Disguise Kit
This one seems rather involved. I'll reserve it, but could somebody please outline exactly what I need to record for it? There seems to be a lot. Bonzi77 23:21, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- There are a lot of ways this could be done, but here is what I'm thinking: Split screen, one side is the spy first person, the other is an enemy first person looking at him, quickly cycle through some disguises then attack to lose the disguise. Then maybe fade to black and come back with the one screen being and enemy engineer first person, demonstrate that you can take enemy teleporters and not being targeted by sentries. I think thats everything, but like I said there are a lot of ways to do this. Good luck Natemckn 23:40, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- Also need to demonstrate that you can disguise as a friendly (and that disguising as friendly spy = lose disguise), and the two Disguise Kit taunts. This can be done in one take with the sentry built on the other side of the fence or something~ — Wind 23:44, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- Anything else to note? I really don't want to miss anything.Bonzi77 21:22, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
- I dunno, to be honest. Do that, and let's see how it goes; it likely won't be perfect on the first try for such a complex weapon — Wind 21:24, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
Whew, okay. So, I tried to do this, but fraps totally slows up everything... and costs money... So I don't think this is going to happen. :( Bonzi77 19:04, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
Just a suggestion: possibly also show the difference between disguising then cloaking and cloaking then disguising. I'd take a crack at this, but I don't have any editing software capable of splitscreening. — MafiaGuy7 1:54, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
HHHH, Homewrecker and Telefrag
So, I made some demonstrations as well:
Please tell me what can I improve, and I'll try to do it right away. mcComBat (t • s) 15:05, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- The HHH should probably show the speed increase somehow. It should also show the cap at 4 heads.
- The homewrecker should show you attacking an enemy building.
- The telefrag video should probably show that telefrags can kill ubered players.
Just my two cents. Armisael 16:26, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- That's a good start~
- Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker: Good, but like the Eyelander, it should also show the 4-heads cap on the health increase effect. Also, Demoman is not holding the weapon in the backpack view
- Homewrecker: Good as well, but needs to show additional damage against enemy buildings too (have an engy bot build something). Also, Pyro is not holding the weapon in backpack view
- Telefrag: Good idea, but not really easy to follow. I suggest using a third-person perspective for this one, and doing it more slowly. Or perhaps using a spectator camera to show what happens, and doing a picture-in-picture thing like the Razorback one~
Edit: Damn, Armisael beat me to it — Wind 16:29, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, Thanks for the tips guys! I'll start working on that :) mcComBat (t • s) 18:23, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Also, a question, to show the cap on the HHHH do I need to kill 5 bots? Or is there some other idea on how to demonstrate this? mcComBat (t • s) 18:39, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, kill 5 bots (and not the Spy, preferably). — Wind 18:40, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Take 2 for the HHHH:
- I already have new ideas for the homewrecker and telefrag, but i'll do them tomorrow.. it's pretty late here.
- Also, does somebody work on the eyelander? If not I could do it too, it's pretty much the same as HHHH. mcComBat (t • s) 21:16, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Very good, please upload the original and it'll be uploaded on the official channel. Only thing I can say abotu it is that it uses a minute-long song for a 30-second video (would be better with a ~37 seconds song), but that's very minor and no song will fit anyway so it's alright. Go ahead for the Eyelander, if you're first then it's okay, hehe — Wind 23:33, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Ok :P I made the Eyelander:
- Here's the HHHH:
- If the Eyelander is ok you can download it from the same megafire folder. I'll make the tele and homewrecker a bit later. mcComBat (t • s) 14:19, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- Eyelander is not OK because the sticky counter says "%A" D: — Wind 19:37, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
- Here, new Eyelander:
- That's good, please upload original~ — Wind 18:42, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- Uploaded :)
- It's in the same folder as the HHHH (http://www.mediafire.com/?w9m6ml7ugiwcm). mcComBat (t • s) 22:21, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- That's good, please upload original~ — Wind 18:42, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- New Homewrecker:
- It's already in the folder in case it's good enough. mcComBat (t • s) 21:29, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
- Two things: (Minor) You should try having the RED Engineer not hold his toolbox, and (Major) Take your tiiiime, this is way too fast. Don't hammer things so fast, don't run this quickly, etc. — Wind 21:42, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
- One thing to add: Make sure its a fully constructed sentry that you are demonstrating. Maybe even have one sentry of each level to show how many hits for each. I'm not sure how this would be set up though. Natemckn 21:46, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
Knife
Noticed that nobody has done the stock knife yet.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_S4G-2eg7g
Used the supplied weaponref config with the exception of tf_weapon_criticals being set to 1 (so that the backstab animation actually plays).
