The Pyro

The Whiskered Gentleman is a community-created Miscellaneous item for the Pyro and was chosen by Valve to be released with the second wave of community-contributed content due to its outstanding quality. It appears as a monocle, fake mustache and goatee that the Pyro has taped onto its mask.

Trivia

  • The Whiskered Gentleman was originally a hat on release. This was changed to a Miscellaneous item the next day to suit combinations with hats.
  • Like anything else the Pyro wears, the facial hair is extremely fire retardant, and does not burn.
  • The hat's addition is likely an attempt by Valve to further confuse the player over the Pyro's gender as it portrays the character to be male. This conflicts with him/her owning a purse in the spawn room's locker and the overtly feminine humiliation stance.
  • The item description was written by JJ10DMAN.
  • By combining the said Misc. Item with the Towering Pillar of Hats... The Pyro Looks ready to spend the night drinking Tea with his good friend... The Spy
  • Looks particularly of Mexican heritage when combined with the Old Guadalajara, the Pyro's Sombrero hat released with the Polycount Pack.
