The Engineer

The Mining Light is a headwear item for the Engineer. It appears as a faintly glowing strap-on helmet lamp attached to his regular hardhat, similar to ones used by miners.

The hat description was written by ravn0s, and was slightly edited by Valve.

Trivia

  • Typical miner's helmets have a fitting either attached to them or molded into their surface, for the purpose of holding such a light. Since the Engineer wears a construction worker's hard hat, the light must be attached by non-conductive leather or nylon straps.
  • The Engineer wears his hard hat backwards, which is not an uncommon practice amongst roughnecks and other skilled laborers. However, this means that the Mining Light is actually strapped to his helmet incorrectly, though facing forwards.
