Texas Slim's Dome Shine is an unlockable headwear item for the Engineer. It isn't actually a hat at all, instead removing the Engineer's default helmet to reveal his shining, bald pate.
Trivia
- Upon closer inspection, it appears the Engineer is not entirely bald, but elects instead to shave his remaining hair off.
- This headwear may be a reference to Riddick, a fictional character, who is also bald and wears similar goggles.
- It may also be a reference to Francis, one of the main protagonists in Valve's Left 4 Dead.
- There is a glitch where you can "wear" this hat by taunting with the Demoman's Grenade Launcher and then quickly switching to Engineer.
- Although the Texas Slim's Dome Shine is classed a hat item, it is not displayed in the "Inspect" target window after cycling through a player's equipped items using the "Inspect" key. It is unknown whether this is intentional, since the item is essentially the removal of a hat and realistically cannot be carried.
