The Modest Pile of Hat is an unlockable headwear item for all Classes. It appears as a single gray bowler hat, not unlike the Spy's Backbiter's billycock.

Trivia

• Due to the fact that both the Rebuild headgear and Fabricate headgear blueprints which can craft this hat yield random results, there is no determined and guaranteed way to craft and form the Modest pile of hat. Additionally this makes the Modest pile of hat, the Noble amassment of hats and the Towering pillar of hats slightly rarer in value than the normal class specific hats.
• This hat is likely a reference to the hidden Gentle Manne of Leisure page on the Classless Update.
• 'Uncle Sam', the item obtained from coming third in the Propaganda Contest, has an orange ribbon with the number '3' pinned to the fabric.
• A non-ribboned, level 44 Modest pile of hat was also given to each runner-up in the Propaganda Contest. Three examples of this are metalpiss, B0nd07 and Wofiel.
• For a small period of time from its release, the Modest Pile of Hat along with the Noble amassment of hats and the Towering pillar of hats could be crafted using the Fabricate Class Headgear blueprint. This was later corrected and removed by the January 28, 2010 Patch.
• The Modest Pile of Hat is differentiated from the Spy's Backbiter's Billycock by not being team colored, having a visibly different colored hatband and having a thicker rim than the billycock.
