:37, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

This is my last attempt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIQH2m0NRKM JackIsASpy 22:04, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Rapidshare it! I actually took the time to watch it in HD on youtube and it looks good quality-wise. On par with everything else we have. Good work. Natemckn 22:09, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

http://rapidshare.com/files/433616818/Weapon_Demonstration_-_L_etranger.wmv Here JackIsASpy 10:03, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Any confirmations? JackIsASpy 18:57, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Ok tell me I didn't do all this **** for nothing, right? JackIsASpy 16:06, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Calm down, simply didn't notice your message (this page is getting huge). As for your video, it is perfect save one detail: unnecessarily long (longer than the music). Cloak regeneration doesn't have to be demonstrated three times, once (or probably twice would be better while not making it too long). If you can make another attempt that's exactly the same as this one but without the third demonstration of cloak regen, it'd be perfect~ — Wind 22:08, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Please be more specific sir(s), how long should it be? JackIsASpy 15:06, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

From 35 to 50 seconds should be enough for L'Etranger. That's what you should get if you only demonstrate cloak regen twice~ — Wind 06:08, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Sniper Rifle Demonstration

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slWWlxKCYng

Can someone please let me know if this is the right idea? SMG on the way as well. Feneer 18:27, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

This is just me, but I woulda shown noscopes on the Pyro, shortscopes on the Soldier, and a fully charged bodyshot on the Medic, then a fully charged headshot onto the Spy. JackIsASpy 18:31, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Ok, one thing i noticed, you're using a 16:10 ratio, hence the black bars on the sides. please use 16:9 (example 1280x720). Besides that, I like it Natemckn 18:46, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Taken both your comments on board, here's the new version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2Esek8ItIE Feneer 19:18, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

I feel that your first video demonstrated it better, it effectively showed all 5 possible shots (noscope, uncharged bodyshot, uncharged headshot, charged bodyshot and charged headshot). The spy is to only be used to taunt kills. Sorry for the confusion.Natemckn 19:24, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Some other things...
  • Didn't shoot the target at the back
  • Start the recording with your mouse on the weapon, with the tooltip displayed

I think you may have uploaded the wrong one, its 16:10 and the mouse doesn't start at on the mouseover
This makes me feel very silly indeed, here's the correct version: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14614191/SniperRifle.wmv Feneer 05:31, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
No really, it's totally fixed now XD Same link as before, if you please Feneer 13:53, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Looks good to me. Upload it to a place like mediafire.com and post the link here so we can upload it to the wiki youtube channel Natemckn 20:18, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Some things are wrong:
  • Start the recording with your mouse on the weapon, with the tooltip displayed
  • Didn't shoot the target at the back
  • Let the final reload animation finish before taunting

Put as unlisted and needs to be redone, because the Sniper isn't holding the SMG at the beginning of the video :( Also, the relative volume of the audio is quite off (you can't hear the Sniper go "yyyaaahh" at the end) — Wind 00:03, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
D: How did I not notice that Natemckn 00:04, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Sigh, there's always something XD. I spliced in a new intro, sniper holding SMG this time, and cut the music volume by 5dB, hope it's ok: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14614191/SMG.wmv

Feneer 05:31, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm just wondering why my SMG video wasn't used since it's the same exact thing pretty much and I posted it before. Not a big deal, just wondering. Annephrank 19:07, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Looking up where you posted it, I see that Wind pointed out some things to fix on your SMG video, and I don't see any followup by you. I apologize if there was a miscommunication and you were working on fixing those things. Natemckn 19:15, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Shortstop

So, i tried to do it like the natascha video, but this weapon doesn't slowdown anything after all. What should i do? Swordz 19:53, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

The shortstop has no slowdown. If it did, it would be even more overpowered compared to what it is now. Don't demonstrate it, that's all — Wind 20:37, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgZ4zZP92yA That's what i got. PS: I have uploaded directly to the channel (unlisted of course) so i don't need to upload it again if it's right (slow internet + i can't use it when it's uploading because everything becomes soo slow :P) Swordz 21:08, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
"The shortstop has no slowdown" Um, lol? It does have slowdown, it's just weak compared to what Natascha does. Toomai Glittershine 23:03, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Nope, it has no slowdown at all. Try it out for yourself — Wind 23:19, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Frying pan

