Trivia
- This hat was in fashion during the late 17th century and 18th century, falling out of style shortly before the French Revolution. At the peak of its popularity, the tricorne was worn as civilian dress and as part of military and naval uniforms.
- This hat is commonly associated with pirates, who stereotypically wore eyepatches, much like the Demoman himself.
- A 'tippler' refers to a person who engages in regular, excessive or habitual consumption of alcohol. Pirates, too are associated with the imbibing of intoxicating liquor.
- The distinguishing characteristic of the hat is its practicality. The turned-up portions of the brim form gutters that direct rainwater away from the wearer's face.
- This hat was briefly changed from black to team colors after the Mannconomy Update. This was changed back in the October 6, 2010 Patch when it was returned to its default appearance. To compromise, a new hat was introduced called the Rimmed Raincatcher which has a similar appearance.
