The Hound Dog, known to the community as the "Elvis Hat," is an unlockable headwear item for the Heavy. It appears as a greased black quiff with sunglasses.

Trivia
- The quiff and sunglasses look was popularized by Elvis Presley, after whom the item is named, and the Teddy Boy and "Greasers" movements of the 1950s.
- Concept art exists showing the Heavy with hair, though it's a different style than the Hound Dog.
- The thumbnail for the Heavy achievement "Soviet Union" features a heavy with a similar hair style.
- Progg, creator of this item, has also created and submitted the winning The Gas Man pack for the Polycount Pack contest.
- The sunglasses are for cosmetic effect only, and do not cause a darkening of the player's screen.
- Using the Australium Gold Paint Can on this hat changes the hair color from black to blonde. Combined with the shades, this makes the Heavy look similar to the TV cartoon character, Johnny Bravo. Many community members now affectionately refer to this version as "Johnny Bravo Heavy", as seen here. Some people, however, think it makes the Heavy look more like Duke Nukem, and accordingly nickname him "Duke Nukem Heavy". Similarly,some in the community think that using Mann Co. Orange paint on the Hound Dog makes The Heavy look like the CSI Miami character Horatio Caine. Also, many players think that using An Extraordinary Abundance of Tinge will make the Heavy look like actor Ted Danson. Others have noted the Radigan Conagher Brown paint makes his hair resemble Rick Astley. Using An Extraordinary Abundance of Tinge, you can make Heavy look like Chris Redfield's alternate costume from Resident Evil 5.