Feedback welcome. Also, the source video file looks much better than the upload; this was the best I could make it with Premiere Pro (complete youtube + video newb). --I-ghost 21:34, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- It's okay to turn on critical hits for this one, yes. However, this does look kinda bad: It is double-letterboxed (black borders around all sides), not HD, and it looks slowed down for some reason (the Spy takes a while to raise his arm up). Content-wise, however, it looks fine, except two things: In the backpack view, the "Misc 2" slot looks active for some reason (probably a UI glitch, but it shouldn't show up), and you shouldn't taunt at the end (end the recording right after the tauntkill). That's it~ — Wind 23:33, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

- Not bad, not bad :3 I see you figured out how to make him cloak... Anyway, few things to fix:
- The bots must be in the exact same position when you fire with the Bat/Scattergun for the second time, otherwise damage values aren't the same.
- No need to use so many fades; the more that can be done in one take, the better (unless it makes the video too long, which probably will be a problem for this video). For example, the 4 first shots (bat+scattergun) plus the spy cloak thing should be in one take~
- The fire extinguishing effect is better shown when extinguishing a bot, as shown in Jarate.
- The video also needs to demonstrate that teammates can get healed too. I suggest you get a friendly bot to be damaged, then throw milk at some enemy bot in front of him, then have him fire and keep your cursor on him all the time to show that his health regenerates
That should be it~ Don't worry too much about video duration, as it will probably be quite long for this one — Wind 08:19, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
The Entire "Hibernating Bear" Item Set + Ullapool Caber
The Hibernating Bear
- Brass Beast - View link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0BlWsqUFtM Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?a5c1vejlj0kg33s
- Buffalo Steak Sandvich - (This one had to be done in two versions. The first version features the standard timeline of weapon demos, however at the end, i used MOUSE2 to throw the item. It is currently bugged because when you do this, a sandvich is seen flying to the floor instead of the B.S.S. The second version has a taunt at the end, which is a bit redundant as it is already shown in the beginning)

Notes I'm glad i was able to do this in between all the hectic-ness around TF2 and the Wiki itself, but right now i'm going for the night. Hopefully i'll finish the Mad Milk demo as well sometime soon, along with maybe a few other demonstrations for the easier-to-do new weapons. ALSO: The new weapons need to be added to the bottom section of the project page, i was meaning to do it today but lost track of time.Kryzoid 09:46, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- That's a big bunch~
- Brass Beast: Good but audio glitched at 0:25
- Buffalo Steak Sandvich: I think the Sandvich thing is going to get removed soon anyway, so the taunt version is better. It's also better because it shows that it does not heal. However, both videos go quite fast :( Slow down between actions a bit~
- Warrior's Spirit: Good, please upload~
- Ullapool Caber: Good, please upload~
(The "please upload" part is for a certain helpful chap who's got access to the channel and to unlimited bandwidth) — Wind 09:54, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- A bit better? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKHEqXECbCE http://www.mediafire.com/?tw8nd8xvqnk5pvg Also, i couldn't fix the Brass Beast problem, sound glitches no matter what i do, i'll leave that demonstration for someone else to do. Kryzoid 20:50, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- The Warrior's Spirit is uploaded but should be redone because the spy is showing. The Ullapool Caber and the Steak will both be live shortly Natemckn 22:47, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- I'm just curious to why it matters at all if there's a little glance of the spy? Annephrank 00:48, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
- It doesn't, that's why the video has been accepted and uploaded. However, for the sake of consistency, if someone does a video of this weapon with all the same good stuff but without the Spy showing, that video will replace the current one. That's all it means~ It's not a big issue at all. — Wind 00:53, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Fists of Steel