Yay! I contributed too, I am still new to this tough. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t9xjowj5Ps Lurkys302 00:40, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Looks pretty good for a first try. One thing I noticed, at the very beginning, when you are mouseovering the frying pan, the demo is holding the sticky launcher. To make him hold the frying pan, (before you record) edit the melee slot and click "keep" next to the frying pan. Voila, he is holding the frying pan, then you can start recording. Since the frying is equippable by both the soldier and demo, you need to record the exact same thing for the soldier and add it to the end. See the Lugermorph video for a good example. Thanks for contributing Natemckn 22:57, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
What Natemckn said. Also, please put a download link to the original file~ — Wind 23:01, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

The original file is bigger tough, I think it would take more time to upload. --Lurkys302 01:25, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Lurkys302

As Natemckn said, since this weapon can be used by both the Demoman and the Soldier, you need to record both videos and put them into one, then add the music on top of that; see Lugermorph's demonstration. Why would the "original file" be bigger? By original file, I mean the file that you uploaded to YouTube. It takes the same time as the time it takes to upload it to YouTube. — Wind 23:28, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Oh ok, going to film for the soldier too! --Lurkys302 01:25, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Lurkys302 There it is : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZDLkNqYg6I http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15770113/tf2_wiki_final_frying_pan_ratchet302_solly_and_demo.wmv (as before right click and "save as" :D) Have to do else? --Lurkys302 01:25, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Lurkys302

Aaaalmost there. First, put the song over the final thing, not over each video; second, the Spy is visible during the Soldier taunt; and third, there is a delay at the end of the Soldier one (5 seconds of staring forward, lol) — Wind 00:16, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I refilmed everything again lol, I kicked the Spy while I was at it. Now I am editing. --Lurkys302 01:25, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Lurkys302 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Th8l6cEhi-8 ? --Lurkys302 01:25, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Lurkys302

Denmax

Denmax 04:36, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

A few things I noticed
  • You need to show that shooting too fast you cant get headshots
  • You need to shoot the target in the back at the end
  • After shooting the target, but before taunting, you need to manually reload
I'm sure Wind will point out a few more things, but its a good start. You can see the ambassador video I made with the old config. Its embedded on the ambassador pageNatemckn 04:39, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
  • Already did the first point; but maybe it would have been best if I did it on the Pyro perhaps, since it was barely noticeable the Medic being too far.
  • I noticed two targets, the one standing on top of the crates and the barely noticeable "behind the cart".
  • I see; should I avoid moving the direction whilst taunting?
  • Denmax 08:37, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
I'd suggest demonstrating that fast headshots dont work on the soldier. (Two slow headshots on the pyro, then click and hold on the soldiers head to show that fast headshots dont work, then bodyshots on the medic). The target on top of the crates is the one you want (See any other video including the old Ambassador one for an example Natemckn 16:23, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Bushwacka Help - Video Editing Exp. Needed

So I've been working on the Bushwacka on and off because I've been busy. The problem I've run into is the video editing part of it. Specifically the exporting of the video file. I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and I've filmed all my footage at 1900 X 1000, give or take. (I have a weird dimension because I use my TV as a monitor.) Because of this, all the footage takes forever to export and encode. I know a quick and easy way to solve this would be recording at a lower resolution. However, that's not all. The TF2 files are at 60fps where the project file that I use for Premiere is 29.97 fps. I think it's because of this that when I export the file (after it takes like, 2 hours :V) that the footage is all blurry. It's good quality and all, but when I move the screen, the closest thing I could compare it to would be a major overkill on motion blur. Are there any video editing gurus that can help me out? Perhaps recommend another program they use or essentially hold my hand through this process? Fendermcbender 05:00, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Use Sony Vegas. It's much easier, bro. JackIsASpy 10:38, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I have to agree with Jack, Vegas is the way to go, and surprisingly cheap if you drop by a certain Swedish website Feneer 13:56, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Crop to 16:9 if needed. 1920x1080 is good and is not a "weird" resolution (it's the 1080p option in youtube) — Wind 16:51, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Frontier Justice (Equalizer too)

How should everythind proceed? --Lurkys302 08:39, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

