Ellis' Cap is a new unlockable headwear item. It's a reference to the hat worn by Ellis, a character from Valve's zombie shooter franchise, Left 4 Dead 2. It is still unknown how this hat is obtained, but it is very possible that it will be unlocked when obtaining an achievement, like the Alien Swarm Parasite, but in Left 4 Dead 2 and related to The Sacrifice DLC. However, none of the announced achievements mentioned hats at all.
Trivia
- This is the second Left 4 Dead related hat in Team Fortress 2 that is available for all classes, the first being Bill's Hat.
- According to The Sacrifice's update page,there was a skeleton on the bottom left of the screen is seen wearing the Ellis Cap, hinting it may be awarded to those who play the DLC. The Sacrifice's Update Page
- "In the first Left 4 Dead 2 trailer, the attack sound uses the same audio attack from Team Fortress 2, a metal ding sound. The sound files have since been changed to fit the wooden properties of the bat." So perhaps the hat could be obtained by playing as Ellis and using only the baseball bat weapon.