Since these videos don't take up too much time and I'm staying at home sick, I guess I can tackle this one after the Candy Cane. I'd like to reserve it and get any specific details, like how should I demonstrate it's attributes. Time to brainstorm! Elpacho 00:17, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
Do the normal damage testing, then teleport the pyro and the soldier back. Do a melee exchange with the pyro and have the soldier shoot you with a rocket (be sure to heal in between). If you can, run the two exchanges split screen so that the differences are obvious. Armisael 23:21, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
The Back Scratcher
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMQqg36NvMM Not done processing, but I'm going to sleep now. If there are any problems I'll try to fix them tomorrow. [L4G] Zook 06:47, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
- A few things: 1) You're gonna need to demonstrate both healing effects that the back scratcher does, so you're gonna need a medic and health packs to show the altered stats there. How you do that is up to you. 2) Try not to miss. You miss multiple attacks. 3) You aren't using the custom HudDamageAccount.res which makes the damage numbers big and yellow. 4) Don't show the spy unless you are taunt killing him, which you aren't in this video, so don't show him at all. 5) After killing the pyro, theres no reason to stare at his dead body (this one isn't that important, it just bothered me a tad). If I see anything else, I'll add it to this post Natemckn 13:49, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKrCxGQ6Uhg [L4G] Zook 01:11, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
- Better, but quite some other things:
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKrCxGQ6Uhg [L4G] Zook 01:11, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
- Medic bot should be called "Friendly Medic" preferably (not a hard rule but if you're doing it again, it'd be nice)
- Cut the portion at the beginning where your mouse isn't hovering anything (first frame of the video should be showing the info box)
- Framerate is low: Look at the rake swinging, it feels glitchy and slow (are you rendering using Source Recorder? Did you adjust host_framerate?)
- No need to demonstrate healing effects twice. I realize that you are doing it two times to show that the attribute is still active while another weapon is held, but you can simply do it by holding the other weapon only; it should be enough (and use the Flamethrower as other weapon, preferably, because you know, it's the Pyro's main and iconic weapon). I agree that it's not a comprehensive demonstration if it doesn't show with both weapons, but the video is quite long as it is so this can be cut.
- Spawn the bot and the health kits before recording, so no time is spent spawning them during the recording
- There's a long stare before taunting for some reason
- If, by cutting those extra things and reducing delays, you can get the video under a minute, pick a song that spans the whole video. If not, that's okay, and simply repeat songs like you did (but preferably not the same one over and over)

Brass Beast & Loch-N-Load Demonstrations
Blip.tv's being a pain, so until the videos are done uploading there, here are the files for download: http://www.mediafire.com/?4t72yirjx7dvv88 --Akuago220, The Jungle Expeditioner 03:42, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
- When you go from the equip screen to the beginning of the video, instead of using a fade, you should click the close button so it looks more like in game. Besisdes that the LnL video is almost pefect, but the video cuts off a tad too soon at the end. Make sure you're back into first person view after the taunt before cutting the video. The Brass beast video you need to demonstrate the slowdown while spun up. and while shooting your muzzle flash glitches through the wall, so take a step back so that doesnt happen. Fix those minor issues and I think you're good. Natemckn 22:02, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
Flamethower (again)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcmD2vW79-E Good now? I'm getting back to the videos. -- Swordz (talk | contribs) 17:19, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
- Looks good, but some parts feel too rushed, in my opinion. Also,
- It would be nice to show the flamethrower's ability to ignite cloaked and invisible spies.