For the frontier justice, your gonna have to spawn the bots separately. Spawn the pyro and kill him with the nocrit FJ,then build a level 1 sentry, then spawn the medic & the soldier at the same time and have one of them die, while the other kills the sentry, then use your revenge crit to kill the survivor. For the Equalizer, beat the pyro to death while at full health, run from the left wall to the right wall then back to center (to demonstrate speed), then have the medic and soldier shoot at you (till about half health), kill the soldier, demonstrate speed, have the medic shoot you to <25hp, kill the medic, demonstrate speed, tauntkill spy. Disclaimer: These are only my ideas and are not the only correct way to do these videos. Good luck Natemckn 16:38, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
I suggest spawning the Soldier and the Medic separately, otherwise it's going to be hard to have only one of them destroy the sentry since you can't order just one of them to fire. Spawn Pyro, kill it, spawn medic, build a regular level 1 sentry on the path between the starting box and the spot where the Soldier will be, sentry will kill the medic, then spawn soldier, make him rain rockets on your sentry, and then revengecrit him (and tauntkill the spy) — Wind 16:51, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
I already got an idea and arranged the video, uploading, is kinda similar tough just that they don't attact my sentry. --Lurkys302 17:43, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Finished, how's it? : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Tq-rJfQF7o --Lurkys302 17:59, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Should I put the download link already? --Lurkys302 23:12, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay for feedback. Wind and I talked this over and we liked parts of what you did, but we feel it would be done better in one continuous recording. You have some of the right pieces but they seem jumbled. Try following the process detailed by Wind in the post above as closely as possible so that the video is one continuous recording which better demonstrates the frontier justice and is easier to follow. Natemckn 00:39, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
In a nutshell: the content and the idea are right, only the order in which the sequences are shown is wrong. Try to fit it into one single sequence (put the sentry in the line of fire of the soldier), like the Wrangler demo — Wind 00:43, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
Oh, ok! But I have a little problem, I won't be having a lot of time this weekend until maybe Christmas to make the demonstrations.

PS: Already on the channel Swordz 13:22, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

The only problem I see with the three is the weird flamethrower visual bug thingy where you light the soldier yet the flames dont go near him. The same thing happened in the degreaser video and Wind said to redo it so I'm sure the same applies here. Just jump on or out of the box to light the soldier. Besides that, I see no problem with the other two. Natemckn 16:31, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
What Nate said — Wind 16:51, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Corrected and re-uploaded. I think i did it too fast. If you want me to remake it leave that one public and i will do another one
Yeah, it looks good, just too fast for some to follow. Redoing it with some pauses between stuff would help. Natemckn 22:38, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry about the problems on others videos. It's very easy to screw something when you do it 20+ times. I usually start doing everything extremelly fast when it goes wrong a bunch of times. Swordz 13:37, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
Sandman video should probably show a moon shot as well as a regular hit (and maybe even one that's too close-range to work), if the map is big enough for it to be possible. Toomai Glittershine 14:48, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
I think there's enough space. Swordz 15:39, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
  • Sandman: Yes, show a moon shot, put a bot somewhere or something.
  • Pain train: Do all of the Soldier stuff before the Demoman stuff, don't mix things up. This will also allow you to show bullet vulnerability in one take (less takes is always better)
  • Dalokohs bar: Doesn't really demonstrate all of it. Has to show that it goes back to normal after 30 seconds, has to show that eating again won't get you 400 health, and has to show that the overheal limit is still 450; see the other video about it on this page

All the others are good, please publish~ — Wind 22:08, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Huntsman/Revolver published. Going to do pain train/dalocks/sandman/flamethrower remake tomorrow. Swordz 22:42, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

The flamethrower one still goes way too fast (do nothing for like 3 seconds before having the Soldier fire), and you should take some steps back when reflecting the rocket back at the Soldier, otherwise it looks like the rocket doesn't appear on screen at all. Also, both videos have a very long period of black screen (Especially the Flamethrower video, all of the second half is a black screen) — Wind 04:08, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
I have no idea how this black screen thing happened. I feel that the framerate is a bit too low... was it at 30 fps? Swordz 17:31, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
That's what FRAPS said I was doing. I can try running them again at 50 fps if you think it's necessary. Armisael 17:58, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Also: how are the shotgun segments going to be concatenated? Run all the inventory bits, one of the classes running through the tests, and then all the taunts?

