Ellis' Cap is an unlockable headwear item. The hat features a tow truck design on it, it is a reference to the hat worn by Ellis, a character from Valve's zombie shooter franchise, Template:W.
Obtaining
Beginning October 6, 2010, Ellis' Cap, along with the Frying Pan, was awarded to anyone who purchased Left 4 Dead 2 before Thursday, October 7, 2010, 4pm Template:W, as well as anyone who had already purchased the game. According to "Sacrifice: TF2 Items" on the Left 4 Dead Blog, anyone who owned Left 4 Dead 2 prior to the announcement would receive the item within a few days of the initial release.
Trivia
- Ellis' Cap is listed as "Untradable and Uncraftable" in the backpack, making it unavailable for trading and crafting.
- This is the second Left 4 Dead related hat in Team Fortress 2 that is available for all classes, the first being Bill's Hat.
- The Sacrifice update page had a skeleton wearing this Cap days before its official announcement.
- Ellis' Cap was in the Mann Co. catalog upon the Mann-Conomy's release making the Cap's release obvious.
- Ellis' Cap is the second all class baseball cap to be released, after the Mann Co. Cap, with both being based upon the same model.
- People who had already purchased Left 4 Dead 2 did not receive the hat until a few days after the update.