- A good idea would be to show the pyro reflecting different projectiles, particularly that reflected grenades change color, reflected black box rockets heal you, reflected jarate/milk coats enemies, etc. I'm not sure how many different types of projectiles are needed for a demonstration video, as it'll take pretty long to show them all, even omitting the non-interesting ones.
- A non-obvious feature to show would be that you can ignite the sniper's arrows. Since bots can't equip unlocks, I can help you with that, by playing an enemy sniper. :) Same thing with reflecting projectiles. I can also help with editing the videos. Zhnigo 01:02, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
- Oh sorry Swordz, didn't see that one... Anyway yes, the comment on the video and Zhnigo bring the good point of demonstrating igniting cloaked spies. I don't think it's necessary to show reflection of all projectiles, but I suppose things like pushing stickies wouldn't hurt. Igniting arrows is a bit hard to demonstrate, but if you can, it'd be pretty awesome.
That weapon is a lot more complex than it looks, heh~ (Little detail: Name the BLU spy "Friendly Spy") — Wind 01:18, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
- By the way, in your video all the bots attack simultaneously. You can prevent that by using the console command "bot_forcefireweapon (weapon name)", namely "bot_forcefireweapon tf_weapon_rocketlauncher" and "bot_forcefireweapon tf_weapon_flamethrower". - Zhnigo 01:20, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
Backburner, Brass Beast, Jag, Loch-N-Load, and Darwin's Danger Shield
Comments: Jag: I figured that running the two teleports at the same time would be the best way to demonstrate the acceleration. If you feel that one should be done with the Jag and one with the regular wrench, I understand, but won't be able to help (limited video editing software).
Loch-N-Load: I take splash at the beginning, when I'm not trying to demonstrate the increased splash. The splash fills the entire box.
DDS: I didn't have a bot with the DH (imagine that), so I went with the shotgun. It's a similar effect, but it may not be quite as demonstrative as you wanted. I could have the pyro melee me and the bot, if you would prefer that.
Golden Wrench: The golden wrench doesn't have a number, like a real one would. This is because I don't have one (wouldn't that be nice). Armisael 22:08, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
- Backburner: Need to show that if you start crits by burning the back, afterburn damage doesn't crit
- Brass Beast: You had a domination message. This should never happen if you reload the config before doing the demo
- Jag: Hands are stuck... The Engineer should swing his wrench against his hands, like all other wrenches. That animation glitch happens sometimes. I'd hold off on that demonstration anyway, the additional build speed seems to be off and may be changed soon.
- Loch-N-Load: Take full splash damage at the beginning, it saves time and prevents having to kill the Pyro twice. Also demonstrate that grenades don't bounce and don't have splash damage.
- Darwin's Danger Shield: Not a bad idea, but here's an idea to make it a bit better:
- Switch to third person view
- Move somewhere in the middle (divided in two lanes)
- Have two Soldiers (one per lane), one shooting at you and one shooting at the Sniper bot (which should be named "Friendly Sniper")
- Record a demo of the thing, then play back the demo and put the camera in a position where you see both Snipers equally (one on the left half of the screen, one on the right)
- (Don't taunt, the Darwin's Danger Shield has no taunt)
- Boston Basher: Show that you can jump higher by hitting yourself, and that you can die by it too
- Wrench: For demonstrating building construction speed, I suggest having two Engineers (one bot, one you) and having them build a Dispenser or a Sentry Gun side by side, like the Darwin's Danger Shield
- Golden Wrench: The model in the backpack view is the regular wrench D: Also, corpses look like... chocolate or something. Did they change the texture? Try upping the graphics a bit. Lastly, spawn a fourth bot so that the Engineer may play his 4 unique Golden Wrench lines. Players don't get to hear them very often, so it'd be nice to have them all.
- All demonstrations: Framerate and graphics seem a bit low compared to your previous demonstrations. Did you change computers? >: Also, please don't hide the mouse in backpack view. I know it's hidden in previous demos, but don't do it on future recordings if possible for more consistency. Not a big issue, but yeah.