The watches

Changed my mind. Thought about doing one for the watches. Any tips for the videos? I was thinking for the cloak and dagger to show how quickly it depletes while running, how slowly it depletes while crouch walking, and a 3rd person view of what happens when you move without any cloak left. Tardisphere 19:35, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Don't forget to show yourself standing still to show that the meter isn't depleting. Armisael 20:43, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Forgot to add that too. I can get a video up tomorrow. Tardisphere 21:08, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Don't forget to show enemy shots on you will reveal your position. Moussekateer 21:10, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

I recommend to leave the videos that need to be redone to the people that did them. My jarate video was alright, it just needed a spy cloak thing in the end. (Please not that i'm not impeding you from doing it :P)
Fair enough. I did it because I was bored and knew how to do that video. Armisael 21:37, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
The framerate is very low. If you set Fraps to 30 frames per second but only get this output, then Fraps is trying to get 30 frames per second but can't because there simply isn't that many frames to grab. I suggest lowering your resolution to 1280x720 to see it that helps (less strain on your graphics card and less strain on your hard drive). Make sure the weapon you want to demonstrate is selected in backpack view. Take your time between transitions (especially the jarate/mad milk ones), and only do them if necessary (try your best to make it fit in one take). Don't forget to shoot the target at the back (only once, it's enough). The above applies to your previous videos as well, so yes, I'm afraid all of them will have to be redone :(

Now for weapon-specific things:

  • Jarate: Why headshot the medic and soldier?)
To show the non-stacking nature of crits and minicrits.
  • Gunboats: Rocket jump multiple times, from the same position to the same position
Fair enough.
  • Dalokohs: I suggest speeding up the 30 seconds instead of transitioning out
I was trying to indicate how long the buff lasts, and if there's no game clock we'll need an overlay to indicate the time. Is the speed up preferred just for matters of style? Neither conveys the passage of time accurately. Also, in the post-processing step of the main page it says not to mess with the speed of the videos.
  • Crit-A-Cola: Show the things using the Scattergun and against the Soldier. This way, there is more distance (and time, since rockets have travel time) for the viewer to realize what is going on.
The melée weapons have more reliable damage. I can run the attacks slower if you think that'd be better, but I really don't see the need for the scattergun and the RL.
  • Powerjack: Spy is visible
My bad
  • Shotgun videos: Good; they'll be concatenated without cutting any part of it (so yes, it will be a very long video). Add the audio track after concatenation, not before
Alright. There actually isn't an audio track that runs long enough for that unless each shotgun run can be done in 16 seconds (ha, I wish); cp_steel only runs 1:06. Ideas?
  • Frontier Justice should be done in one take; there's the plan of the video somewhere on that page~
Fair enough

I strongly suggest doing only one at a time until one of them is perfect; then it's okay to do them in bulk. Otherwise, lots of footage might go to waste :( Another thing: You have set your name to "Official Team Fortress Wiki". While this is not a requirement, feel free to use your own name, as it is a way to give you credit for making the video. This being said, you're also free to leave it as "Official Team Fortress Wiki" if you prefer~ — Wind 04:41, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Responses are in the sub-bullets. Also: I won't have free time to do this for at least a couple days, so don't let me stop anyone who wants to redo these. Armisael 15:02, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Bushwacka Demonstration

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F05RCdLBDeA&fmt=22 How's this? I was initially going to show off the Bushwacka with Jarate and the Sydney Sleeper in two seperate portions, but that ended up going over the one minute requirement. RagnarHomsar 01:13, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

In your inventory you have translucent tooltips (which makes me think you use frankenhud). Those can be removed by taking every file in tf\resource\ui (or better yet, throwing them in a storage folder). I don't know if that's a game breaker, but if you do redo it, that's something to watch for.
Ach, I thought I got rid of FrankenHUD when I was preparing to record the video. Shoulda redone it when I noticed it, but oh well. Here's a fixed version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47n_EYJTe6E&fmt=22 . RagnarHomsar 02:01, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Not sure if it's a requirement, but you didn't show the 20% fire vulnerability. I had an example in my Bushwacka video above. Again, not sure if it's a requirement. Fendermcbender 17:25, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Would be nice, yes, just like the Southern Hospitality demo — Wind 22:08, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Eyelander and Headtaker Demonstrations

According to the checklist, these haven't been done and I don't see a topic on it in here or the archive so here are my contributions (once they finish processing)

Eyelander after corrections: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfYnzD6qzsU&fmt=22

Headtaker after corrections: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKn3ljuDSyM&fmt=22 Final :l

Also, I've just noticed that in both, the Sticky Bomb launcher is out.. That would be because when I boot up the CFG, the number of stickybombs out changes to '%ACC' which I remove by shooting a sticky off to the side and detonating it.

