The Mercenary is a Miscellaneous medal wearable by all classes awarded by Valve to the Team Fortress 2 community as part of their 119th Update Celebration. It appears as a rectangular bronze medal worn on the class's chest, similar to the Gentle Manne's Service Medal. The Mercenary Badge is awarded to players who purchased and played Team Fortress 2 more than a year after its initial release.
