The Brainiac Hairpiece is a cosmetic item for the Engineer. It is a set of mutton chops, and features a frizzy white hairpiece and mustache. The item was named the "Maths-Enhancing Hair-Do" in promotional materials on the Australian Christmas 2011 update page on the TF2 Official Website and the Weta Workshop website.
This cosmetic item has two styles, named "With Helmet" and "Without Helmet". "With Helmet" retains the Engineer's default hardhat, while "Without Helmet" hides the Engineer's default hardhat.
The Brainiac Hairpiece was later contributed to the Steam Workshop, at Valve's request.

- Reverted back into a miscellaneous item.
- The Brainiac Hairpiece no longer hides Engineer's default helmet.

- Updated The Brainiac Hairpiece so it can be equipped with items like The Grizzled Growth and added a "no helmet" style.
Bugs
- If an enemy Spy tries to disguise as an Engineer that is currently wearing this cosmetic item with the "Without Helmet" style, the enemy Spy will appear with the "With Helmet" style instead. This only applies if the Engineer is not wearing any additional cosmetic item that disables the headgear bodygroup other than the Brainiac Hairpiece.
