The Treasure Hat is a promotional headwear item for Team Fortress 2 that is awarded to players who complete 15 out of 28 objectives in The Great Steam Treasure Hunt. It appears as a worn-out tricorne hat with a gold-filled open treasure chest on top of it that spills out coins as the player moves.
Users who complete the required number of Treasure Hunt objectives must go to the promotion page and click the "Unlock Hat" button to have the hat added to their backpack. If the player already owns the Bounty Hat, it will then be upgraded to the Treasure Hat. Note that the Bounty Hat will not automatically change to the Treasure Hat, the hat must be claimed again at the promotion page to have it change. Likewise, when the user obtains all 28 Treasure Hunt achievements, the Treasure Hat can be further upgraded to the Hat of Undeniable Wealth And Respect.