Lastly, all of these weapons are soon going to have new killicons (at least, I assume); demos will have to be redone then. — Wind 00:20, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
- General points:
- Same computer. I dunno.
- FRAPS hides the mouse my default. I'll go ahead and unhide it.
- Weapons without killicons:Fair enough. Their stats are probably going to be shifting to, so those can wait.
- Backburner: Fair enough.
- Darwin:
- The problem is that one rocket isn't enough to kill either sniper, but two will kill both. I'm working with bots, so if this will require the DH, then I'm not going to be much use.
- I taunted to show what the darwin danger shield looks like, since it's not actually visible at any earlier point in the video.
- Wrench: I suppose that works. I though that the two parts of the teleport would do the job just as well (since the point is to show one of them not being hit), but whatever.\
- Golden wrench: I had all the texture altering graphics settings all the way up. Either they changed the texture, or my computer just won't do the job.
- Anyways, I'm out on holiday travel until after the new year, so if anyone else wants to do these, please, go ahead.
- General points:
Armisael 15:20, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
- Darwin's Danger Shield: That's why using a third-person camera would help, and alleviate the need to taunt; see Razorback
- Wrench: The thing with two teleporters is that they're not built at exactly the same time, and it's not exactly the same building, so a newbie might simply think that they don't build at the same speed in the first place, and that the Wrench doesn't affect anything at all
— Wind 21:34, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
Also, I cranked all my graphics settings all the way, and I was still getting the chocolaty textures and the non-golden wrench in the backpack view. I think that that's just the way the golden wrench is; someone else should try it to confirm. Armisael 15:22, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Will re-do Natasha, Rocket Launcher, and Shortstop
Hey, I'll work on making these remakes after I look over all of the guidelines and directions, may need a little instruction on doing a couple things asked in directions, but I'll probably be fine--Karonen 22:56, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, would someone post some directions on my talk page on how to get some bots to move for my demonstration video?
Chargin' Targe
I'm thinking of demonstrating these abilities, filmed with appropriate cuts to allow the meter to recharge:
- Naturally, the ability to dash. I'm planning to use a bottle, as it's the default demo melee weapon, any objections?
- No crit from short distance, mini-crit from medium distance and a full crit from a full distance shown separately.
- Targe bash. Might demonstrate this and a full crit simultaneously.
- Resistance to fire and explosions (by having a demoman bot with a stickylauncher out get killed off by a pyro and a soldier, then survivng the same attacks).
Some less-obvious things to show - please choose what to include and what to omit, as adding them all will greatly increase the video length. Some can be combined with others:
- The ability to slightly turn while charging.
- The ability to charge with the grenade launcher out (without being able to shoot).
- Prolonged charge duration with a Claidheamh Mor.
- Reduced charge speed with a Skullcutter.
- No resistance to own explosions. (How do I show that obviosly enough?)
- Increased Targe bash damage with every head taken (up to 5).
Also, my targe is vintage, is that acceptable? I'll try to acquire a common one for a cleaner look. - Zhnigo 18:09, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
- Use all stock weapons except the targe.
- Ability to turn: You can show that during any charge really
- Ability to charge with the grenade launcher out: You can also show that in any charge, and then demonstrate that you can switch weapon while charging
- Prolonged charge duration with a Claidheamh Mor: No, that's part of the Claidheamh Mor demo.