That's happening to me as well in my default config. Anyone know why or have a solution?

Nice work, but just some things I noticed. The sound seems to be dull and quiet, I can barely hear the Pyro's muffles for example. Also you don't need to do to the taunt twice. Once is enough. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 03:09, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Please have the class hold the demonstrated weapon during the backpack view (applies to both videos); sound seems off-sync for the eyelander one at the beginning; framerate is quite choppy; have the mouse on the weapon slot when you start recording — Wind 23:06, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Gunboats

Here's a possible plan for the gunboats, but I won't be able to get to it till the weekend. Quantumkayos 21:32, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker

Hi, I plan on doing a demonstration for the headtaker, but my pc does not have the good enough specs to record and play on the required settings, I want to know if you can keep this weapon on reserve, I plan on getting a new pc for Christmas. Thanks. --DarkShard 00:17, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Let someone else do it, since you can't do anything to record for now. Shock394 00:47, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Joke on Project's Wiki Page

On the page about the Weapon Demonstration Project, someone has inserted a small inside joke into the page for careful readers (referencing an internet video about Super Smash Bros. -- cannot find link right now).

In the Requirements section, someone has written

"Having the item you want to demonstrate in either normal or vintage quality (no nametag, no description tag, no gifted weapons, no community weapon, final destination); you can edit your game files to give yourself the item (Golden Wrench for example)"

Even though (IMHO) the joke is funny and well-used, it probably violates the TF2 Wiki style guidelines and should be removed. However, I was wondering if the TF2 Wiki has a "Bad Jokes And Other Deleted Nonsense" (often shortened to "BJAODN") page or something similar (see Wikipedia's BJAODN pages for examples) where humorous content is preserved. Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion in BJAODN is "at least one Wikipedian found it funny." If the TF2 Wiki does not yet have some form of BJAODN page, I think that creating one would be a good idea: the TF2 community tends to have an excellent sense of humor, and I doubt this is an isolated instance. Having a place to preserve jokes like this would help maintain the style guidelines while still allowing the Wiki to have a sense of humor.

VNilla 21:43, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

This is a project page not a real article, and ifaik, the style guide doesn't really apply here. As for the BJAODN, here we have the Team Fortress Wiki:Trivia Wall of Shame, which showcases the strange, odd, and absurd trivia additions that people have added. Natemckn 21:50, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
I'm with Natemckn on this one. The page is meant as a means of organization and a way to simplify the division of labour. It is not the face of the Wiki and doesn't really need to be held to quite the same standard as article. It shouldn't look like total crap, but a small joke isn't exactly out of line. -- Alex2539 - (talk | contribs) -- 22:11, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Mad Milk

Mad Milk demonstration video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0MRbcOXABs --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ksakacep (talk) • (contribs)

This looks good, but it has no sound from the actual game, only music. It'd also be nice to show that teammates also get health somehow, for example by getting a friendly bot to be damaged and shoot a coated player. — Wind 23:06, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Grenade Launcher Demonstration

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygOAJ5v8qXI

I probably need to clean this up a little bit. Mainly removing the extra Grenade I launched at the Medic. Bferret 22:02, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Alright, lots of things here:
  • Video looks blurry and upscaled; did you record at a low resolution and stretch it to 1920x1080?
  • Video has no music
  • Demoman is not holding the grenade launcher in backpack view
  • On the HUD, the sticky counter is overlapping the grenade ammo count for some reason
  • Video needs to demonstrate that grenades can bounce and roll, and still do damage when exploding (so don't do only direct hits)
  • Didn't reload at the end

A good attempt though~ — Wind 23:06, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

I will roll them towards the medic and add music.

I run the game at 1920 x 1080 and record at max quality and 60FPS in Fraps. I will fix these issues today or tomorrow for you. Bferret 23:11, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Also, is that a custom kill feed I see? I can't be all too sure. If it is, please switch to the default HUD when recording this. Thanks. :) -The Neotank ( | Talk) User The Neotank Signeotank.gif 23:26, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

It shouldn't be but I can reset my TF2 to defaults and see how that goes. Bferret 17:57, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
