The Mercenary (previously known as Weekend warrior) is a miscellaneous medal awarded by Valve to the Team Fortress 2 Community as part of their 119th Update Celebration. It appears as a rectangular bronze medal worn on the class's chest, not unlike the Gentle manne's service medal. The Mercenary medal is awarded to players who purchased and played Team Fortress 2 more than a year after its initial release.

Notes

• The Mercenary, along with the Grizzled veteran and Soldier of fortune medals, were the first Miscellaneous items to be available to all 9 classes.
• The class symbol on the medals reflects the class wearing it.
• This item is given out to users who first played Team Fortress 2 from 00:00 October 10, 2008 (UTC) to 19:12 June 19, 2024 (UTC).
• This item was originally named the "Weekend Warrior", it was later renamed "Mercenary."
• For a brief period of time after this renaming, the item still showed "Weekend warrior." The item has subsequently been changed to display "Mercenary."