- Reduced charge speed with a Skullcutter: Same
- No resistance to own explosions: Not sure that's worth demonstrating nor obvious indeed, so no
- Increased Targe bash damage with every head taken (up to 5): If possible, but not all 5 possibilities (only 0 and 5 heads probably)
Vintage weapons are accepted without any "discrimination", so please use whichever one you like — Wind 00:27, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
The first version. I was in a hurry, so I forgot to add fades to the second half of the video. Also, the friendly demo doesn't have his sticky launcher out. I'll fix both. Anything else aside from that? Zhnigo 03:53, 28 December 2010 (UTC) Two things:
- Please not be in a hurry (this also applies to the video, please take your time. I know you're going fast to stay under the 1 minute limit, but don't try so hard, do take longer pauses before and after charges)
- Chat text visible at 0:30
- Do things in the "natural" order: Charges are the primary function of the Chargin' Targe, so they should be demonstrated before effects like fire/explosive resistance
— Wind 05:51, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- I am very sorry for the delay. So the bottle charges go first, the damage resistance footages go last, but should I put the grenade launcher charge footage before or after the eyelander charge? - Zhnigo 03:30, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
The second version. :) - Zhnigo 17:10, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
Trouble getting the map properly downloaded
I think I may be doing something wrong when I try to download the target map for making the video. I save the link provided in maps, and saved the weaponsref thing as a text file. Was I not supposed to do that? I know I made a mistake somewhere, but I just need someone to point out where.--Karonen 06:04, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
- Did you unrar the map file (so that you get tr_weaponref.bsp)? The weaponref file is meant to be saved as weaponref.cfg file, and the HudDamageAccount file is supposed to be saved as HudDamageAccount.res. — Wind 07:56, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
The Brass Beast
This is my first go at a demonstration video. I noticed The Brass Beast didn't have a video yet, and it seemed like a relatively easy weapon to showcase, so that's what I ended up choosing. Let me know what needs improving.

- Very good for a first attempt, but...
- Colors look washed out (use another codec (x264vfw) or change your color settings)
- Don't rotate the model in backpack view
- OH GOD THE CLIPPING ERRORS WHILE TAUNTING THEY'RE HORRIBLE (just kidding, they're Valve laziness's fault)
I like how you wait until the spindown is finished completely; however, you can start re-spinning up before the gun is completely non-spinning, so don't wait that much or people might think you really need to wait that much. The Claidheamh Mòr
This is my first submission. The first part is the usual killing all the enemies, the second part is a comparison between the Charge n Targe length of the Bottle and the Claidheamh Mòr.

- %A on sticky counter and don't taunt if there's no taunt. Shock394 19:39, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
- Also, the spy is visible. Shock394 19:41, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
- Quite a lot of things D:
- Resolution is too low (not 720p, and even the current resolution looks upscaled)
- Framerate is too low (video not smooth)
- Audio quality is poor (fizzzzz in audio, clipping, volume too low)
- (%A visible, spy visible, and don't taunt, as Shock394 said)
The Charge idea comparison is good though~ — Wind 21:11, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
Alright I redone it. Hopefully this one works better, tell me if anything else needs to be fixed.

- You still have problems on visual(fuzzy on HD) and audio (low volume), did you just modify the video instead of doing it again? Shock394 22:34, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
I remade it. I didn't just edit the original. I can try to fix these. --DarkShard 22:58, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
- Before I go on to fix the remaining problems, If I edit the game volume in the Audio tab in options, will that interfere with sound? So you don't hear that fizzz sound coming from the map. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by DarkShard (talk) • (contribs)
- Better, but the framerate is still low (video is not smooth D:...), audio still fizzes for some reason, and antialiasing seems to be off. I don't know why that fizz is there (are you putting your microphone in front of your speakers and recording from that? lol), so play with the sound options and see what works. — Wind 23:29, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
- If possible, can you keep this weapon on reserve? Thanks. --DarkShard 00:30, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Might I make a suggestion? You way want to adjust the begginning position of your bottle charge so it'll stop at one of the yellow and black markers on the floor, then initate a Claidheamoh Mor charge from the same starting position and overshoot the marker (and then turn around and look at it). This way, the increased distance of the Claidheamh Mor charge will be easier to visually judge. :) You can use the "status" console command to accurately pinpoint your current position in X, Y and Z. - Zhnigo 00:46, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
