The Sole Mate is a community-created cosmetic item for the Pyro. It is a green fish that is positioned on top of the Pyro's head with its mouth closed around it, as if it is trying to eat the Pyro's head. The tail and back of the fish jiggle with the Pyro's movements.
When players equipped with this item kill an enemy unassisted by another player, the killfeed shows everyone in Pyroland that it gets the assist, with its custom name if it has one.
The Sole Mate was contributed to the Steam Workshop.
