The Blighted Beak is a community-created miscellaneous item for the Medic and was released as a part of the Australian Christmas update. It appears as a bird-like mask that is styled directly after the primitive respirators historically worn by Template:W.
Previous changes
- The item is added to the Mann Co. Store, made craftable, and included in random drops.
- The Blighted Beak is now a misc item.
Notes
Blighted Beak has major clipping issues with the following hats:[1]
- Otolaryngologist's Mirror
- Vintage Tyrolean
- Berliner's Bucket Helm
- Spine-Chilling Skull
- Voodoo Juju
- Saxton Hale Mask
- Wiki Cap
Though a fix for the clipping of a majority of the hats has been sent to Valve in hopes that it will solve the problem.
Trivia
- During the Black Plague, doctors wore beak-like masks stuffed with flowers and spices to ward off terrible smells. It was believed that these foul odors were the cause of infection.
- The mask, unlike a Plague doctor's mask, does not cover the full face, and upon closer inspection it can be seen that the nose does not have a bottom part (where the flowers and spices would be), making it more akin to a masquerade mask then a plague mask.