I finally fixed the audio!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Th-08iqPtAc
As for the FPS, I think it looks a bit better, but does It have to be perfect as if you were playing on a super computer? The requirements state more than 30 frames, that looks like more than 30 frames to me. --DarkShard 01:54, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- Audio is good~ (What did you change? In case others have the same problem) But for the frames per second, this definitely isn't 30 frames per second :( Compare http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rv5gEkcZr9o and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Th-08iqPtAc ; doesn't one feel a lot smoother than the other? (Hint: if it doesn't, your computer can't play the smoother one at 30 frames per second in the first place) — Wind 02:00, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
How I fixed the audio: I use Realtek drivers, and there is an option in the Realtek Audio Manager which enables Dolby Audio Enhancer, "Adding clarity to your highs while extending up to an octave of extra bass" It turns out this was the problem and so I disabled the Audio Enhancer. As for the FPS, I did see a difference in the videos, I will try to fix it. Thanks. --DarkShard 12:51, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- Question:What did you use to record it? There maybe a problem with the recorder you're using. Shock394 16:52, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- I used FRAPS. If your curious about my specs, here they are:
- Toshiba Satellite L675D
- AMD Phenom II N640 Dual-Core 2.90 Ghz
- 4.00 GB of RAM
- ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
Hopefully these can do If I find a solution. --DarkShard 21:40, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- I was only hoping for the program you are recording, is it full version or downloaded (can only record for up to 30 sec)? Shock394 22:07, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- It is the full version. --DarkShard 23:17, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- Try using a different recorder. Shock394 03:44, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

- Framerate is a bit low D: Also needs to demonstrate full-immobilization if hit from a large distance. Only the Spy should be used for tauntkills (move him if you need to show that it throws people away) — Wind 07:16, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- Take 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SB-tUECA2Cw
- Framerate upped to 60fps, and I altered the general format of the demonstration as well. The first part demonstrates a simple melee kill with the bat, a short stun and then being killed by the ball. I chose to break the long range Medic stun and the Spy taunt kill up into separate sequences. I've left a few of the scenes run a little too long towards the end which I'll fix up and re-export soon, however, I wanted to see if the overall demonstration setup is okay. seb26 [talk] 09:15, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
Huntsman
I've seen the weapon demonstration video for the huntsman, but I think it's redone. I think it's good that they included the bodyshot, headshots (charged and uncharged), how long until the "shaking" starts, as well as the taunt kill. However, they missed out two things: how the arrow pins ragdolls to the wall, and how friendly Pyros can light up friendly arrows and set fire to enemies on hit. The former one, I think it can be optional to show, as it's purely cosmetic, but the latter one is not shown in the video, and it's an important feature,so I think the video has to be redone. I actually commented on the video about this, but apparently no one listens to me there so I posted this here again. TFHK 02:14, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Then again, on second thought, if you wanted to show how far the ragdoll flies with the Sandman taunt (which is also purely cosmetic), maybe you should include the ragdoll being pinned to a nearby wall by an arrow, for that matter. TFHK 04:26, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- You make a very good point. Thanks for bringing this up. I went ahead and marked the huntsman to be redone Natemckn 05:07, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

YouTube Partnership?
If the TF2 Wiki YouTube channel decides to go onto the Partnership program, what will happen to all the video contributors? Corkscrew 03:48, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- We asked Robin about the Partnership program already (unrelated to weapon demonstrations) and he said no, because that would be making money of Valve's back. Mistakenly, Pilk did enable the account for revenue sharing, but the money isn't going anywhere and we currently have a ticket open to YouTube support about disabling that (except that it seems YouTube isn't bothering). In any case, no one will get paid here, staff included — Wind 05:11, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Another batch to be critiqued
Note: These videos were improperly encoded.
Also: I ran through the golden wrench with the graphics cranked all the way (obviously couldn't record at any decent framerate), and still got the chocolate textures and non-golden backpack wrench. Somone should check to verify, but I suspect that the those are the textures. If not, there's nothing I can do.
