The Polar Pal is a community-created cosmetic item for all classes. It is a bear cub that sits on the classes' left shoulder (right shoulder for Demoman and Scout) and wobbles around with the player's movements.
This item has three styles, named "Polar", "Bamboo Muncher", and "Liberty Edition". The "Polar" style turns it into a polar bear, the "Bamboo Muncher" style turns it into a panda, and the "Liberty Edition" style turns it into a grizzly bear.
When players equipped with this item kill an enemy unassisted by another player, the killfeed shows everyone in Pyroland that it gets the assist, with its custom name if it has one.
The Polar Pal was contributed to the Steam Workshop.
