The Safe'n'Sound is a headwear item available for the Engineer. It appears as a pair of team-colored ear defenders, likely to protect him from the racket of building items from metal or from gunshots.
Trivia
- This headwear item is most notably worn by construction workers who use jackhammers to protect their ears from the noise. Construction workers also wear these above or inside their hardhats; the Engineer, however, does not. Aircraft carrier flight deck personnel also wear large noise reducing headphones to shield their ears from fighter jet engines.
- Having the item worn underneath the hat was contemplated by the creator Konras,[1] however, was scrapped due to the similarities it would have had to the Engineer's Mining Light.
- The name is possibly a reference to the Soldier's line in Meet the Spy.

- Though the Safe'n'Sound is a pair of ear defenders, it does not have any effect on in-game sounds or music.