- Crusader's Crossbow: Differentiate bodyshots and headshots more clearly (aim at their nuts) to demonstrate non-headshot-i-ness; also try to demonstrate the heal points based on target distance a little more clearly (see the current demo), by damaging the heavy a bit more.
- Sydney Sleeper: Also differentiate headshots from bodyshots a lot more clear than this; for example, at 0:21, you aim for the Soldier's head and keep charging on the head, yet right when shooting you put the rifle down and do a neck-shot. Either aim at their head or at their lower torso, but not in between and don't change your aim in the middle of it, preferably. Also show a fully-charged jarate'd shot~
- All other demos are good, please keep up the good work :3 — Wind 20:45, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- Do you record with some weird codec or something? The colors in your videos seems strange, like, the blu and red are stronger and the skin color in darker/messed up. Compare to other videos and you will now what i say. Maybe it's just my monitor -- Swordz (talk | contribs) 20:51, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, the colors are a bit contrast-y, especially in the Backburner one if anything. Not a big issue, but if you've got the original video files, you might wanna reencode them some other way~ — Wind 20:53, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- Fair enough about the headshots. I'm using the windows movie maker 2006 720p codec, so nothing strikingly unusual. Its the way that all of the videos I've submitted have looked, so I guess it's your call. I do have all the unencoded files if redoing them is necessary. Armisael 21:20, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- Please try encoding them with x264vfw as recommended. — Wind 21:24, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately, the files were deleted in a routine system cleanup. I apologize. This is the best you're going to get from me. I'll put a note by the video for ctrl-f people. Armisael 12:48, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well, they've been uploaded anyway thanks to Natemckn. They're fine, just use x264vfw next time and if all weapons are done eventually, you might come back to those — Wind 21:31, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Telefrag
Not sure how to show this, but here. I can make some changes if I can. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuvauuCvn6E
Sokair 21:48, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
- For instructions, ctrl+F "telefrag" on this page, there is already a section about it. In short, it'd be nice to have a third-person camera so that the player understands better what happens; furthermore, maybe it'd be interesting to demonstrate that it can kill Ubered players too.
- This being said, there's a lot of technical details to fix with the video before:
- Uses DirectX 8
- Not HD
- Double-letterbox (there are black borders on all sides of the video)
- No music
- Uses non-default HUD (has "-1000" written in red at 0:33)
- Please make sure you can fix these details before reserving videos~ Thanks — Wind 22:00, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
- Maybe lower FOV (Spaced area on right arm.) Shock394 00:10, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
Invis Watch , Cloak & Dagger and Enthusiast's Timepiece
I'll go ahead and reserve these, and I'll start working now.
I was thinking for C&D I'd walk around to show the decrease, stand still for regen and for the Invis watch and Timepiece I'd cloak, move around, decloak and pick up ammo, as well as bump into people. Srs Bsnss 13:59, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
Medi Gun
Looks pretty easy. Might need a first and third-person view. Glad to help! FireFox238 04:08, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Back Scratcher Demonstration
My first attempt xD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inS4VG9OE4E I noticed no one had done the back scratcher yet so. here it is :) {{subst:void|This template should always be substituted. Please change {{Unsigned}} to {{subst:Unsigned}}}}— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jerico55 (talk) • (contribs) 2024-12-30, 01:40 UTC
- OK, not bad for a first attempt, but there are quite a few things that need fixing:
- It is not HD and 16:9. Make sure to record at a 16:9 resolution greater than or equal to 1280x720.
- Don't kill the spy. They spy is only there for taunt kills. Since you cannot taunt kill with the rake, the spy should not be in the video at all.
- Start recording with your mouseover the weapon. You started with the mouse centered, then moved to mouseover it.
- You need to demonstrate the healing effects of the backscratcher. You're going to need to spawn a health kit and a friendly medic, then take some damage and show how each heal you.
- I am watching it with no audio, because I am at work, so I cannot comment on if you did the music correctly. Also, please create new topics at the bottom of the talk page, and sign your posts by putting ~~~~ at the end. Natemckn 15:14, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
