The Modest Pile of Hat is an unlockable headwear item for all Classes. It appears as a single gray bowler hat, not unlike the Spy's Backbiter's Billycock. However, the Modest Pile of Hat is not team-colored, has a thicker rim than the Billycock, and the colors of the two hatbands are visibly different.
The hat description was written by Fredrik1ST and has been slightly edited by Valve.

- Since this hat and its cousins (the Noble Amassment of Hats and the Towering Pillar of Hats) have no class requirement, they cannot be purposefully crafted. As such, they are a bit rarer than the craftable class-specific hats.
