The Tippler's Tricorne is an community-created headwear item for the Demoman and was chosen by Valve to be released with the second wave of community-contributed content due to its outstanding quality. It appears as a broad, three-cornered hat with turned up brims.
Trivia
- This hat was in fashion during the late 17th century and 18th century, falling out of style shortly before the French Revolution. At the peak of its popularity, the tricorne was worn as civilian dress and as part of military and naval uniforms.
- This hat is commonly associated with pirates, who commonly wear eyepatches, much like the Demoman himself.
- A 'tippler' also refers to the Demoman, as it describes a person who engages in regular, excessive or habitual consumption of alcohol. Pirates, too are associated with the imbibing of intoxicating liquor, albeit as rum or grog.
- The distinguishing characteristic of the hat is also practical. The turned-up portions of the brim form gutters that direct rainwater away from the wearer's face.
- During the Mann-conomy update, the Tippler's Tricorne was changed from its original black color to RED and BLU team colored skins.
