The Modest Pile of Hat is an unlockable headwear item for all Classes. It appears as a single gray bowler hat, not unlike the Spy's Backbiter's Billycock. However, the Modest Pile of Hat is not team-colored, has a thicker rim than the Billycock, and the colors of the two hatbands are visibly different.

Trivia

• Since this hat and its cousins (the Noble Amassment of Hats and the Towering Pillar of Hats) have no class requirement, they cannot be purposefully crafted. As such, they are a bit rarer than the craftable class-specific hats.
• This hat along with the Noble Amassment of hats and the Towering pillar of Hats allow the soldier eyes (normally hidden by over sized headgear) to be seen.
• This hat is likely a reference to the hidden Gentle Manne of Leisure page on the Classless Update.
• A non-ribboned, level 44 Modest Pile of Hat was also given to each runner-up in the Propaganda Contest.
• For a small period of time from its release, the Modest Pile of Hat, the Noble Amassment of Hats, and the Towering Pillar of Hats could be crafted using the Fabricate Class Headgear blueprint. This was later corrected and removed by the January 28, 2010 Patch.
